I think the basic use case has been streamlined on most phones now. Unless people are photographers (might as well get DSLR camera right?), mobile gamers (better portable options out there), or influencers; most social media apps/widgets can run smoothly on most phones The clout of having the latest phone has died down in recent years (maybe just my social circle?)
You lost me at Prius is beautiful. 😂 But great video man. I have the pixel fold and Im still enjoy it. I’ve had no issues and the outer screen is perfect. If only the camera was better. That is the only thing that causes regret.
I didn't think I would like the Prius so much either 😂 High School Tay would be disappointed in himself. Yeah I hope they give the camera a big upgrade for the Fold 2
I'm at the end of my contract for a pixel 6 Literally next month I can get a new phone (without up front cost, given how good pixels are I'm happy to wait and not pay extra as my 6 is still great) I'm probably going for a pixel fold Not the 2 But the original. I think a lot of people might be in a similar situation to me, where a pixel fold, is still an upgrade "It doesn't have the newest chip" Firstly, neither do I Secondly, it'll still be an upgrade to me because on this The biggest issue I see, might be battery Having said this, I don't have traditional social media I will turn always on display off as I don't need it ( I'm a watch guy, if I need the time I check my wrist not my pocket) And I'm happy to buy a magsafe power bank & ring if I think the battery needs that boost For me The pixel fold is probably going to tick a lot of boxes And mean I can get rid of my tablet (Which I only use for films/ TH-cam) Annoyingly, I think too many reviews came out on the pixel fold highlighting areas that probably don't matter to a large number of people. Regardless of this, great video and very informative! Just wanted to share my opinion.
Thank you! I like that you've put so much thought into the phone. I definitely put a lot of thought into it before I got mine. I think you're right too, even if you don't wait for the pixel fold too. It's still going to be an upgrade getting the first generation fold and there are still a lot of things you're going to love about it. With that being said, you are in kind of a perfect position to wait for the second generation fold. Your pixel 6 isn't an old phone so it's going to last a while longer and you could wait comfortably til October (assuming that's when the new one comes out). Definitely wait until the second generation fold comes out, like I mentioned in the video, even if you don't get the second generation fold, once the second generation comes out, the first gen be heavily discounted
One thing I don't understand is how people are bothered by how it doesn't open completely flat. Tbh I'm totally fine with it as long as this thing doesn't break I'm going to be ok
I was in a similar situation as I was still on my Pixel 6 Pro from the Pixel Pass (rip). I can't recommend the Fold enough now that it's in my hands, but the one thing that cemented my decision to get the original Fold instead of waiting for the Fold 2 is the form factor. Specs for a phone don't matter much to me in the long run if I hate holding it.
honestly im glad i just got the fold. $500 for open box. Easier to hold on to it now that they chaged form factor. i'll get a used fold 2 if my fold doesn't hold up until the fold 3 lol
I love using the features so much. I got some grandparents whose health is slipping and I recently got a photo sphere of them with my mom sitting down in their living room so I can always go back and revisit that moment and see all the little details of inside their living room while they live there.
I am having this debate for myself. My Pixel 6 Pro will be paid off next month and I want the Fold but am worried about pulling the trigger. I think my 6 pro is still solid (even with the fist gen Tensor). I do not feel I need the latest and greatest with a normal phone but with a foldable maybe I should hold off. Lets be honest, it will all probably come down to what discount they slap on the gen 1. I have had the Pixel 2XL, 4a and 6 Pro. I bought each one literally months before the their replacement was released. I got great deals and have been happy with them all.
I love using mine. I am excited for the second Gen, though it could be a good 3-4 months away. If you get a pixel fold, get a good deal! Also Pitaka makes a great Magsafe case that's on Amazon if you do get it!
Bought mine from Best buy like new open box for $1200.00 and love it. This thing does the majority of what I need it to do. I couldn't help it because this wider outer display slays, much better than Samsung's and I think even nicer than the 1plus opens outer display.
An A series foldable would be awesome! I heard rumors Samsung is trying to do something like that with its Foldables. I would be up for buying a foldable that didn't have the telephoto lens if it was under $1,000. I mean, ideally I want it to be the best of the best, but if they could get it under $1,000 I would be okay with some features being cut
They're way more competitive now that they charge with a type C. I like Apple but upgrading with Apple doesn't feel as fun. When I was ready to upgrade from my iPhone X I went to android just because the 13 didn't excite me at all.
@@TayWTech I hear you.. I definitely see the argument apple products come off very sterile. Not much to them. What lures me to the “dark side” is how user friendly it is. My grandma can use it and understand it fairly fast. Just for me it’s already at the price point where you have to take out a loan for a flipping phone so I just want a brand I know will have minimal issues etc The type c is a huge improvement for sure and glad they finally went down that route. Do you think you’ll experiment with iPhones again? Not to assume your preference.
I think people are waiting more and more to get a new phone. Every year people keep their phones longer because they've gotten so good.
Yeah, upgrading is definitely more of a want than a need in many cases. Hopefully it means we get better discounts, phones are mad expensive 🫰🏻

just REALLY need for google to keep the aspect ratio
That's one of my biggest hopes too. At this point it feels like the next gen could go in any direction.

Removal of the Photosphere really annoyed me on my 8. I would use that feature all the time to create Skyboxes in Unity.

I got it in my Px fold

The form factor on this phone is sooo good. I didn't care which foldable had the (barely) better specs. The cover display is too good
Google should consider an a-line for their pixel folds and cancel it for their standard flagship smartphones

This is great information, but I feel like the iPhone is far superior. Open to debate

Two entirely different products. iPhone vs Pixel Fold.
@@Hanaronxd definitely 2 different products.. just curious in the long haul what makes one sell better then other.
