I remember watching this in my Christian Ethics Class when I was like 12. Seeing a child do something so humble sparked that same kind of energy in myself. The world really needs more kindness and acceptance.
It's too bad this generation might not enjoy this movie as much as I have, given all the stuff that came with Kevin Spacey. But this movie, American Beauty, changed my life.
I can't believe that this great movie got such bad reviews saying it was "emotionally manipulative" and such. Some people I guess just can't handle emotions. Makes 'em think they're weak or something. The pure simple message that small acts of kindness can have infinite benefits should be taught everywhere...esp on Wall St. and Washington DC!
I had some problems with programming lately and there was this person, essentialy a guru. He helped me with everything even though he had lots of work on his own. When i asked him what i could do for him he just told me: "Have you ever watched Pay it Forward?", i said no and he said: "Well you should watch that movie." And so thus i began to believe that there is still a hope in humanity.
I payed it forward to a man who later became my son's father. He's such a great man. I could never say enough for him. I just told hom to pay it forward.

That's up to you, don't mean it has to be exactly as your proposal. There are approximately 7.9 million different points of view and still I think the life on earth is a unique and wonderful experience when you decide like that.
He is a phenomenal actor. I was very young when this film came out and I had no idea who Kevin Spacey was back then. He stayed in my mind since. Years later, I came across him on the internet and have been obsessed with his work since. He deserves a strong comeback, the industry needs talent like him to make it better.
Back at November of 2022,the whole class including me watched this movie. Looking at the world now,its a bit harsh,i barely see a sign of anyone paying something forward nowadays. Its sad to see world like this now for sure, sometimes,we need a chance to actually spread more and more kindness like we used to before. This movie really hit me right at the feels.
Actually it's not a movie. It's a life lesson. Tests, trials of this mammon world. Yet, "These three remain faith, hope and Love. And the greatest of these is love"...
A woman randomly just asked to pay for a bag of tortilla chips that me and my boyfriend were about to buy.....that gesture reminded me of this movie. It wasn't anything big, but it was significant enough for me to want to pay it forward.
The world is still the same. The media in 2020 just became pessimistic with the world. There are so many people that are resilient and happy, who goes through their life with satisfaction, with the help of family love, faith in church, and good people that constantly proves you that life is amazing and people should be grateful for it. Around the world people actually deal with hardships, hunger and basic life necessities. In US, we are living in prosperity. You want to be happy, be thankful of little things. Don't count your blessings and don't put others down because you think you are "virtous". Try to be humble and don't expect much from others. Treat others as how you want to be treated no matter your preference are. Always remember your work, your actions and how you treat others is how people define you, hence you define yourself. Be passionate of what you do and stimulate your love for life.
The recent story of the teenager that got attacked and murdered by 15 other students reminded me so much of this movie. Hadn't thought of it for a while until recently but this is def. in my top 10 movies ever. I cried and cried and cried the first time I saw it. Just heartbreaking but also beautiful.
I watched this movie when it first came out in my summer school i was 12 or 11 years old.it’s stuck with me my whole life.i swear it changed me as a person.i love paying it forward and everytime i do it reminds me of when i watched this movie.
