Used to use the free version of Sync for over 3 years, but last few months ran into a weird problem that deleted files kept coming back. I had it installed in roughly 9 machines so maybe it was my fault for using the free version but that got annoying real fast so I folded and bought a Synology DS120j with a 4 TB disk that backups to my home computer.
Hi, i just updated sync today on my pc. I clicked on the icon and it said an update was available so i updated it. Now when i click the icon it says "uploading files to server" and all my files in my sync folder don't have the green checkmark.
As I'm watching this video I'm writing the specific use case that I hope to use it for. I want about 9 devices to share exactly and only one folder. There is about 100mbytes of data in that folder. I'm also hoping to use just the free version. (for now dropbox free is doing a pretty darn good job except for the device limitation) The devices are 5 win10/11 laptops and a few android phones and tablets. The folder never gets deleted. The files in it do get changed when I do a contract job and will get revisions and updates.
I have a pro version: and considering changing to another cloud. I am current user and I have not been able to access my files in a week or so because they did an update months ago and I do not get notified. Therefore, I could view them in my MAC air but the updates were not in sync with my iphone 15 nor in sync with their web panel. Weird. Still waiting for help. No 1800 number to call.
Thanks for the video, but I was looking for TimeMachine replacement, a service that backup all my folders (documents order, movies folder, pictures folder, etc.) without me moving everything in the /Sync folder. Is there a service like that that offer 5 Tb storage? iCloud doesn't Thanks
Love your content, I find myself watching several of your vid topics (TrueNAS, Server, etc.). Do either of sync plans allow you to limit the shared folder size?
Is it possible to install DSM on the two cache SSD hard drives to reduce noise and power consumption? Or is it possible to install 1 SSD and 3 HDDs and run DSM on the SSD? And what will happen if the SSD dies?
Great video, thank you. My question is: Often when I move a file using the PC Windows app, the next day it is back to where it was, and sometimes it's in both locations. And, sometimes when I rename a file, the next day I will now have two files: The original and the renamed version. Just last night I removed the ones I didn't want (again), and this morning they are back... Grrr.. I have reached out to support, but have not heard anything yet. Any ideas?
I'm a photographer... i currently have 44tb on google drive but they no longer offer unlimited. is this platform going to work for my needs? I do not have a team.
@@jimee998 Google also had unlimited at first, to catch the flies. Let's learn lessons from the past. Sync also need to pay servers, it won't be long before users either need to pay extra or simply no more unlimited.
Love your videos. Can you do one on what is the best way to link Synology to Firestick so we can watch video or pull up photos that is on Synology drive

Nope, unlimited is harder on those as well as sharing isn't as easy. So no, it's different

pCloud does the same thing and more, and it's cheaper with one time payment.
