    Is the British Army Reserves the same as the Territorial Army?
    It appears to be a switch in terminology.

      @jamiethepostie ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely no idea about that, but 1 thing I can say is, when I left in 98 and became a reservist, I did not have to do the usual amount of days training or Annual Camp requirement TA soldiers do. So maybe "Reservists" and "TA" are different due to the requirements of said Tag. I was however required to attach myself to 6 Scots(v) before 2 x 6 month tours of Bosnia.

      @@jamiethepostie yes, when you leave before you're finished your 22, you normally have the remaining time on the reserve list, to be called up or called upon in dire emergencies or in some cases because you're bored and fancy something different as a friend of mine did!

  • @soton5teve
    @soton5teve ปีที่แล้ว +1

    For example, unacceptable to me personally, to be issued with a card that says " *HM* " armed forces may seem small you, but this type of thing is why you have a recruitment crisis, and heartstrings ads, or see the world ads, or money ads, or "i was born in blyth, but i was made in the royal navy" ads. Ain't going to solve it. People want the *archaic nature of names and symbols* to go, like "royal" and HM, of left over colonialism, and Christianity in a majority atheist country, overwhelmingly secular. skewed by the commonwealths rather convenient indoctrination by christian colonialism. consign it to history!

    • @michaelfoster5577
      @michaelfoster5577 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Sorry, but I disagree totally. I was happy to swear allegiance to HM the Queen, her Heirs and Successors, but there is no way I would do that for any slimy politician of whatever political hue.
      Having a President costs more than a monarch - and hasn’t it worked out so well for the USA (among others)!

    • @omeproductions1392
      @omeproductions1392 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Majority of people I know actually like these “small” things, it’s what’s sets us apart from other countries. Personally I am proud to be British, the monarch is the living embodiment of our nation state. It is the Great in Great Britain and I’d rather have the royal family as the symbol of our nation than any other elected politician (like the USA has).
      The minority of people I know (and I mean 1 or 2 people out of several hundred) are indifferent to it.
      If anything we should encourage taking pride in what makes us british, not shying away from it.

      It’s the things like HM and Royal that add pride. The armed forces have their issues but this is not one of them and if that is enough to make you not join up, then the armed forces is not the place for you.
