I absolutely love the juxtaposition of the song with this video. The song describes how innocent children are thrust into an uncaring hostile world. While the video depicts the brutality, young soldiers have to face during warfare. Thus the combination of both produces an environment of sheer irony.
I always thought that's what it was about, I think you're right. It makes the song much more intriguing as an awesome song in it's sound, and something meaningful from a lyrical standpoint. At 18 you can die for your country, but you can't rent a car...crazy.
Hitler's Jüngerstaffen: Kids, 11, 12, 13,14 years old sent on the front to die. imagine for two seconds when the Allies realized the extent of the butchery they were faced with. But in combat, there's one rule.
Unbelievable all video footage from a movie about WWII could look like Star Wars. Let me explain: All of what we consider 'old' as we see new techonolgy to make war, and it still, no because the quality of the movie, but because it was actually that inferno back to 1939 to 1945. Thousands and thousands of people died, not before seeing their own limbs desmembering, and all firing. Many people I know where there and survived. 94 to 97 year old people. They were 18 to 21 back then. If someone here is that young age: Imagine yourself into that 'Star Wars'. No, please don't. It was just on this planet. I'm trying to express what I feel. One word would do it: HORROR. Honor our Vets. Never treat an old man bad... You have no idea. Hell on the sky. I'm enough coward to put a gun inside my mouth on that situation. But those who survived were brave, and they still are while they are still living here. Not just support them: Visit them, have a liltle chit-chat with them. I do it weekly and they love to see me just to talk, even if I have to repeat what I'm saying, because some of them are almost deaf. But I love to do it. I love them and I will honor them til their last day (not neccesarily talking about war, but mostly as if they were my uncles). Please... You will feel you did something worth in your life, even if you hate war (like I hate it). They cry when nobody's there, and that 'somebody's there' could be you. Don't say time won't let you, or job, or your wife and kids. You do have time. Please, I beg you. Gil.
Did you know that all those weapons in the movie star wars including hon solos gun was all German ww2 era weapons? Hon solos blaster was actually a mauser c96 and the troopers weapons where mg42s and German submachine guns.
A lot of their later songs have a grungy theme to them. If Metallica had ever decided to play solely grunge songs, the grunge craze would have lasted for decades instead of just a handful of years.
I think Rob Trujillo is an amazing musician, but this is one of the very few songs that Jason Newstead gets any credit for if they would have used his talent differently and let him expressing self. He probably still be with the band, not taking anything away from Rob.
@@gabrielpaiva9070 I know from experience that if I don't set it as adult content, youtube will do it for me. These are, for example, war films. Just a little bloody scenes are enough and the content can be classified as such.
Yep just like the bankers did during ww2 who convinced fdr to sell us out and now look where we're at with all this communist bullshit going around and lefty politicians breaking rules and amendments and manipulating law to get their way.
I always thought this was a criminally underrated song
Evan S top 5 Metallica song for me
Absolutely. Easily a favorite of mine.
Because it absolutely is.
Agreed.
I find this song fantastic, it one of my faves from reload
Band of Brothers and Metallica is a combo I didn’t know I needed

So underrated.
Lars had brought some drumming straight from hell in this one.
Very underrated song from the most legendary metal band ever!
6:33 the timed explosions lol. Great job with this
Wish they’d have played this live at some point. An under rated track on ReLoad for sure
They played it as opening jam instead of Ectasy of gold in 1997 Cunning stunts I think, not fully but like 3 or 4 minutes of that song
Band of Brothers and Metallica is possibly the best combination I could ask for
War is literal hell.
But this is a great war song by the greatest band ever, METALLICA!!!!!!
This song is about a baby entering the world. Love it.

its a master piece. i never could write lyrics like this.
I thought same for 20 years but why the war, man vs. machine in the video?
I think it is about the environment.
Bc Fu because it’s unofficial
This makes this song 100 times better than it already was
Few perfect analogies in this world; this is one of them.
metallica - the wolf and man yeah
This is literally so cool. The combo fits so perfectly
I LOVE METALLICA!!!
Very under estimated song!
Listening to this one for a long time !

Everyone saying "Load/Reload" suck - doesn't have any taste in music, good heavy rock music...

GREAT video with a GREAT song!!!
love this song \m/
Circle back all of them
This is a very nice song that escapes from the usual sound of Metellica songs, but it is a great song.
Has an Alice in Chains vibe for sure.
Cause they didn’t try to sound different
Lars was a big fan of Jerry Cantrell
A lot of their later songs have a grungy theme to them.

So heavy!
This song makes feel me insane and High and distubed

Can I ask what content you put in your videos? I'm asking I went to your Metallica videos list and over half of them were age restricted.

Where the wild things are? In the elite, playing war games with humamity.

The sound of the machine guns was too loud. It ruined the song.
You little bitch.
You sound like a little school girl! You want just the music, don't watch a damn compilation then idiot!
+Canna Occult Maybe he/she doesn't like the poetry of machine weapons... :P
Only complain is kirks solo

Made fun of Layne, rips the whole band off. Pfft. Shocker.
