Great video! The one that died might have been in a battle with one of the other males. I have noticed that other crabs know when they are vulnerable and will try to take them out. It may have just been old age as well, they only live 2 to 2.5 years so not very long. They do sometimes have molting issues and die but its usually when they can't fully get out of their old shell.

I thought keeping molted exoskeletons in the tank was good as many decapods eat molten shells to regain nutrients.

Because of their colour that resembles a vampire ( especially the purple ones ).
