Few years back it was almost impossible to compete with Iphone in terms of camera but what samsung has achieved in last 4-5 years is commendable. They are not only competing equally with iphones but also almost an year old phone is able to give tough competition to a newly launched iphone. Can't wait for s24 ultra now.

not really even 4 year old pixel can give iPhone a tough challenge and even best iPhone in tough dynamic range scenarios in the photo department. while the video of older pixels is not as good the new pixel 8 pro i would argue is pulling a more appealing video than any iPhone ever
Even pixel 6a camera is better than I phone or Samsung except potrait mode's edge detection.Don't forgot Huawei 😅 they were in tough competition with i phones that time

I still remember when I was using Mi A1 in 2017, and my friend had the brand new Samsung S8 and we compared the background blur of portrait mode. Mi A1 won it by huge margin at edge detection and overall portrait mode though Samsung had more details and I concluded that Samsung had one of the worst background blur photos that time, just to tease him. Back to 2021, 22, 23 I can now say that Samsung is one of the finest for portrait mode photos. I am really impressed by how well Samsung improved over the years.

Sooner or later iPhone & Samsung are gonna catchup with respect to camera features and photo type that’s for sure but I would love to see more competition over type of photo/video features. Like I see every year features are getting stagnant and no innovation over photos/videos are included, only polishing existing features and still getting things inconsistent I mean hefty amount one pays so provide consistency and balance over photos/videos. Overall your videos was spot-on and you beautifully presented each of your opinion mate. Keep providing good quality content.

What's the point of having a 200mp camera when it's just gonna bin the image to 12mp.

Companies should try to make the periscope camera capable of dynamic zoom range instead of one fixed point.
Sony Xperia iv already does that and it’s patented tech so now in reality it becomes more difficult to implement that continuous optical zoom range because now other brands will have to find ways to implement that… so that it doesn’t have to pay any licensing fees to sony
There is two ways of achieving that, one is physically adding something like Sony has done. Or in other way by using good sensor then doing sensor crop like Apple did in iPhone 14 pros for 2x. And I think they are trying to do the 2nd one or would choose the 2nd one as it's much more cheap and easy.

Mention the biggest elephant in the room - Motion Blur…
Most of the photos one takes has some human subject in it. Even in the nature’s photos there are leaves and grass. They all suffer from a bad shutter lag of samsung s23 ultra. Add to that photos where :
1. You have kids who can never stay still
2. Multiple people who keep fiddling
3. Or the person taking the the photo is doing it with one hand - not able to stabilise with two hands
4. Indoor or low light photos
All of the above scenarios and more suffer from shutter lag and slow shutter speed which with samsung is about 1/33rd of a second for indoor shots..Zoom in just a tiny bit and photos look unusable as the motion blur is super visible.
As compared to- iphone 15 pro max can shoot at a shutter speed of over 1/400th of a second with super lens stabilisation built in thereby totally eliminating motion blur. U can zoom in to the photos to your photos without them falling apart.
Second huge problem with samsung is taking photos or pdf of text written in blue ink or black print. There is a weird halo effect over each letter plus the letters look slimmer than the written or printed width.
For someone who doing a job or business knows that taking photos of written or prints and sharing them over WhatsApp or email is practically an everyday requirement.
There is no such problem in iphone.

The sharpness is an issue I am facing personally. I went out on a vacation and the S23 Ultra was trying to sharpen too much. I preferred my other iPhone to take those landscape photos..
U can fix the sharpness thing from the camera assistant settings and also can adjust the shutter speed as per your choice.

No one is going to print photos, only watch on phone, in that case TRUST ME 12MP SAMSUNG COLORS LOOKS EXCELLENT. If u want to print and frame then Go for Full Frame cam.
I have Iphone 14 pro max and S22U, I always prefer Pop colors of Samsung. Will upgrade to S24U next year and its so cheap in compariosn.

Everyone prefer something or the other. Both these phones are really nice in terms of cameras.
I personally prefer iPhone but that’s completely personal preference and that doesn’t mean Samsung is poor. Samsung has done very good job and that’s good for consumers that they are getting what they want.
