I have my version of common sense, I am not using gender neutral language but if I come across someone who is friendly and doesn't seem attention seeking I have no problem calling a trans woman a woman, because I am sure they would agree I am not going out of my way to treat them different, I am not focusing on them being trans, if however a trans woman has a list of expectations on how to treat them including how to speak around them at that point I will not respect them because it's all one sided. I know a trans woman who since transitioning about 10 years ago the only differences I have noticed with them is their skin looks younger, they are not feminine at all and their voice hasn't changed and they dress very grunge so people often still call them he and they don't get offended by it as they know they still have a male apperance, they sometimes mention they are trans and thats it.
