This video came in very handy - I just picked this camera up at a local thrift shop for $5. I think it'll be perfect for the times I don't want to pack my SLR and various lenses. Thanks for this.
I am glad that yours works. I read online that a lot of these older Pentax zooms have issues now because they are so old. I wish that my camera shop 40 minutes away didn't want almost 70 bucks for it.
There are a lot of these old point and shoot cameras that have not lasted. That's across the board on brands. Not many of the 90s point and shoot cameras were made for longevity.
@@DavidHancock Oh I see. what were the best years for longer lasting? I saw a olympus 2002 camera for five bucks. I thought about getting it . I asked if it was the same vendors booth with the kodak that didn't work upstairs. this boothwas downstairs. they said not the same guy from upstairs with two booths. the antique mall was closing in 10 minutes today and I wasn't sure if I should get it to try.
@@DavidHancock Today I went back to antique mall to test the olympus zoom film camera. the worker got it to turn on with my batteries, but the battery door would not close. when she took the batteries out it closed. i decided that it wasn't worth trying to tape it to not be loose. maybe that's why it was only 5 bucks. it may have had other issues that I didn't know about but could have worked. to bad about the battery door.
@@deadlycreature3359 in my experience with point-and-shoots Olympus Minolta cameras decent. I think buying a late 90s early 2000 models. I typically don't pay more than $7 for point and shoot camera.
Excellent video mate, I picked mine up on the curbside clean up. I stuck a battery in it and it fired up now too run some film through it. The only thing missing is the cover for the rewind button on the bottom of the camera. For a simple point and shoot it`s pretty flexible.
I believe the little doo-dad on the strap has a little nub that is intended to be usable for the battery door & manual rewind button. For a basic camera it has a considerable # of flash modes (that' you'd have to cycle through if you clicked one-too-many times).
i like your easy to comprehend and straight to point style video while in the subject of point and shoot cameras any chance of doing a video on the RICOH FF90 I'm just getting into film and I got this camera on a yard sale I must confess that I bought it purely for it's design even after doing like a 15 minute online phone research on it but couldn't find any videos on how it operates cheers
The shutter speeds are actually; "1/320", "1/3", and "B". The protruding lug on the camera strap adjuster is used to unlatch the battery cover and also used to depress the mid-roll rewind button.
I can't be sure of the exact model number but I'm pretty certain this was my first ever camera as an 8 year old. My mum and grandparents bought it for me one christmas and that was the start of the obsession with photography.
@@DavidHancock Oh it was! I loved it. I can't believe they kept paying for the awful pictures I used to take. Thankfully, I improved. I've never seen a disc camera but it sounds like a google/youtube rabbit hole I'm going to enjoy.
Hello, thanks for explanation. I have EZY-S version and there is no video for it on internet. Can you please tell me is it similar? What is difference between those two cameras and which is better? Or if you could take a video of it this would be very helful
is there a film you would recommend for this camera? preferably something that looks great at night time with flash that has a subject in the middle! thanks
I have the iqzoom ezy camera that one has a data back. The data back gets it's power from the same battery powers of camera instead of being dedicated Button cell of other data back cameras. Taking long exposures with a point shoot camera was an interesting experience. I got good exposure but I took the camera to alleged holding the button down.
@@DavidHancock I want to swap a working data back from a junk body onto my non data back working body I just saw a teardown boy it would be nice if the film backs were interchangeable. Great video.
Hiiii, I know this is an old video, but I have a question. I have this camera and it automatically put a date stamp on all my photos and I was wondering if you knew how to disable this. Thanks, Mia :)
Hi, Mia, I respond to questions on WAY older videos than this one. For the date stamps, the date controls are on the back. I honestly don't know how to use them because this camera didn't have the date imprint capability. So pretty those buttons until something that's probably a bunch of hyphens appears and that should turn off the date function.
On the data back hit the mode button until it displays a several hyphens. With that setting it will not imprint the date on your negative. This works with any data back camera. One thing to note is that if your Pentax data back gets its power from the same battery that powers the camera body, You'll have to do this each time you put a battery in the camera.

Pre dx coding, iso adjustments possible and ev comp I believe, 35mm 2.8. I was interested in buying one for a little more creative capabilities.
Hey! I have exactly this camera, but even with the film placed correctly and with the photos being taken, it stays with the number 0, and it doesn't change even taking the photos. I don't know if it really doesn't work, but it takes the pictures or some other problem. What do you advise me?
Mine randomly doesn’t shut off. Or at different focal lengths, the camera won’t release the shutter. I’m assuming it’s not working since it randomly works but mostly stops working :(
@@DavidHancock I thought so too, however, I tested the camera again with no film and at default settings sometimes the shutter goes off and sometimes it doesn’t. Other than the issues I mentioned, the camera has no error. I suppose it might be a wiring issue and if someone tested the wires it would be fine. I bought it for $45 so it’s not a huge loss
What kind of noise? These aren't the quietest cameras, so a noise may or may not be bad. As for the 2 hi, what setting are you using the camera in? Are you inside or out?
It's been a while since I recorded this video, so I'll have to defer to it. There's a link list in the description and each section in the video can be reached easily. Check the sections on the back features and inside features.

what would be the best flash mode for an indoor concert? :)
With this camera, you will need to be VERY close to the stage. But assuming you are, the standard flash would work well.

Hmm. I'd try pushing the leader a bit further into the take-up spool area first. If that doesn't work then the advance motor may have failed.
Will Duracell 123 work? Or does it specifically need 123A batteries?
123 is 123. I forget what the A means, but yes, the Duracells will work. Those are what I use.
My camera just says E and U2, how do you fix it?
I think that U2 indicates the gears in the zoom mechanism need to be replaced.
Mine randomly doesn’t shut off. Or at different focal lengths, the camera won’t release the shutter. I’m assuming it’s not working since it randomly works but mostly stops working :(
Curious. For the photo issue, that might just be down to shutter speed or aperture settings being unavailable.

I bought the Pentax IQZoom EZY and there's dust on the lens inside the film chamber. What's the safest way to clean it?
If it's just dust, a bulb or rocket blaster and a lens brush (not a lens pen) will work well. I have a video about that going live in early June, too.

Most likely the film isn't loaded correctly.
It doesn’t take 35mm film right? (Sorry idk sh’t about cameras)
And my English sucks lol
@@luisabertoluci Your English here is fine (trust me, I have two degrees in it and used to teach college English.) But this will only take 35mm film.
If non DX film is loaded the ASA goes to 25 I think.
25 ISO is the bottom range it can read, but it should select 100 ISO for non-DX-coded film.
my camera says E instead of 0
