  • Cheap eBay welder on review - is it any good? Worth the money and your time?
    Stick around find out....
*N.B. I AM NOT a pro-welder, I'm an amateur with a little experience and a lot of enthusiasm, which I'm guessing is the same for most of the people for are viewing this...

I just got the 200 with euro lance connector, works fine so far on mig. Replaced my expired Telwin 100. Case doesn't fit well and the bottom isn't flat making the feet wobbly, could probably adjust it. The euro connector means longer cable and so gets a full metal 24v wire feed. Fan is on full all the time, could be quieter.
Should work fine until an output IGBT blows, fingers crossed.

Thank you for your nice video, great sense of humor . I am wondering about the knocking sound while you were mig welding.

The arc welding portion sounded pretty good. The mig left a lot to be desired... When you are welding you want to fuse the metals together. You are creating a puddle than pushing the puddle from left to right. In other words you're welding in reverse. I'm also left handed and I had to learn to reverse what felt comfortable. Weld from right to left with that hand/wrist position. Opposite if you are right handed, tilt the handle to the right and then weld left..

I think you’re describing how I am “pushing” the puddle? I occasionally do the opposite “pull” (if I have good fit up and NEED good penetration) but you’re right push just feels more natural (I prefer TIG)… I am not a good welder but it’s rare anything fails…
I’ve just rewatched it and the first few passes of MIG aren’t good, it’s sounds like the arc length is too long (which it may have been!) I should probably drop the voltage again, it sounded a lot better after that 👍

If only my wife would allow me to weld in my garage! Great review.

Tell her if she won't, then you'll weld in her shoe cupboard! Anyway, i bought an andeli tig 250 almost 2 years ago , used less than 2 hours while in 1 year warranty, just started to use it proper , 4mm box section steel , 146amps the highest I've taken it , & it popped , blew the fuse , tripped the breaker . Wouldn't turn on after that , msgd e-bay seller wlqy6688 - he said that its out of its warranty so any work would be charged for for all costs ! The thing had done just less than 3 hours work , its absolutely shite & when i opened the case up , its still dust free & clean as new inside, so just shows how little work its done , the thing cost £630 & is now useless as I'm not prepared to put any more money into it , i went out the local weld show & bought a parweld xtt212 for not that much more & its just an altogether better welder , with a 3 year warranty, that i can actually take back into a shop ! If you want my advice, avoid andeli as they are shit & the seller knows it .

    How’s it going?
Did I hear right you can’t adjust wire speed?

    • @MakingforMotorsport
      @MakingforMotorsport  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Hi Jimbo, because it’s a “Synergic” welder the welder itself take care of it, so there isn’t a dial that completely controls it like a normal welder, but you can “tune” it using the Voltage adjustment knob.
Having used it now, the welder is pretty good at this (better than me) and I set/tune it so I am happy with the arc sound and I just forget about wire speed, just change current - this makes it very easy to use.
I have another video on the welder having used it more which covers this.
      Are thinking of getting one?
Happy welding and thanks for watching!

How about the HZXVOGEN HBM2280 MIG Digital welder for $500 cheaper than Lincoln digital?

    • @MakingforMotorsport

Hi, thanks for watching. I have not tried it and the Andeli is all I really need in a MIG at the moment. Looking at it on eBay it will probably be the same as most Chinese welders, it will do the job fairly well but not really be a match for the western name brands.
A note of caution, I would be worried about the support level spending this much, if the Lincoln broke you could get it fixed, I doubt this would have that support, it would be essentially disposable if it breaks. Also, I’d want to see the digital interface as the welder will be hard to use if it makes no sense...
      Happy welding!

bought a 250 but I'm in the U.S and our power requirements are different Andeli wont give me a direct answer so I can rewire it to work. if your plugs are 220 can you tell me how they work? I cut the plug off to rewire it to find only 2 wires in the U.S we don't use a solid 220 line we'd use 2-115 volt lines and a neutral and because of the machines metal casing a ground wire. one of Andelis reply was to use the machine as a neutral but that would assume the 2 wires I'm looking at a both 115 volt. and I'm positive that wont work. I think your plugs are 1-220volt and 1-neutral no ground. I've been trying to find an answer for almost 2 months. thanks

Hi, in the UK we use 230v 50hz supply, sockets are wired with a live (brown), neutral (blue) and earth (green/yellow). I have just checked my machine and that is how it is wired. I am not an expert but I know 3phase AC and to get the higher voltages you do not connect to a neutral but to different live phases (both separate 115v), there is no “neutral” and the earth is there for safety. I found this on line which shows what I mean: -
      makezine.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/figure_4-620x320.jpg
I am surprised you only have two wires in your cable, if so I would definitely earth the casing whatever you do, just for safety. But if those 2 wires normally supply 115v single phase (1 “live” and 1 “neutral” )then connecting them both to different phases of 115v will give you increased voltage, but just both to the same 115v line won’t. You could get a multimeter and measure the voltage between them to check, same phase and there will be little or no voltage.
All that said, it’s disclaimer time, if your not sure then I would check an electrician local to you and ALWAYS follow good safety practices (unlike ElectroBoom!). I would make absolutely sure that Andeli will honour the guarantee if you follow their advice and then try it!
Hope this helps... and be careful - 230v is no fun.... ask me how I know! 😂😂😂

@@MakingforMotorsport thanks ill watch the vid. i did a ohm reading got nothing but i think i should've switched it on. yes i know electricity....lol U.S Navy 1985 to 88 em4 got shocked a lot. on my 15th birthday i grabbed a 6.8 thousand volt high power line while climbing a tree, me and electricity know each other very well. so i need to know what I'm looking at when rewiring this machine. i missed andeli's upgrade so its compatible for the U.S and they wont sell me an adapter or tell me how its done. thanks for your time

Hi Tom, thanks for the question. I tend to use a 5%Co2 Argon mix but I will be uploading a video soon where I talk about bottle options! Hope you enjoy it!
