I’m an African American, just curious to know why there’s so much hatred and bitterness towards the US? If China is doing all of these great things for Africa that’s great!!

    • @Perfectafrika

Maybe it is because the US does not want China to do business with Africa, we don't know why too

The Griffin Saenda Sports Complex (arena) is being built by a Chinese company BUT is FULLY financed by the Malawi government to the tune of MK7.7 billion and not China. The Chinese company is just a contractor who won the bid for the project. On the other hand, the Bingu International stadium opened in 2017 and was built by a $70 million Chinese grant. Another Chinese company built the stadium. Zambia has the exact same stadium in Ndola, also built by the Chinese. The Griffin Saenda Sports Complex hosted the Region 5 games before it was fully finished. The contractor expects to finish all works by March 2023.

That money may also came from China. There's no government in any African country is willing or has the money to spend on making people's living condition better. There have to be secret personal benefits for the corrupt government officials in Malawi.

@@Anonymous------ This facility has not been built with Chinese money. Do you insinuate that Malawi gets all her money from China? Remember people pay taxes, this came from taxes and not any donor. This facility and another one, the Aquatic sports centre, were built because Malawi was going to host the Region 5 Games which it hosted. Other stadiums in Lilongwe were also renovated because of these games. All money from the government.

In Malawi who would pay tax? No one can afford to pay tax there, because their income is so low that they hardly survive. Malawi's GDP per capita is only about MK100,000 per month, even with the very few businesses that pay tax to the government, the officials pocket most of that money into their own personal Swiss bank accounts. Why the Malawi government didn't make anything for the people but only now with all that Chinese money and help coming in?

    • @wavelength7503

@@checks1975 then why the Chinese great wall entrance, and Chinese inscriptions in the entrance. Is there that many Chinese people living in Malawi. J it st asked out of interest, from🇨🇦.

    • @checks1975
      @checks1975 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@wavelength7503 It is common for companies to showcase their name and logo so that people know who is building. This is MARKETING for the company. Even if it's a company from South Africa or US or even a Malawian company they want people to know the work they are doing. In Malawi in the past two decades we used to have a South African company building roads called Group Five. They left many years ago but people still remember that this road was built by Group Five. The money did not come from the South African government. Group Five simply participated in the bidding process and won the contracts. These days most companies constructing roads in Malawi are Mota-Engil, a Portuguese company, and three or 4 Chinese companies. This does not mean that the money for the roads came from Portugal or China. Portugal does not give aid to Malawi. Bids for large projects, be it roads or buildings are open to international bidders that is why we are getting companies from China and other countries. So to cut the story short, the name of the Chinese company will DISAPPEAR once they finish the project and handover the sports arena to the government. I must add that in Lilongwe right now there are so many road projects with some roads being expanded to 4 lanes and 6 lanes. The 6 lane road projects are fully funded by Malawi government but the contractors are Mota-Engil (Portugal) and the Chinese. However, there is "one" 4 lane road from Crossroads hotel to Kanengo industrial area that is fully funded by the Chinese government. The Japanese government are also expected to fund another section. The Chinese government has built the new parliament, a university, Bingu stadium (but not the new sports arena) and in the near future they will also build a judicial complex in Lilongwe. So I am not saying that China is not doing anything for Malawi but not all construction projects being worked on by Chinese construction companies in Malawi are funded by the Chinese government. I hope the difference here is clear.

USA have been working with African Countries for many, many decades. So what did the African Countries gain in all that time? Military Arsenals, Wars, de-forestation to clear lands for McDonalds beef, loss of natural resource leaving scorched, unusable and contaminated earth behind. Hence, after decades, African countries have been stuck, living in 3rd World conditions.
China has just started working with African Countries. So what have African Countries gained so far in the last decade? New AI Trading Ports (land, air and/or sea), running piped water to villages, new Civic Infrastructure, etc.
    Mmmm ... bloody big difference.

    • @cuteandfunnyearthlings2863

US says africans are not allowed to have this built by the chinese, at this rate africa will overtake US if you look at the state of US infrastructures in US its is so bad and old but at the same time US have billions to fund ukraines war but not for its own american people and the homeless.

@@cuteandfunnyearthlings2863 LMFAO. You're right. USA, who have done nothing for Africa but keep it in debt for decades, and having their Citizen live in poverty and constant Wars, due to USA supplying Military Arsenals to both sides ... are saying that Africa needs to be careful about China building them AI Trading Ports (Land, Air, and/or Sea), Roads, Bridges, Sporting Arena's, Water to their Villages, cheap commodities so their Citizens can start buying descent clothes, furniture, white goods, schools, electricity, etc.
The MAJOR problem with USA is that it is a CORPORATIST COUNTRY where 1% of the population own 90% of the country's wealth, and control every aspect of their government. Even the Citizens of USA can NOT stand the fact that they are controlled by EXTREME GREED driven Corporatist ... who don't even share their money with the rest of their own USA Citizens losing their houses, can't afford to buy basic Health Care, have poorly funded public education, etc. They just sit there in their yachts, or mansions, watching their own people suffering.

That makes the whole complex even more attractive.
Create green parks around the sports complex full of various typical African trees and plants and sports fields for sports and games.
And don't forget Hiking trails and resting places for the elderly
People have to keep the environment clean and tidy. Place trash cans everywhere.
