Joss stone deserves her flowers. Her name needs to be up there with Adele, Norah Jones and other great singer/song writer. She’s always being overlooked.
I believe among those that TRULY LOVE great music, she has LONG STOOD among the greats ... and ALWAYS WILL. Her live stage show is MAGICAL, not many can connect to the crowd like she does.
The first time I accidentally listened to this song was when I went to my wife’s parent house and we found the CD album in the drawer in my wife’s room and took it to listen to our car while driving back to our place. I love her voice immediately and listen to the whole album while driving again and again for months without knowing that she’s the gorgeous one as well until I see her in youtube. I think her voice deserves more views than this. What’s wrong with the world nowadays?

Joe Simon, Allen Toussaint, Waylon Jennings and several others did it much better to far less acclaim. While her version is the most unique, it guts the appeal the song had in the first place and her singing is so mannered and overwrought. Her best cover is Son of a Preacher Man. That one she nails.
