The problem may be has if found with the Nikon f 2xmount adapter for Tamron did not work . I purchased a Tamron to Nikon mount . It for a z7.2 no idea if the z 9 is the same. The list below I put z 9 it should have been z7.2. so we do need to check . The sales shop replaced the Nikon one as a return no fuss . I recommend that the purchase is done via a store for safety
I've got the 135mm F/2 DC as well and this is the main reason I was looking at the Viltrox adapter. I thought the gear drive autofocus motor meant that it could support autofocus on the lens that I mentioned like the D7000 and above cameras. Is that not the case?
This adapter is made for mirror less cameras. So you don't need it to mount an AF lens on a DSLR like the D7000. Mind you that the crop factor will make your 135mm appear to be longer on an aps-c camera like the d7000.
@@frederikboving I meant the Z cameras supporting autofocus on gear driven lenses like 135mm F/2 which only D7000 and above support in the modern DSLRs. Because the other FTZ adapters from Nikon don't support autofocus on pre AFS lenses on Nikon Z.
@@saurav_varma There are no autofocus motors in the Z cameras as far as I know. And building the af motor into the adapter I have not seen anyone do so far.
I have never owned a Youngnuo lens so I don't know from first hand experience obviously. I would consult the Viltrox list of compatible lenses to find the answer.
You have to consult the Viltrox homepage to find out if your specific lens is supported by the adapter- there are links since some of the previous posts.
@@frederikboving thank you very much for your response. Actually i went through their website but I couldn't find it. Although it's mentioned in photographs on the store but it's not mentioned in the list of supported lenses. I believe that list is old, so whether it supports AF P or not can only be confirmed by the user or contact creator.
Please be advised the latest firmware version 3.70 for the Z7 is buggy. You no longer can see non-cpu information with either the FTZ and FTZii adapter
I have just purchased this adapter and am very happy to say that it works with two Tamron lenses that are listed as being compatible and they worked on my Z9 which isn’t on the list of tested camera bodies. So happy! The lenses are the 15-30 G1 f/2.8 and the 90mm macro SP. I also have a Samyang 135mm f/2 manual focus lens compatible with f mount. I tried this as well with the voltaic adapter and it kind of works but not correctly. Aperture starts at f/5.6 instead of f/2. Is there a way I can contact Viltrox like you have so maybe they could tweak the firmware to include this lens? It would make me so happy as I truly love this lens and would be over the moon if I can use it again.
Hi Stephen, good to hear that the adapter works well! On their homepage, Viltrox gives this e-mail as contact: info@viltrox.com - maybe they would be interested in answering your question? AND I guess that if you tell them that their adapter works with Z9, that would be great news! All the best!
@@frederikboving Yes I will. It’s still early yet though. I’ve sent the letter before the weekend so wouldn’t expect them to answer just yet. Hope they do as that would show that they care for their customers. Since you got a reply I’m hopeful.
The AF motor would for sure make the sale go ballistic. But then Viltrox would need to find a way to make the focus system talk to the motor, and then it gets complicated. Could be why Nikon did not install an AF motor either.
@@frederikboving But again, given the limited list of supported lenses I think the only thing that would make people consider this adapter was if it supported something really valuable not found in Nikon's own adapter.

Thanks for the review. I've really liked Viltrox offerings for Nikon Z, but I think VILTROX MISSED THE BUS HERE... If they offered this with a drop in filter option it would sell like hotcakes. Maybe they'll see my commend t and come up with a version II with drop in filters 🙂
Hello sir, please suggest me the lens adapter for z mount lens to c mount camera body. I have c to f mount adapter to convert the camera body from c mount to f mount. pls reply me
Unfortunately it is not on the list of supported lenses, so I'm afraid there is no guarantee it will work ( viltroxstore.com/collections/mount-adapter/products/nf-z-auto-focus-f-mount-to-nikon-z-camera-mount-adapter )
I bought this adapter and it doesnt work with my Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 vr1 (doesnt autorocus) Btw the FTZ v1 adapter sucks 2, it had already "diead" 2 times with the same lens (after a few weeks it starts to dont recognise the aperture ) with my 50mm it doesnt give my any problems
Has anyone noticed that the adapter extends the focal length of the lens? I have the Z30 and D500 , so I tested 3 lenses, nikon 85mm, sigma30mm and tokina 11-16.. all shots with the D500 frm all 3 lenses are noticeably wider than with the Z30+ adapter. Im jst surprised since I hvnt found any videos talking abt this effect frm the adapter, mayb its the same w/ the FTZ .
Thanks for the useful video. Could you please send me the firmware that viltrox has sent you, that you mention at 5,25 minute of the video? I have already sent you an email. I own this adapter but after a firmware update it stopped working with most of the Nikon lenses.
@@frederikboving In fact the one on Viltrox HomePage caused the problem. There they have only one firmware that is version 1.21. They don't have an earlier version of the firmware on the webpage. Thanks for the reply. I will write an email to viltrox.
@@frederikboving Update: viltrox solved the problem very quickly via email. They have already sent me a newer firmware than the one on the website, that solved the problem. Now all my Nikkor D lenses work with NF-Z adapter. I am satisfied with viltrox.
If the Viltrox adapter has much less supported lenses (Nikon's adapter supports 90 lenses) and more errors, then it's just a poor and cheap copy of the original. It's also cheaper because Viltrox produces in China, whereas Nikon's is in Japan.
I have purchased this adapter as it made my Tamron 90mm macro and Tamron G1 15-30 usable again. Both lenses wouldn’t function well with the Nikon ftz2 adapter. So this may not be to everyone but if you’ve got lenses that are on their list then you’ll be a very happy fellow.

It's a good question. I have never noticed a change, but on the other hand I have not tested it either.
This is due to the sensor size on the Z30. It's a crop sensor therefore there's a magnifying factor of 1.5x.
Are you using the sigma 30mm 1.4 art?
does it have a firmware update now?
