    Very good; and here's a vital piece of additional info: when you have it set to the slowest speed, but the air is expelled in the last couple inches and the door slams, you can move the pin placement as per the tiny diagram on the closer visible at 3:19. If that doesn't do it, open the door halfway, use the stop on the arm to keep the door open, then loosen the screws on the right again visible at 3:19, and move the bracket more to the right (you can see the additional stops available on the bracket screwed to the door. The door should close quietly, unless you do want it to slam for animals, etc.

I’m commenting only because I was able to use the tip that you just shared to slow the closure of my door, but once it makes contact, there’s still a heavy slamming sound, just like in your video.what does one do about that? Is it a matter of thick weatherstripping or something to soften the contact?

    Every YT vid gives this same explanation. What about a Wright Products closer? When old one didn’t respond to any adjustments I bought a new one. Turning the screw does adjust slow or fast but slow won’t get door to the latch. With 1/8th turns I can creep up to fully closing. But then the door is closing faster than anyone can walk through. This causes screen damage and new visitors get the back of their ankles caught under the door as they’re being pushed into the house.

    • @fixitjohn
      @fixitjohn  ปีที่แล้ว

      You may need to adjust the piece that hooks to the closer. At 1:06 to 1:08 you will see two screws that are connected to the door that holds your closer. try loosening and adjusting that bracket. That may fix your problem. Thanks for watching.

    • @MrGoodaches

      @@fixitjohn Thanks for replying. I had repositioned the door bracket and was unable to perceive any difference in closing behavior.
      After playing with speed screw and moving bracket I just assumed I was dealing with a strut that had a worn out damper. Replaced it with the same Wright Products kit and got exactly the same behavior.
      11 houses, over two dozen of these type of closers so far in my lifetime and until now never had one that didn't adjust perfectly within 5 minutes.

      I think several companies are making them that way now. I’m trying to find a company that has it go relatively slowly until the end and shut quickly. We got new ones and they have taken my shoe off scraped the back of my ankle tripped and and pretty much have been worthless since then because we prop them open all the time. If you have any ideas about a replacement that fits what’s needed please let me know. I have severe arthritis in my spine and fibromyalgia so being harmed by my storm door is not acceptable. Thank you, and have a great day.

    • @fixitjohn

      Hi Linnea, it sounds like the frame is sagging. You may be able to lower your door by unscrewing it from the frame and reattaching it lower in the door frame. That might help if you have a gap at the bottom. Another solution would be to grind the top of the door down not the frame of the door. These are just some low-budget ideas. I hope this helps good luck.
