- Join me as I explore a brilliant custom made Geoguessr map in which just out of sight a famous attraction, landmark or monument will be lurking. Some places you may recognize, others you might not and you may be forced to rely on your geo detective skills to locate it.
PLAY ALONG: Play your round, put your marker down, then switch tabs back to TH-cam to watch my attempt and the result. This way you don't ruin the game or the video!

The adventure season begins next week. Make sure you are subscribed and belled up so you don’t miss adventure number 1!
looking forward to it - enjoyed doing my own straight line mission in October 26km, 2 days wildcamping.
Didnt know an adventure is comming. Im excited. Btw, you can easily replace the headphone ear pads for around 20£. Its worth it because they dont sound like supposed to when your ear is to close to the headphone speaker. Wish you all the best, thanks for the videos and music!
I wouldn't miss it for the world! Your videos always inspire me to take on my own adventures... Maybe one day my channel will do well enough we could have a wonky line vs straight line race!
I love these custom maps you’ve been doing, but I expected the whole time for the end of the video to be you looking at the actual monuments and stuff that was behind you haha I feel cheated lol keep up these great videos though and excited for the Adventure video!
Mate, I am so belled up waiting for the adventures! 🍆🔔 They've inspired me to do my own. Thanks for your hard work
The zooming is weird because if you zoom into anything except the exact middle of the screen, the view is adjusted to avoid panning.
take a screenshot and zoom in on the screenshot
@@nonames000Just press the Windows and the "+" Sign twice, and zoom in Windows itself.
Unpopular opinion: the adventures are always really great but as an oldschool viewer the OG detective geoguessr stuff is what I truly crave 😂
same
Same here. Tom explained some time alors that he was gonna keep both up because he has two distinct audiences. We represent the one I guess.
I came because of the adventure but this is the stuff I really like
*Same here mate. And I commented something similar about this few months ago and I got crucified. Damn! I got an unbelievable amount of hate and also likes for speaking my mind. Tom did make a video few days later explaining his position and basically said that on this channel he will post mixed stuff and not exclusively detective Geoguesser. :)*
I love all his video types both but the adventures are so memorable
The range of emotions I went through in just the 1st 5 min of this video...."No Tom, it's all the states, not just Wisconsin, oh whew he figured it out, Mt Rushmore - yeah, Washington D.C with that terrain, nooo...."
I knew immediately it was Mount Rushmore and I had to skip his guess, it was hard to watch 😂
Haha, the pain is real. That's so funny!
he zoomed in on wisconsin but for some reason not on the other writing in plain sight lol
Same! "Read the other pillars!!!"
As demonstrated in the video, his zoom waas very limited. He could only zoom straight ahead. Having said that, if he had one look at the surrounding trees, he should have realized his easterly guesses were suspect.
I got so excited when you noticed all of the flags on each pillar. That excitement was short lived.
hes a humble bloke, "you gotta laugh" indeed!
Thanks for playing my map @geowizard. I think of this map as a really fun alternative as it offers a seasoned traveller the opportunity to succeed without having all the latest meta knowledge. Stoked how you used your personal experience to nail your guesses. And Rd1 was like a rollercoaster, man!
loved the St. John's round, im from there lol
That first round is one of your funniest/unluckiest moments 😂😂
I know! I was screaming at my screen because he guessed it immediately, saw Wisconsin, and assumed that was the place.
@@proutytyler1 Yeah the foliage didn't look like anything in the East, definitely not the Great Lakes area, he was putting too much attention to written words
Yeah, he didn't notice that every pillar had different flags on it for all the states lmao
That's not luck that's gone wrong for him there.
@@MrJethroha It‘s even worse. He did notice it after some time 😂 Yet he stuck ith Wisconsin.
2:40 this gesture is the best ever, it deserves a medal lololol
lmao 😂
Would be great if you showed whats behind you/ the famous places after every round
I was screaming this at the screen 😂😂
Yeah this drove me insane.
Bud he can't pan
If you click on the maker on the results screen it takes you to the photosphere on Google Maps (where you can move smoothly)@@getsnipedhockey32
@@getsnipedhockey32 You can click the pin after the round to go to the actual google maps view
I think next time you play this map, it could be cool for you to click the pin to see the location in google maps and see what there was behind you after the round. I did it while i played and it was a nice addition.
The feeling of knowing the location before Tom knows the location is unbeatable
That fact that we weren’t show what was behind after the game is criminal, Tom!
you should turn around and look at the locations after you finish!
the waterfall was brilliant
Tom mixing up his own guess and the correct location at the end again lmao
I guess he'll get the hang of it once he gets a few more games under his belt...
When I saw the Museum of Broken Relationships I was yelling at the screen "C'mon, Tom, it's gotta be Split!"
Heh!
Perhaps in Split they have the Museum of Ultimate Ends of Relationships. You can regress as you drive down Croatia...
Ha!
I absolutely DIED when that first one turned out to be Mount Rushmore
Best channel on TH-cam. No silly opinions, aggression or distracting video editing. Minimal advertising. A handsome man. Interesting places. A charming man with a nice beard. Beautiful hands. Solid narration… but also humble and vulnerable. Not afraid to be self deprecating or questioning. Sometimes I think about you sleeping Tom
omg
😂😂😂😂
That Milwaukee Veterans Park thing was fucking bizarre. I love when shit like that happens
It's very rare that I come across a video released 6 seconds ago.
The Iceland one at the end - the famous place was "Dynjandi", which is a waterfall. However, on the map that just looks like the name of the river and doesn't jump out as marking anything famous. This is probably the cause of confusion at the end where he mixes up where he was and where he guessed he was - he didn't notice anything on the map marking something famous so he assumed he had guessed where the flag was, instead of where it said "GW".
As an Icelander, I've known of Dynjandi all my life. I've never heard of any of the other waterfalls, probably since they dwarf in comparison to the 100 meter high Dynjandi.
With your Icelandic wisdom, do you know the song at 20:41 ?!
It's my favourite waterfall in that beautiful country
I've been to Iceland in 2011, instantly recognized Dynjandi there... It was probably the trip that wrecked the tyres of our car (had to get new ones in Höfn ~a week later because they were done for), but the experience was just amazing. We didn't even plan to go there, but when we were about to leave Ísafjörður for our holiday home my mother suggested we take the scenic route back and stop at Dynjandi. So glad I didn't miss that.
Then again, I loved the entire trip even though the weather was really bad for half of it. I hope I make it back over there soon *.*
@@Jhollowed25The song is Ólafur Liljurós th-cam.com/video/rfjaob7FsTg/w-d-xo.html
Yosemite Falls in the United States is over 700m tall! That's dwarfs almost every other falls. The tallest is around 950m
22:00 hey, that’s my tent down there!
I’ve been cycling along that fjord and camped next to the river and waterfall.
I like how he focused on the funny name of Ken Butt in round 2 and completely missed the town called Dildo at 8:19
I love non-standard geoguessr content like this - plus your capitals, lakes, etc videos.
I really love the adventures but I just wanted to point out that I honestly find the geodetective videos more fun. I really like the adventures since they’re like a series that i look forward to watching every week but I would love if perhaps you could combine the two in some way. I was thinking being dropped in the city where a picture was taken and you have to find your way there without using a map on your phone. Like I would love to see you run around Vienna trying to find a specific place
Cool idea!
Everyone has different favourites, and I'm glad it's all here combined. :)
When geowizard uploads, your day gets better.
yes, it does. My Friday night suddenly improved! Let's play!
So true
I was literally watching this going "how funny would it be if he rolls a location I'm familiar with" and the second spot is a landmark I can see from my driveway.
As someone who knew it was Mount Rushmore the second it appeared on the screen that first round was so painful to watch lol.
Nice map choice! In my experience, a lot of these locations aren't exactly world famous, but the replayability is worth it.
I have to admit you had me screaming at you on the first one. You had it! 😅
That final one, the famous waterfall is actually Dynjandi. You should do a follow up video where you go to all those places and actually show what they look like!
I've been there -- pretty far out of the way but really worth it
Why don't you send him the money to pay for that trip and then he might do it. Some people, geez!
Except the first one, none the locations are very famous.
I immediately got Mt Rushmore but only because I visited it on vacation in the US.
Love when someone guesses right, but then out thinks themselves
Signal Hill is a lovely hike, visiting Newfoundland is always a treat 😊
I was losing my mind when he clicked away from the Queen's Battery to Signal Hill, the Queen's Battery is my favourite place to sit in the summer and watch the birds and the ships!
That first round was one of the most painful moments I've ever seen on this channel lol.
I recognized mt Rushmore immediately because when I visited it was foggy, and so the most interesting part to look at was the walkway with all the flags!😂
That first round was crazy how it was so coincidental and then the realization that it is what you had said prior
as a Canadian I gave you ZERO chance on Signal hill, and then you've just got it on your map within a few seconds.
As a speaker of Icelandic, i can tell you that your pronunciations of the names of the waterfalls were adequate, which is a far sight better than most others :)
Crazy that in this whole world I happen to be from St. John's and I can see signal hill out my window while watching this
Me too! I love the Queen's Battery, great spot to sit in the summer!
Im from Sweden and did an exchange semester at Memorial University. St. Johns is really nice city and the view of Signal hill while standing at Fort Amherst is hard to beat!
The SECOND Signal Hill showed up I was screaming! I live in St. John's and go up quite often! Very familiar view of 'the Narrows', the inlet you were talking about 😊😊
And yes I know people with the last name Butt 😅
Same. I was like... is that fort Amherst? XD
i know right hahaha i recognized it straight away, im in st john's too
As soon as I saw fort Amherst I knew it was St Johns. Great hike right across the water.
I enjoyed this video a lot. It was nice to get a fresh take on OG content. It's also nice seeing you in much happier moods. Your hard work and commitment towards yourself has been lovely to see over time. Cheers Tom!
A nice story about R3. My wife and I, on three separate occasions, have taken a picture together every day for a year. No matter what. In 2016, I took her to Europe and we took a picture in front of the church that was in the back ground. It has the Croatian flag tiled into the roof. It was during our 2nd every day project. The last project started Jan 1, 2020. Imagine how that turned out with COVID. It's a nice little time capsule of how life was, how we went into lockdown, and what it became. Doing our 4th project this Jan 1, because I turn 50 in 2024.
OMG On #1 I knew it was Mount Rushmore immediately despite having never been there. It was the twisty pine trees that did it (I HAVE been to South Dakota and the Black Hills)
I did not get the Aleppo Citadel, despite having been there. I imagine it's changed a teeny tiny bit since 1993.
Thank you for using your voice to speak out about such practices! I wasn’t raise Mormon but it has been helpful for me to understand what’s going on “behind the curtain.”
It would be great if you could swap over to another tab after each round to actually show us the famous place!
that was hilarious. The very first time you said Mt Rushmore, I said Yep! Then it was excruciating watching you go everywhere except there.
How never thought I would ever see a place that I’m from on this channel but I knew the second photo as soon as it popped up! Awesome
Newfoundlander here! So excited to recognize Signal Hill right away, I think it’s the first time I’ve seen NL featured in one of your vids
The comedy of errors in the first round couldn’t have been more perfect 😂
On man, I was so relieved when you finally realized you weren't in Wisconsin.
I spoke too soon.
I laughed so hard at the first guess, just what I needed. Thanks!
That first guess was amazing, knowing immediately it was Mt Rushmore, hearing you say it, and then just lose your head and not even look for it at all was nuts. To be fair, you couldn’t really see the mountains around there. Had you had some on the horizon, you wouldn’t have thought a park in a city like that.
Usually i am impressed on this channel but the first guess had me cackling
8:22 Hey watch it--Butt is one of the wealthiest families on the face of this earth.
The choice of music is always perfect, thanks Tom!
"Sigurðarson" = "He's a good arsonist" had me in stitches
Íslandsklukkur is one of my favorite albums!! Happy surprise to hear them in the video.
3:00 The maps description is that a second time visitor would recognise the landmark and that it's not necessarily world famous.
I'm so glad I decided to play along because I was shocked when my home city of St. John's appeared! Of all the places. I was just there a few days ago where that photo was taken
Hey Tom, I think if you do this map again it would be cool to check out the sites we were supposed to be looking at at the end of the vid!
You and I played the exact same game until the last round, I played Wisconsin, got Newfoundland, 3 points off in Croatia, I then played Jerusalem, but crashed and burned in Greenland in the last round ending up with 18k. Thanks for the challenge!
"He's a good arsonist" was so outta pocket 😂
You got confused on the last location between where you guessed and where the actual location was. Both waterfalls that were labeled on the map were in front of you. The largest waterfall the Dynjandi waterfall, is behind you. For some reason, it's labeled in a smaller font on the map.
I want to hear more about the "interactive chocolate" in Croatia.....
1. You said My. Rushmore, but went down a silly rabbit hole with Wisconsin. Particularly after noticing that all state flags were there.
The trees and greenery were another clue.
As a Milwaukee resident I was cracking up at this. Veterans park is as flat and open as it gets. It's known for having great views of the skyline and the lake.
Props on the icelandic songs in the fifth round, not sure I would have gone for traditional new-years songs, but to each his own I guess...
Very relieved to know we were indeed recording. Cheers mate!
Haven’t watched the video yet but this is a hilarious concept, I love it.
tbf the first round is much more fun to watch when you still get it wrong in the end. and kudos for pinpointing the other four!
Spent the whole of the first one screaming "look at the vegetation/landscape" at my screen. To no avail.
I really wish there was some 24/7 security cam that would capture the times Tom wasn't recording.
That sped up Icelandic music had me giggling. You're a funny guy Tom
Do you know the song title??
The coordinates from the images around the one on Iceland are definitely not in agreement with each other, but the waterfall is astonishing.
The start to this video is majestic
The anticipation for the new adventure vidoe is killing me inside geowizards adventures are my all-time top TH-cam guiltily pleasure
I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years now, just want to say not only are they fantastic and interesting, they are hilarious. Usually always find myself laughing at your humour in your videos, especially at the music you put in when speeding them up! Thanks for the great content!
The museum of broken relationships should be moved to Split.
As a native South Dakotan the first round was hard for me to watch. My father worked there years ago so I've been many a time. But it was cool to finally see my home state on this channel, as we tend to be under represented on geogussr
I pulled a muscle recently and that pantomime joke really got it aching.
I got 14,467. Like you, I thought the first one was in Wisconsin. The second one, unlike you, I didn't realise that Canadian houses look a bit like Norwegian ones and chose a fort on Oslo Harbour. Third one, I chose Dubrovnik rather than Zagreb. Fourth one, I opted for the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem. Fifth one, I got that it was Iceland but was a fair way off the mark.
First round had more plot twists than a good thriller.
And there is a bistro called Brokenships next to the museum. I love it. Might register it as my middle name.
All of your videos are so relaxing to watch mate. I dunno what it is, you just keep it real and chilled. Very entertaining 👊🏼
Nice job! I’m used to folks panning to the distinctive monument behind. Missed that bit of content, out of curiosity, and understand that’s not the game for you.
Start of round 3, I was sat there thinking “Shut up explaining your logic Tom and zoom in so I can read the language” 😅 an almighty relief when you eventually zoomed in 😅😅
"Well done if you got Mount Rushmore...pricks" 😂😂😂 lmao love it
TOP COMEDY TOM. It was gold when you ruled out your first guess because it wasn't in Wisconsin, slowly realized this could be in any state, then completely forgot you even made a first guess not 30 seconds later. My ADHD brain is doing this sort of thing all the time, I feel this on another level.
Tom not zooming in on the left pillar was so painful to watch. like to agree. haha
As an experienced AOE2 player, I am proud to not be surprised by the Aleppo round in this one. 😄
Dude I LOLed @mount Rushmore. Also I did not realize its so close to Nebraska
Your pronunciation of Milwaukee was spot on!
I was so proud of just getting the country right on the third one, and then GeoWizard start talking about how he's pretty sure he's been to there
23:54 That sideswing with the eyes makes me question your promise xD
“ well done if you got Mt. Rushmore… pricks…” made me spit up my drink 😂😂
Seeing Signal Hill/St Johns Newfoundland is crazy! Never thought id see my hometown featured on here
Aggrivated tf out of me assuming Wisc and not recognizing all different state flags or multiple states listed on the columns. ffsf. glad you finally figured it out
The first one was a damn JOURNEY.
Lol, I recognized that path as the walkup to Mt. Rushmore immediately. At least you floated the guess!
