OMG seeing Neil Adams as an old man is something of a shock! I used to see the young fit Adams at the Budokwai club in London, UK, in the last century where he was known for his superpower of having a superb sense of balance. My teacher there was originally Syd Hoare, before I focused mainly on Aikido. Thank you for your MA videos Chadi, full of substance in contrast to the overwhelming amount of rubbish from shameless money grubbers who appeal to the mindless masses... keep up the good work, man.
I would have loved to train with Sid Hoare! I love his book The A to Z of judo. I wish he had put in the Atemi Waza to a show the completeness of Judo though!!! Great video with Sensei Adams by the way!!
I've only heard about Neil Adams a few weeks ago when a Chinese Sensei mentioned him in my judo class in the UK. He was amazed that no one in the dojo knew who Neil Adams was and after watching a few videos about him I am amazed too. To my excuse I am not Brit and only started judo recently but I guess it is a pity that the new generation (at least in my Dojo) never heard of him.
I would highly recommend Neil adams' book "game of throws" as an audio book as between chapters there are interviews with Neil elaborating on the details. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Chadi is worried Judo is becoming a sport instead of a complete martial art for self defence. Niel is worried Judo becomes redundant to other sports and people lose interest in it entirely. Both are very valid concerns but the middle ground is very simple: Schools train the complete martial art and if you wish to compete you adapt to its rules. It's not difficult for a pure kickboxer to stop kicking in a boxing match. But it is difficult if not impossible for a pure boxer to fight in a kickboxing match. Without this simple commonsense solution Chadi's fears will come true and for Niel people won't take Judo seriously as BJJ and Wrestlers have already illustrated. In the end Judo loses by becoming watered down entertainment and it's history forgotten at the hands of the institutions that should preserve it. Perhaps Chadi the next time you speak with Niel you can more accurately bring up these points along with the one and only commonsense solution.
@@Chadi i would argue that if you're not doing self defense, using atemi to set up your grips and/or striking defense then you're not doing "actual" Judo/ju jutsu" "as it was intended. People seem to not grasp that judo/ju jutsu/jiu jitsu was the original mixed martial or fighting art. So the "I just want to do judo " comment is kind of upset . But he's about the politics so of course he will side with IJF IOC etc. And they're fine with the original art disappearing .
As somebody who is feeling shame & disappointment due to life trajectory/circumstances, this has been a very enlightening & much appreciated dialogue!
Legend. Thanks Chadi.

YES!!!!!
Bendiciones!!!! Estupendo Contenido!!!!!
There’s need to be a part 2, and speak deeply about Ne Waza 😌
Neil Adams, brother of the late professional wrestler Chris Adams!
Chadi you should do a interview with Geoff thompson, he is also well trained in judo, freestyle, Greco-Roman Nd sombo wrestling
in my opinion leg grabs where one hand is grabbing the leg should be allowed
Yeah I mean when you take out leg moves it's hard to make an argument for self-defense
Man I love Neil Adams, I know him only as a commentator. A splendid one.

Any time stamp on the self defense part of the conversation?
"..I just want to do judo. I don't want to fight on the beach or the street." Thank you. let's please move on.
It was a great talk, he had a different vision of judo, and different priorities.
