Bloomberg Opinion: Sunak Called Election Because He's 'Had Enough'

  • Bloomberg Opinion columnist Adrian Wooldridge says British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's decision to call a surprise election for July 4 was not dictated by "any real reason" and will almost certainly mean the end of 14 years of Conservative rule. Speaking on Bloomberg Television, he says Labour's message of coherence "is almost impossible for Sunak to overcome." Wooldridge's opinions are his own.

Nobody voted for Sunak. No one wants him now. Several of this own MPs have put in letters of no confidence since yesterday.

"Given that inflation is coming down." She actually says this with a straight face. We're not talking about your silly 'headline' moniker. We can't afford to feed our children. Simple.

It will be so funny if the conservative party wins again. My family and i believe its been the best decade ever. Especially for our business. My parents own a small consultancy company and we applied for the furlough scheme, It was great we didnt have to spent a single penny paying our employees. The money that we saved as a company helped my sister to buy a small 5 bedrooms villa in turkey. It comes with wsimming pool, jacuzzi and all that jazz. Its great! We are thankful on the Great Britain Government helping us out. This is why this country is GREAT.

Sounds terrific, kid.. but furlough is just money covered by insurance that your father must have paid for a decade😂

I would be happy to see the back of Sunak and his cronies, however the thought of Starmer and his cronies does not feel me with hope.

Difference is the current lot have a proven track record of consistently decimating the country and it's future, for the benefit of the themselves and the monied lobbies, estate owners, and media conglomerates that fund them at the expense of the vast majority of people. The solution to ending years of Tory negligence and money grabbing is to end it at the polling booth.
Keeping the Tories in because you dont understand how the alternative works would mean you're the problem not the solution, ie: how we got here in the first place. The Tories put this country back many many years, it's going to take massive restructuring and forward thinking over many years to slowly claw back the affluent higher standards of living we all could have had in an alternate 2024 without the many years of compounding Tory rot and unfathomable opportunity cost.

Have a lot more hope of a better outcome with Labour in power, than another 5 years of Tory corruption.

What makes you think they're any better? Starmer can't tell you what a woman is, or define working class... then you have Diane abbot (Complete nutjob) and Tony "murderer " Blair....think we'll do better? All wef stooges and no real interest in people or politics

It's obvious as to why Sunak want's the election now and Not November, the economy is going to get worse. By getting out now the Tories can leave Labour to take the blame.

We've had enough of his lying and no action. Nobody has dared mention stopping the boats. Rwanda is also lie as we have to send one of theirs to counter sending one of ours (and we gave him 3k ad a bribe)....
