As I accumulate food for pantry stable foods I purchased the Phillip’s Pasta Maker and will be dehydrating for future use. I got encouraged to buy one when I saw that there were many Italians that use it for making their pasta. Haven’t used mine yet as I just received it but the process is very quick and ready within 15 minutes.
@@rspryngfarmcountry4487 so instead of making pasta like I thought I would I waited 10 months and then did it. But I again I loved the process and it is so time consuming but also so worth it and such a great way to use the farm fresh eggs
Thank you for this informative video! I have been looking for a video that explains the process of dehydrating and storing pasta and this helped so much!
Sure can! Just sit it out on tea towels or wracks over night and you have dried pasta to add to your pantry. The dehydrator just speeds up the process.
i had that same dehydrator. it's awesome, so quiet. using my power airfryer oven now for dehydrating. your videos are the best for this attachment, i've watched many others.
You're so inspiring, thank you for sharing this knowledge. Haven't looked yet but can you link the kitchen aid pasta attachment if you haven't already. Thank you!
I boil for the typical amount of time, so 7-9 min depending on which pasta it is and thank you so much for watching and commenting. I truly appreciate it!
I find that boiling it for 2 to 3 minutes works best for me now I’m not saying that’ll work best for everyone but that’s what works best for me so I just thought I would share my experience
Wow Krystol,, that is a HUGE amount of pasta! Yay for you guys. Don’t you just love having a dehydrator?! It’s such an awesome way to preserve food and add to your food storage. Great job❣️
Yeah it made enough to last for months! I was one happy girl lol took all day but so worth it. Now to make more jerky, I eat that daily so it sure doesn't last lol
Have you tried your dehydrated pasta yet? I did a small batch and it had a very weird texture. I used the lowest heat setting. Pasta was crumbling and had a weird texture after cooking
Hello! I see You are an expert in pasta making, and I thought, maybe You can help me. I have made some Rigatoni pasta with classical recipe (250 gram eggs, 500 gram normal 00 flour) with a Marcato Regina pasta extruder machine. I have made some beautiful Rigatoni pasta, and I put them to dry at room temperature. next day all my Rigatoni has cracked, and I don't know why. Can You help me, with any suggestion?
What is the difference in shelf life from dehydrated and just regular dried? Or is it the same? I’m guessing the process is the same for dehydrating long noodles like spaghetti?
Your channel was just shared with me. I am so glad to have found you! I love making homemade pasta although I don’t have any pretty attachments (yet). I have been wondering how I could dry and store pasta for busier days. Curious if it keeps well for awhile?
Hello! Thank you so much for your kind words. We are looking forward to watching your channels as well, it's all right up our alley ❤️ and yes, once fully dried out it has a shelf life of 20+ years, so worth the time invested.
So we tried this ourselves this weekend, but ran into what I would say is an issue. Maybe you have some ideas? We used a basic recipe, flour, eggs and a pinch of salt. We have a pasta attachment for our kitchen aid mixer, so we rolled out the pasta, and then used the spaghetti attachment. Laid out on dehydrator screens, and dried for 3 hours. I found though, our pasta was extremely brittle. Just trying to get them off the screens and in bags/jars, they broke in small pieces. We cooked a small batch to test, and they tasted great. But not sure why they were so brittle. I don't see how we could vacuum pack them without it just crushing them to tiny pieces. Any ideas, thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Hey awesome video! I like your energy as well so I subscribed :) Can I dehydrate the pasta in a regular oven ? Or can I dehydrate it in the sun ? For now I just store fresh pasta in the freezer Thank you ! ♡
Thank you so much for watching! You can definitely do the oven if your oven will go low enough, but you can also dry on racks right on your counter. There is no wrong way, just different methods take different times, so you can do what works for you 😊

I got one, too. However, being a mile high above sea level, plays a huge part. Never can keep my machine from gumming up. Hope you have better luck.
I am about to make my first batch and didn't want to freeze it so I am so excited for this process. Thank you.
That's awesome! Let me know how it turns out 🙂

Thanks Bryan! Yes we love it! We also have the spiralizer and cheese shredder and they are all heavily used around here lol

Yes obviously! It really is so much more difficult than that. Look up “ Alex French cooking guy. “ You won’t regret it. This channel is really crap.
Great video!
Thank you so much! Appreciate you watching
Is it work without dehydrator machine? If just let it air dry? Thank you

It will be the same, dehydrated just speeds up the drying process is all, but both methods will keep in a dry area the same ❤️
can we dry it in sunlight .if dry it in sunlight how many hours it will take
I am not sure, will depend on many factors, but it can definitely be done but you'll just have to lay it out and check it often.

Cook it /boil. It only takes about 3 mins to cook fresh pasta then dehydrate it til dry.
I put mine in the freezer immediately after cutting it up. I learnt the hard way🙃
@@girlgonewisej With the invetion of the freezer seems to be more easy storage pasta, drying pasta could be a headheache, better freeze them all.

Is your pasta brittle after using the dehydrator?
It is definitely very dry but not brittle in that it's easy to break or fall apart
Have you done ravioli using this method?
I haven't but depending on your filling it could definitely work!

You can par boil if you like but either way you'll fully cook the pasta before eating so no worries of salmonella.
