American journalists (well, there are only about 5), so I should say, those pretending to be journalists, are activists and narcissists looking to be seen rather than to hear someone else. A wonderful change of pace it is to hear someone who isn't that way.
Martin will always be my McDreamy, but Dave has my heart. Always open, real and vulnerable, he's is the conduit of the music with the listener, an interpreter or catalyst of the art. He's an amazing front man, and I love that he has been contributing his writing over the later half of the band's career.
Loved the interview! Dave is such a nice guy who crawled really deep in life but rose up and fighted the hard way. DM is one of the most important bands for me. Looking forward to the album Memento Mori and the tour. If they can come to Portugal in 2024, I will do (almost) anything for a ticket. 😁
I would not go as far as to say it's the best interview, but it is one of them. As someone said below - thanks to the intelligent interviewer/questions. Too many interviewers ask the wrong questions, stupid questions, predictable questions that bore the hell out of DM.

Wonderful, contemporary music rarely has a significant meaning that I can find. Listening to Depeche Mode is a way I honored my husband after he passed in 2016. Enjoy the Silence, really brought me peace and comfort. The new album, provokes a lot of personal symbology in the title and the release date of the album; as that was the day my loved one, passed. I think Depeche Mode's music has always been a combination of euphoria and melacncholy, and given the fact that the conceptual framework for this album is the subject of finding light in the face of one's own mortality, I really do believe it has the potential to be one of their best.
