This was the best and most practical set up I’ve seen yet! Bravo!

Thanks very much! I use it all the time.
So elegantly simple. TY! 👍
Glad you like it!
Less involved than some other plein air ideas, but still highly functional- thank you for sharing!
Very cool Andy. I got one of those tripods after your recommendation. They are v good value. I also use mine to hold my iPad.
What a fantastic idea. Brilliant 😊

Absolutely elegant!
Thank you.
Although I can’t do it now..watching this and seeing there’s others; as I get ready to move, I think I’ll keep my broken easel. It was supposedly one of the better ones, bragged of being made in the US with “superior workmanship”
When I first got it a few months ago, I knew I was in trouble when a bunch of tiny broken plastic pieces fell out of the bag. I live in a tiny town, am legally blind/don’t drive…and our 1 local taxi charges over $25 for round trip to our local PO. Returning broken products just isn’t worth the extra money and I do what I can to improvise. (I got a large ceramic palette last week, broken into 4 pieces. Pieced it back together with some gorilla glue my daughter got me last month-looks ALMOST brand new except for one edge that the pieces were basically powder. Right now, I just have waterproof, duct tape over the sharp edges. I’ll figure out something more permanent after I move & get settled). I WAS able, with tape and glue, to fix the bottom part of the easel..but the top part that holds a tray, fancy adjustable easel back-it’s beyond help. I WAS just going to throw away the entire $70 easel….BUT, the bottom is fine and I can even still fold it up to put it in the case. Once I get to my youngest daughter’s city; together with public transportation, lots of Home Depot/Lowes and she said there’s a small lumber yard down the road..(I think they are hoping I’ll make some more weird furniture I used to build. I am NOT a carpenter, no longer have most of my tools; but she said her husband has some. We’ll see. I prefer just painting these days)
Using you’re and others examples; I’m sure I can improvise something! 😁
Hi! Amazing work! Where were you able to buy the plywood for the backboard?
Thanks. I bought it at a hardware store.
Andy, do you sell this wooden easel kit? I already have the tripod but very disappointed in the easel kit the Etsy seller sold. Inherent flaws with the choice of ultra thin wood that warps.
Hi Shannon, no I'm sorry but I don't sell them ready made, but I do have complete plans for making one at www.diyeasel.com
It's easy to do with a minimum of materials and tools.
What sort of palette is it that you use?
It was a Winsor & Newton sketchers pocket set.

Interested in the bag. Is there a link you can share?
Hi Kathy. Sorry no link as I just bought the bag in a local shop. Hope you can find something similar, perhaps online?
