(The business of college basketball and how it works)
Division 1 collegiate institutions: (such as Duke university , Kentucky university , Kansas university , just to name a few)
profits huge off of college basketball yearly.
(How colleges make money from their basketball programs)
Major division 1 college programs gross 100’s of millions of dollars per year from game ticket sales, jersey sales, fan gear and stadium food sales. 100% of The revenue is grossed by the student athletes, the players,
and they are paid 0 dollars of it..... the college institutions pocket every penny for themselves. And give the players none at all.
This is how collegiate basketball programs make their money.
However, it doesn’t stop there.
College institutions aren’t the only ones profiting large off of college basketball.
How do television networks profit from college basketball?
World famous Television networks such as: (ESPN, CBS, NBC network, just to name a few) generate millions of dollars per year from division 1 college basketball as well. They make money from live game coverage and television ratings.
the student athletes generate ten’s of million of dollars per year for these mega television networks, and the companies decide to pay the student athletes literally nothing at all. And pocket every penny of the money for themselves. This is highly immoral indeed.
Starting to see the pattern?
But it doesn’t stop there I’m afraid to say.
(World famous Shoe and clothing companies such as NIKE, ADIDAS, UNDER ARMOR)
Also profit immensely from division 1 college basketball as well; grossing nearly tens of millions of dollars per year from college basketball in a yearly grossing period.
College institutions, World famous shoe corporations and television networks have made billions(yes you are reading this correctly), BILLIONS, of dollars from division 1 college basketball over the last 3 decades, and the players received not a single penny of it.
All of The money was pocketed by large scale cooperations and college institutions. M
College basketball is a billion dollar business, and these student athletes are in fact employees whom are NOT paid anything at all.
For this reason;
Division 1 College basketball is indeed both extremely immoral and corrupt from a business practice perspective.
These extremely talented and hard working young men, unfortunately to say, have all been severely exploited, by means of “free labor without compensation.” Or slavery.

All season long we have heard the Big Ten was unbeatable. Now Ohio State, Michigan State, Purdue, Illinois, Wisconsin, Rutgers, and Iowa have all lost.

Dude this is not an upset I don't know what a upset is first of all Oregon was 21- 6 and was the pac-12 regular season champion. while Iowa was 22-8 now 22-9. In any other year Iowa would've been like a 5 or 6 seed.
Just like football nobody stay up in the east coast to watch our games. If they did they would know how much competition is in our league.

it is good, they're just choking
especially with no fans, and the fact they're in indiana (the state they like to lose in ever since msu won there in 2000)

Oregon was slept on this whole year. Their whole starting 5 gets buckets, and Duarte and Omoruyi can both get 20 each whenever they want. I get that Iowa has Garza, but other than him and Weiskamp, no other dude can be relied on to score consistently.

@@jcarlos4458 I get it lol. It’s an exaggeration though. 2 seeds losing to 7 seeds isn’t that uncommon. In fact, 3,4,5,6 seeds losing early in the tournament isn’t uncommon or even really a surprise lol
As a KU fan, these Oregon Ducks will be really scary for us if we get past USC.

Conference of Champions
Both teams played great today. Oregon was just playing out of their minds. They just simply caught fire and Iowa just couldn't keep up. By no means was Iowa terrible today; Oregon was just THAT good today and played unbelievably good. 80 points will win you a good deal of games, but Oregon was just able to get hot scoring 95 points and is ultimately advancing.
iowa was scoring, but i have watched every oregon game this year not a single defense in the pac12 plays worse defense than what i saw. not just the three point shooting from oregon but also getting into the lane for easy buckets at will

Iowa fan here. We always struggle against athletic teams which is pretty much oregon's entire roster.. The big 10 was beyond embarrassing in this tourney

Oregon has mot shot that well all year. That was a crazy shooting performance plus insane ball movement. Teams don’t usually play that well two games in a row. But I hop they can. PAC 12 is showing that any given year they can play with anyone
Normally I would agree, but Oregon has shot that well a few times this year! They were 65% from 3 against Oregon State a few weeks ago! But this was definitely their best overall performance, no doubt. Hoping they can get a rematch against USC. That would be cool for the Pac-12!

The superior athletes won. Iowa couldn't hide and Garza showed how his slowness and lack of strength for his size will prevent him from being an impact player at the NBA level. A 6'6" guy basically overpowered and ran circles around him.

Another example of the seedings being way off in this tournament. A 7/10 winner beating the 2 seed in the second round is common - but it's not common for the 2 seed to not even belong on the floor with the supposed 7 seed. You can't even call these upsets when the low seed is so clearly the superior team.

Ranking is a joke. Big Ten team except Michigan lost many games but still got 5 spots in 16 seedings. PAC 12 has only USC ranked 16, but after losing on guest court Colorado and Utah, they fall out of rankings, and put in 6 seed. Then they won Stanford and UCLA, but still got six seed in the tournament.

Yeah Oregon got slept on a little, I had them winning this one purely because Iowa's defense is horrible. Way too many easy baskets and when you aren't hitting your shots you get behind easily leaving the lane open like that against a team like Oregon.
