Plato saw the need to liberate man from the cave but also recognized the great deficiency in the power of philosophy alone to persuade most men to abandon its shackles; Christ, the true light who enlightens every man, was born in the cave at Bethlehem in order to draw men out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Good stuff. Exactly why Paul had his ass handed to him when he preached at the Areopagus in Athens. However - there is still a light in Plato, and Platonic philosophy - via Neoplatonism was crucial in the development of Christian Thought. I look at it this way: Christian thought emerged from the confluence of Platonic, Aristotelian and Hebraic thought, to form the Judaeo-Christian tradition. The prosaic Romans gave us Law. But happily, Christian thinking is not wed to any particular Philosophical system, because of just that existential component: the encounter with God in history. Which of course, we still have to articulate with the concepts we have in any particular epoch, but which can be ever deepened. There will always be a tension between what we can say, and the experience of God's Revelation. Socrates' description of the eros of ascent to Beauty in the Symposium comes to mind.
It depends on what Gospel specifically because the Bible leaves out some of the other Gospels and for that alone Plato would have had a field day over the art of rhetorics in the Bible due to certain Gospels being left out in order to control and decieve the ignorant masses, what is even more interesting is that around Platos time he had a negative opinion about the Sophists using the art of rhetoric to decieve others instead of use it for TRUTH to cast out the spirit of ignorance. When I read the Gospel of Sophia (Mary Magdalena the one supposed to take over the role of master teacher after Jesus) I witnessed the healing power and freedom Jesus and Mary presented in their words with eachother about the actual truths and the 3 Mysteries of the soul and spirit that would probably guide Christians away from relying only on the Bible even though there are verses that state it's only meant to be a learning tool, it's kind of hard to manipulate the minds and energy of people on a roster that attend church every Sunday whenever they know the TRUTH about the romanization program that had lived rent free in the generational subconscious for centuries. So it was nice to see that somewhere Jesus picked up on a legitimate concern Plato had before his death, and Jesus being a Healer...worked with Mary to write the Gospel of Sophia in cause to prevent deceptive behavior and show wisdom as a woman edifying souls with truth (Proverbs is considered poetry and not law, but the universe moves poetically in flow with all but of course its not super direct) and due to ego and high-culture church governments ,scribes and priests etc. still left out The Gospel of Sophia, I remember being in church services as an adolescent and there was a sermon done about reading the other works outside of the Bible, and I found that weird because even as an adolescent I sensed something to be off with the Bible, like the stories had gaps (cant language) and my soul knew it but I didn't have the vernacular to explain it, and the violence in the Bible did not make sense to my soul because the God I know is not violent, angry and throwing temper tantrums like an egotistical Narcissistic maniac (Gray witches do that crap), Don't get me wrong there are some good things in the Bible but when you read it with spiritual eyes you can see that a lot of the scriptures are about what not to do again to prevent entanglement and repeat the wrong doings of our forefathers so essentially it all leads back to Mary who taught Nosis that is self mastery and leaving behind the ego to become a spirit body and turn away from the vices of the flesh the material body, and through that discipline then you receive heavenly rewards that are better than the worldly vices we left behind. Honestly our souls are here just training and healing energies but because these meat suits our souls wear...there had to be an established economy to survive, kind of like how when the military deploys they set up a FOB or establish a BASE for sustainability. And if you really want to gain some knowledge about how everything is hidden in plain sight via spelling it out in everyday literature and by reading and sticking with someone else's narrative than owning your own self...just research ONTOLOGY (Information Science) and how ancient China, Rome, and Greece framed the lenses of the masses, there is no coincidence that most of our products come from CHINA and how by touching and buying those products creates an energetic chord with the soul and spirit that linked it to greed and slavery...your guilty by association and that's one of the hidden truths about "do unto others as you want done unto you" so humanity stayed stuck in greed and slavery via unconsciously and ignorantly being submissive followers instead of leaders over the domains. Everything is kinetic and potential energy, frequency on the electromagnetic field of relativity, it's always a pleasant reward when we seek truth first practice prudence way before we drain energy chasing down money, truth, wisdom and knowledge always follow into the next life because thoughts are energy and bring more fruit than anything else in life.

The problem though was that the Gospels especially John's in its fine print, was influenced by Greek philosophy.
Why is this a problem?
