Very informational. How do the actual fruits compare for the varieties you’re growing? Did you protect them their first winter here in Phoenix? thanks

We have a open fence in the north side of the yard. Is it okay to plant guavas close to open fence?

Love how all the plants are planted close together, you said they were planted 2 feet from the wall and planted 2 feet from each other for the guavas, is that the same for the fig tree how far apart did you plant the other trees from each other? On the other side of the guavas is that a pomegranate tree? I’m just trying to get an idea of how far apart I should plant my plants. I know my stone fruit and apples I will plant closer together, but not sure if I should plant everything that close. I’ve already planted a Barbados cherry and a fig tree A little over 4 feet apart.

Yes the fig tree is also within two feet of the guavas. In fact, all of our 60 plus trees are within two to three feet of each other and that helps in our harsh winters and summers. Yes, there are two pomegranate trees next the the guavas. The hummingbirds love the pomegranate trees!

In Las Vegas, we sometimes get to minus 5 degrees in winter. Can we grow guava?

They are cold hardy upto 32F (temps of the roots). You can grow them by having a good winter protection with lots of mulch (2-3ft in winter) and wrap around in cloth/blanket/burlap to retain the mulch in and around the trunk for a couple of feet
