Also.. don’t buy things because you think you will need it (if you for example want to start a hobby or side business). First try to rent, borrow or buy second hand basic material. Upgrade only when you are sure you’ll continue for a longer time and only if necessary

Rachel's absolutely right. Buy a used Honda year 2005 or so, make sure it was well-maintained, budget a few dollars for repairs, and drive it very soft and easy, it will last a long time. I own 3 vehicles outright and will never make a car payment again, a used Honda with 100k miles is worth every penny.

This video was produced before gas prices raised. I have a grocery store 1/2 mile away. Aldi is in the next town and a 30 minute drive away. So, the cost of the gas & wear & tear on my car negates that in my book not counting the hour round trip drive! My time is money too.

Great tips, and I already own my car and haven't had a car payment for over 5 years!! And as for your FB friends recommendations - I used to always line-dry my laundry in the summer until recently (I live in a forested area with lots of firs and pine trees, and tree sap is NOT something you want on your clothing), and since I stopped line-drying my laundry, I've found that my seasonal allergies have all but disappeared. Apparently, those with allergies to pollen (me) and grass should never dry their laundry outside because all those allergens get imbedded into the fabric. Who knew?!?!?!?

Paying yourself first (sending the money to a completely separate account) is a discipline I've been practicing for a while now and it has been very helpful to me. A minimum of 10% is ideal but if you can do more, it helps. This has made a tremendous impact on my finances.

If your local grocery shops are like mine, you can comparison shop right from home. I make my list, have both the local store and Walmart's sites open and then go through my list comparing prices and choosing the best deals. Really doesn't take much longer than actually shopping in store, and you avoid all the usual suggestive selling traps.
Added bonus-- choose curbside pickup if you can. That way you'll avoid delivery fee/tip costs.

$500/ month at restaurants!?!?! Do people actually do this?! This blew my mind! I live on a farm, an hour from the nearest city, so going to a restaurant for a meal is like a once a month event (or less!) for my husband and I. And we think it's so expensive every single time we go. It hurts so much to spend that kind of money on food when even just groceries alone is expensive now. I just can't imagine spending $500 every month at restaurants when you also have groceries to buy...

Tip 7-A, pay extra on your mortgage every month. Paying it off quicker will save on all that interest. Getting a bonus? Dump it on the mortgage, provided all your other debts are paid off. Imagine having your house payment to invest every month! In a few short years that will add up fast. Quit making others rich, make yourself rich instead. -Alina.

I think that may be including fast food as well. If you buy your lunch everyday for work that could easily be 10 bucks a meal. So that is 200 dollars a month right there. Throw in a one nice dinner a week for 2 people and it can easily get up to 500 a month total.

We use straight talk and lowered down our monthly plan to less high speed date for $10 cheaper per month x2 which works most months, but is killer once the high speed data leaves

Extra trips yes but it’s fine. Where I used to live the hippie health store was in the same shopping center as aldi so it was awesome. Oh and there was also dollar tree. They have frozen fruit Andy veg which is usually cheaper than aldi. It’s less ounces but still works out to be cheaper. I wish there were recommendations for other Aldi-like stores. I live in CA and grocery stores here are VERY expensive. Suggestions appreciated.

Low cost cell phone plans = multiple dropped calls and missing text you never get. This is stated by experience.

All carriers in all areas are not equal. You have to do the switching to the carrier with the most coverage and then switch to the discount carrier that uses the network you need.

so for the shopping second hand a REALLLY good tip i learned is WHERE you shop. for example, i live in nyc, so i would go to Goodwill in midtown, or the upper east side/upper west side because the people in these areas usually have more expensive items so these Goodwills/thift shops always have higher end items for much less.
another one about subscriptions/memberships is PAY DOWN YOUR CREDIT CARDS ASAP or try to make payments in full. because lets say you owe 3000$ on a credit card, and you pay 80$ min payment, they will charge lets say 38$-50$ for interest...so that is literally wasting money and the same thing as you paying a subscription service..smh its crazy
ALSOOO walmart, trader joes are the cheapest on the east coast. i live in nyc and aldi is decent, but it doesnt really compare because of the no name brands. at trader joes, their brand is unbeatable, quality wise and price wise, plus the prices are the same throughout the US

I have 4 grocers basically across the street from each other. Walmart (not a supercenter), Safeway, Giant and Harris Teeter. I keep the prices down by shopping all 4 stores. It takes about 15mins each and I’m done and home in about one hour. I use the Flipp app on my cell to compare prices and then with list in hand I shop. The only change on list would be markdown meats. No markdown fruit/veggies/breads as that all goes to food pantry & shelters. I use store loyalty cards and coupons, some paper coupons, rebates and Receipt pictures. I have a Menu Plan and Meal Plan. I use a price book to stock up on lowest prices. I follow blogs for coupon/sale/rebates to cut down on my work and thinking. I’ve been doing this long enough it organized, efficient and fast. I shop my pantry mostly since I keep a 3-12mo pantry for the main recipes I make. I just replace what I use when my rock bottom price happens and rotate stock.

Ditto on the second hand locations (like Goodwill) - going to the ones in the nice part of town means that the people donating are ones who can afford nicer things, and often donate them before they're really bad. However, for consignment goods, I'd go to not as nice areas because 1. the store's overhead is higher, so the prices will be more, 2. though you may get a great deal on the brands, some of the brands may be too high end, or the place is too picky.

If a family member is in the military, T-Mobile has a Great plan. We have 5 lines (the first line is the most expensive, the second line goes down in price, the third to sixth lines are the same price). When divided by our 5 family members, the cost per each line is $24 which includes unlimited talk, text, and DATA.
