- Raga Tilak Kalyan. Sri Ranadhir Roy (1943-1989), along with his Guru Sri Ashesh Bandopadhyay of Bishnupur music school, were two of the top exponents of the barely recorded Esraj (related to Dilruba) instrument.

Thank you so much Pokri Poki ji. This raaga was composed by this maestro himself. He also composed some unique raagas like Sindhu Gandhar, Manj Yaman , Madhu Palash. Pranam to my guru's guru Pandit Ranadhir Roy.

Esraj is now a days becoming obsolete in the arena of popular classical musical instruments. All must try to revive this instrument which is no less qualified than popular instruments like sitar, sarod etc.

Beautiful. The main artiste and Tabla both are good.
As per my knowledge Esraj is an Instrument which is something between the Sarangi and Violin and Chelsea.
One Mr. Aalauddin Khan and one more artiste from Delhi are very famous for playing ESRAAJ.
Mostly this instrument is used as an accompaniment.
This is not the traditional Esraj which is used for accompaniment. As can be seen in the photo provided, it is a bigger and modified version of the instrument. This has more number of frets, more number of taraf strings, a much bigger amplifier, a resonator on the top, Jawari strings and a full three octave range. This bigger instrument was developed and established as a solo instrument by the maestro Ranadhir Roy himself.
