7:39 oh nah bro, after cleaning the snow here for the last 10 years you get sick of it, imagine having to clean the snow in the morning then again in the night, repeat that a few times youll be sick of the snow here
Excellent video, thank you. I have a class 3 and I really enjoy the throttle, especially to get me safely through intersections, etc. The way I understand it, the throttle is spooky to the law because of how fast we can get to twenty mph, as opposed to pedal assist. but that is my favorite feature! Do you think they will restrict us here in Oregon?
I pedal on my E-bike. Level 1 power (the lowest). Typically 20 mph. About 10 miles a day. I have gotten up to 42 MPH, pedaling like mad, full throttle. Still at level 1. I use the throttle sparingly. I live in Florida. Very few E-bike riders. California and New York pass E-bike law after law.
I'm an avid road bike cyclists and I know for a fact that there are some riders that can pedal and hit 30+MPH for short spurts. If you are an elite semi-pro or pro rider you maybe able to sustain 30MPH for quite some time so I don't see pedaling as a distraction or something that maybe dangerous. The biggest issue that I see with e-bikers AND regular cyclists are that a lot of them DO NOT obey traffic laws. A red light or Stop signs means you stop and not just blow through them. When making a right turn on a red light many don't even slow down and blow by them. Many younger riders who don't even have a driver's license don't even have any clue about traffic laws and they are riding on the streets amongst cars and that is the biggest issue.
Most police are uneducated on the laws on ebikes, escooters, etc., and also most people on regular vehicles are uneducated on how to share the road with ebikes, escooters, even regular bikes and motorcycles… in fact, most people on ebikes, escooters, even regular bikes and motorcycles also don’t know the laws…. Even the people making the laws don’t know what laws they are passing….. 🤷🏽♂ I’ll even say that most people in our government, congress, etc are uneducated……. Did you see who we got for president? For a second time? 🤦🏽 I rest my case…..
I don't think the existence of a throttle should matter one way or another. For a lot of people, (bad leg, bad foot), then a throttle is a huge game changer for those to get started. This opens up the doors for boatloads of people to get out and ride their ebike. I mean, ghost peddling after 20 mph to get to 28 does not make a whole lot of sense either. To be fair, a 28mph top speed and 750 watts is quite a generous setup, and at those speeds you can really get around town. And I agree with the distraction of having to pedal - it really does not help anything in terms of safety or anything else. If anything it probably is somewhat of a distraction. I'm 100% fine with limiting the speed of bikes to 28mph. However, some "idea" that a throttle is a bad thing? For many, it is VERY difficult to start pedaling on a hill or even from a stop. A throttle is simply a basic requirement for many people, and it is the difference between being able to go out and ride around town. The issue is far too many bikes are being sold that break the 28 mph limit, and that potentially can ruin this party for everyone. A few years ago, near all vendors were adhering to the max speed, but now they much don't care, and it has turned into a free for all, and this in the future could ruin this party for everyone. Throttle should not matter, but in most cases, to get 28mph, then that supposed to be a class 3, and that means after 20mph, you have to pedal....... Part of this issue is why many cities have become VERY pro bicycles, they are now facing increased pressures from car + insurance companies, and increased pressure from parking vendors, and ESPECIALLY taxi companies. So, some cities see bikes as some loss of tax revenues as they compete against their bus systems, and against the taxi system. In fact, on some evenings, downtown, you see boatloads of people zipping around on scooters going out to eat and bar hop (the rental ones). So much so, that Uber figured out that one of the main competitors to rides was electric scooters! I mean, why purchase a taxi ride when I can jump on a rental scooter for less money then a taxi ride? Uber figured this one out!!! ---- So, they purchased Lime scooters to get their hands on this transportation revenue stream. At the end of the day, this will come down to powerful lobby groups - mostly the insurance companies that have boatloads of money, and boatloads to lose by people adopting e-bikes. In fact it reasonable to guess/think that the throttle limit was proposed by insurance companies, since auto makers, public transit, and insurance and taxi companies all stand to lose from people adopting ebikes. Once more cities and gov officials figure out the above, then we will see more and more unfavorable laws towards ebikes.
I’m considering getting the Graffiti X but I don’t like putting out over $4500 and having to wait 5-6 months to get the bike while the Lyric company uses my money and other customers money to fund their business. If Lyric could take an order and deliver the bike within 4-6 weeks than that’s acceptable. I don’t like when companies don’t stock their e-bikes. That’s my opinion. Sparks Brute is a top contender. Thanks for your video .
Personally I think only being limited to 28 is stupid also, as long as you're riding at or under the actual speed limit of the road you're on it shouldn't matter
@@stuwest3653 LOL you know what I mean ... my Philodo H8 can do 35 mph so if I'm in the bike lane of a road that's 35 mph speed limit or higher I should be able to ride it there legally and not limit myself to only 28 mph
@oregonebikermark8953 he lost popularity when he became Muslim. But he was later excepted again. It was not popular back then because of the Iranian revolution and the Islamic mid east scene
I noticed the user donl3130 mentioned being in Canada (I also live in Canada) and not being allowed to go 28mph by pedal or throttle. However, I have a 28-29.4mph e-bike with 300+miles on it so far, and I'm yet to be stopped by cops. Just be rational and don't do 28mph on sidewalks or bike paths and they aren't stopping to bother you (at least in my own experience). Mind you, I rarely ride on sidewalks, because that is just ridiculous to do going 15++mph anyway (unless I have to do a quick maneuver to avoid idiotic drivers).
If I am a fan of moped E-moto style bikes, which I am not, I would go with a much cheaper bike that goes about 35 to 45 mph and has a cheaper price tag but still full suspension. Then I would get a Honda Trail ABS 125cc for general road use and a price similar to a Graffiti X And the Sprks Brute.
Over here (Canada) we're not allowed to get 28 mph, by pedalling or throttle. 20 mph is the limit. Wish we could go faster (legally). Maybe when you use muscular power you can slow down more easily, are not as dangerous as if you just have to push a button to keep going. Perhaps that's how they got there... But personally I think we can do it, with training... I've ridden stand up scooters at 28 mph, and it's not as safe, center of gravity a little bit high... But it can be done.
No, It hasn't happened in my town tht I'm aware of. They don't even stop u for not wearing a helmet or.using simple hand signals. I'm assuming that if biker has some kinda of common sense, then they won't really enforce it. I love yr bike, so jelly. Just can't afford it. Happy riding. 😊
If your bike is so great why not tell us what it is? You list a ton of bikes on your description. This is the first ebike video that I have seen and I know nothing about them except that the the old men (like me) that drive them on my road past my property hog the road as if they own the road. They act entitled. This is not a good look and all of my neighbors want them off the road. I would rather not irritate my neighbors with an E bike. I drive my 1946 Cushman motor scooter around and I honor other drivers. I have been contemplating on getting another Cushman and converting it to electric. I am off grid using solar and could charge it for nothing. I live in N. CA.
If you ever gets a chance to ride an E cells five star and never wanna go back to another bike. I do totally agree with his comments on the ridiculous pedal to 28 miles an hour law. I think they have it that way because it limits people from running along 28 miles an hour because of the difficulty in pet to that speed on the typical e bike.

Yes, I'm Canadian and know all about snow.
Pedaling past 20 mph can actually be dangerous, all that activity is more of a distraction & also wended out of breath.
That was exactly my thought as well.
Why is pedaling past 20 more dangerous

Not sure what will happen to Oregon ebike laws.
We the Poople (upon) had better get a grip on the legislature or they will get a grip on us. In fact they have.
