Autel MAXICOM MK908 Pro level scan tool.

- This is the scan tool our shop purchased to replace the Snap-on Verus Pro last year. Its a fully bi-directional scan tool with some limited programming capabilities. I've found it to be a very competent scan tool for day to day usage and i really love the pid display features.
Updates are available as they are released, and subscriptions run right under $700 for the year. The big advantage being that you can use the tool for many years without a subscription and when you decide to updated it, the cost remains the same.
Overall for the price and features, I really think its a decent scanner.

I'm not tech savvy when it comes to auto technician information, but very informative and a great presentation Erik 👍. Hard to believe how far auto technology has come , and they're finally manufacturing the hand held tools such as this that are very modern and user friendly , like a very expensive video game remote or console . And looks like it had a heavy duty protective case like for an over sized phone for people like me who would constantly lay it on the roof , get in the car and drive off !! Multiple times !!!!
I've seen several thousands of dollars worth of these smashed on the road, so it happens! More often, I leave a tool in the engine compartment and it becomes what is known in the field as "Tool Gods" property. As a mechanic, sometimes these "Tool Gods" will gift you with a new tool when you open the engine bay of a customers car, and that's a good day. Other days your loose a tool to the tool gods when you realize you've left a tool in a now long gone car.
Best find? A really nice and fairly new magnetic mount flashlight.
Worst loss? A very expensive 110 tooth Snap-on 1/4 inch ratchet and 10mm deep socket. That was tough.

I AM LOOKING AT A AUTEL 906 WILL IT REWRITE A VIN ON A PCM MODULE REPLACEMENT FOR EXAMPLE A 2007 HONDA ACCORD. I KNOW IT WILL SYNC UP A USED MODULE TO THE CAR AND ALLOW KEYS TO BE PROGRAMMED BUT CAN IT COMPLETE THE JOB WITH AN UPDATE TO THE VIN. IT WOULD HELP IT NOT BE FLAGGED IN N EMMISSION TEST. I remember catalitic converters begining to be on cars a couple of years after I got drivers license and thinking " why are they adding this to cars?" This won't end well. And look where it's gone. Now computers, sensors and so much stuff you have to be a rocket scientist with a mad scientist laboratory if you want to do simple work on your car. Whats next? Will we have to purchase a code from the manufacture to unlock the brake system so we can change our brake pads ourselves? You are correct. Today's cars are ultra complex with some of them having over 100 individual computers linked in an internal network. Mechanics are no longer the grease monkeys of the 70's and 80's we have evolved into network techs, wrench turners, and diagnosticians. These computers are now required to do some of the simplest jobs, including brake work and battery replacement.
While the wheels of progress can never be stopped, I can tell you that we reached peak automotive tech in 1977 with the Bosch CIS mechanical fuel injection system. It was simple efficient and worked well in all climates. Around the same time we also started to use electronic "Points" and that system also reached it's peak. Everything since then has been garbage and a waste of time.

Hey Eric, does the mk 908 have doip, access to the newer gm vehicles protocols and Fca auto auth, for Chrysler / fiat? Sure the Mk908 is nice but doesn't compare to my Ms 906 pro. The 906 pro has more memory and a eight core processor as well. What do you think about what I said?
Not sure. I can say that after all these years the older MK908 is showing it's age a bit. It's Android 4 I think and scans now take a lot longer. Still a great tool though!
Do you know if this device can do a pin code scan? I tried to do a key fob program but it was asking for a vehicle pin code.

No its not, thats with the Jbox. This one is not with a Jbox so its 1800.

God, another endless blather that doesn't answer the only question 90% of us are here for: Does it allow me to change my rear brake pads and other DIY maintenance.
Are you kidding? Of course this tool does all that. Literally every tool sold at any price other than a basic code reader does e-brake mode, and oil resets. This one does all that and about 100 other far deeper functions.
