First of all, thank you so much for reacting to the legendary Iron Maiden. Like many of the other comments, now you’ve heard Bruce sing in his later years it would be brilliant if you could compare this performance to his famous one in 1982 at Hammersmith in London. He has greatly changed his singing style over the years to prolong his voice but, as a young man, his live vocals were unbelievable. If you think he likes to hold onto long notes in this performance, you’ll love what he did back in ‘82! Thanks again and loved the reaction.
Katrina, Bruce has been belting out the vocals like this for his first band Sampson since around 1975. I didn't hear how long you have been doing your singing & being a vocal coach? Bet you loved Maiden also.

This song was the last song of the set I'm pretty sure, at least the last one before the encore so they were indeed exhausted. Their energy is a huge reason they are my favorite band. And Iron Maiden has Ed Force One. a 757 on this tour and a 747 on another tour. And both flown by their lead singer Captain Bruce Dickinson. Bruce was (until his mandatory retirement at 65) a full blown commercial pilot. Initially for Astraeus Airlines until they went belly up in 2011, then chaired Cardiff Aviation (now known as Caerdav) specializing in pilot training and MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul).
Katrina, I would love to see a video of your reaction to the metal legend King Diamond. His band is a bit theatrical such as Rob Zombie, or Alice Cooper. I think you will love his vocals. He started back in the 80’s. Battled throat cancer, and came back years after and belts away again as if nothing happened. Sleepless nights live at the Fillmore is a prefect song. Please, please, please do one for this artist. ***Warning*** His material is pretty “dark.”
Allez je vais me réécouter Powerslave ! Yeahhhh
One song that is a must to react to is Painkiller by Judas Priest, killer guitar riffs, pounding drums, and of course the Metal God Rob Halford. I guarantee you will NOT be dissapointed.
Happy New Year Katrinka , hope you have a great year. One of the best story tellers around with a huge catalogue to go through, check out his solo albums.
Saw them last night at the Download festival in the UK best band ever as usual, actually voted by Planet Rock as the best Heavy Metal band of ALL TIMES!!!
I never noticed that, either! It's like one of those 'bad habits' the masters can get away with. I'm a bass and guitar player, and was always taught not to let my pinky 'fly away' from the fretboard when playing, but tons of great guitar players (like Maiden's own Dave Murray) do just that and still play amazingly well.
His moving of the jaw may be the result of no formal training in the early years. He was singing in a way he thought that all singers sing (remember - no videos from shows etc. in 70s when he started) and that may be the result for that. 20 years later he took some lessons (not from the teacher, more like extensive reading on the subject) but probably this become habit for him.
@@Katriinka when this was recorded bruce had the beginnings of tongue cancer coming in, so the mouth vibrato may have been a way to compensate for his loss of his more natural vibrato because if you look at their earlier videos he doesnt have the mouth shake. so i really think this is more of a compensation instead of bad habit.
If you haven’t read the lyrics to this one you must,, what a story.. to experience them live is imaging, you can feel it in the air before you even enter the venue..
Thank you Katriinka, I grew up listening to these guys and saw them live twice when they came to Australia. The energy was incredible. FYI, the first part of footage in the plane, is Bruce Dickinson flying the plane. He always flew the band everywhere all over the world.
Iron Maiden, amazing and awesome group. He has a great voice still, a fantastic talent. Glad you are reacting to Maiden, Metallica, my original favorites. Yes Bruce is like Floor, Simone, or Damian Wilson (and many others) an amazing story teller. Love the reaction and looking forward to more Maiden. And Happy New Year to you also.
Bruce Dickenson is considered by many as one of the greatest vocalists in rock/metal. Keep in mind, he was born in 1958...so during this concert he was 49/50 years old...and he still has that energy! You should react to more of their music...some suggestions; Run to the Hills Fear of the Dark Aces High Wasted Years and one of my favorites... Rime of the Ancient Mariner (very long but I love it)
Absolutely love the reaction video to my heroes. I didn't think I could enjoy the video any more then you referenced DB and I almost shit. UP THE IRONS!!!!!
If you liked this, you should react to that song from 1982 performance, where Bruce is young and at his top. Here is 50 years old and he's still killing it.
Hello Kat loved the reaction This is the 3rd Encore in a 2 hour set I believe Bruce here is much older here his 1982 performance is out of this world would love to see a reaction to that
It's was the last show of an insane tour that they did. Also the pilot at the beginning is the singer and he flew them all over the world. Still does too.
I saw them last month in Leeds... 15 years after this Toronto gig, they are as energetic and virtuoso as ever... simply the best rock concert I've ever been to including U2, The Police, The Rolling Stones and Metallica. Bruce is still there.
As everyone has pointed out Bruce is also the pilot that takes them all over the world and then performs us fans. Steve Harris (bassist and founder of the band) said in this documentary from where the video is taken from, Bruce must have some energy elixir to do all of this. He could give me some of that hihi. They have done so many concerts, are in their +70, still kicking ass. From generation to generation. Greetings from Sweden
Thank you very much for this reaction video. I loved it a lot. I learned a lot about singers's technics and especially Bruce Dickinson's singer technic. Thank you so far!
A lot of folks will (have) talked about the 1982 performance, it is amazing, and it is 26 years before this show, that is longevity. So let's take a moment, the band members at this gig in 2008 are in there 50's (Bruce is 50 here I think), it's the end of a 2 hour high intensity metal show and every one of them is delivering at 120%, literally driving the crowd into an exhausted frenzy, many in that crowd half there age. These guys are a international treasure, a generational band, simply amazing.
Iron Maiden stamina is legendary. I am more of a modern metal head that enjoys and respects the OGs like Maiden. I have seen lots of metal bands young and old perform. Very FEW can match the energy and presence these guys give off stage. What makes it more impressive is their age, they put a lot of bands half their age to shame when it comes to live performances.
When you look at this kind of performance, you can easily see why none of the band are overweight. Something that seems to carry over into most really good rock and metal groups who are truly passionate about their music.
If you want to watch more of them I highly recommend their rock In rio performance. Bruce is an amazing singer still to this day and has an amazing philosophy when it comes to singing and keeping his voice intact even in his 60s
You should check out the “Studio performance “... It’s from 1982 this performance was from 2009... and Bruce the singer is not only just the singer HE PILOTS THE JET ... anyway the studio track vocally is AMAZING, long held notes, great range, and the tempo is kept under control, so he’s not rushing to fit all the lyrics in, this live version not bad as far as rushing due to it being a live performance, but huge difference between “studio” version from 1982 and “live” version from 2009....
To think that Bruce D. Is 50 years old when they recorded this live version and over 2 hours into a show 🤯. Great review have been to Maiden concerts from 1983-2006 was the last show I was at
Hello Katriinka! If you want to hear a band that Iron Maiden has heavily influenced, I highly recommend a singer named Brittney Slayes, who is the lead singer of a Canadian power metal band called Unleash the Archers! I would recommend: 1) Awakening 2) Tonight We Ride 3) Time Stands Still 4) Abyss 5) Test Your Metal Relatedly, Brittney Slayes could be called the "Female Bruce Dickinson." That's how good she is! 🤘🤘🏹🏹🏹
This is why He is called Bruce Almighty. Truly a legend. Although He is only my second favorite Metal singer of all time. This was not the best version He has done of this He said in interviews He was having issues with innear monitors. Rob Halford will always be the number one Metal vocalist that everyone after Him was inspired by. The number 3 spot easily goes to Todd La Torre of Queensryche. Then Tim Ripper Owens of Iced Earth. Then Gord Sheffroth of Aftershok. These 5 have been the ones who inspired me and shaped my vocals over the decades. Hopefully they will continue to do so in the future for many others.
Good Video, Katriinka! Iron Maiden is one of the few old bands that still plays the songs in the original key, and not dropping it down. That also can tell you, on one part, how awesome Bruce Dickinson is!
They get their energy from the crowd feedback. I've played in bands since the mid 90s and I can tell you from experience, when you have a highly energetic crowd your adrenaline gets pumping and your energy skyrockets. That's why many times live songs, especially with rock bands, are generally being played faster than the studio recording of the same song.
#IronMaidenIsMyReligion Best Band ever!!! #UpTheIrons, wherever you are!!! 🤘😎🤘you need to listen “ ToTame a Land” and “ Where Eagles Dare”!!! Congratulations from Brasil!!!

@@hankthefarmer4433 UP THE IRONS!!!!
Yeahhhh
Excellent analysis love you ❤I'm subscribed from today✌
One song that is a must to react to is Painkiller by Judas Priest, killer guitar riffs, pounding drums, and of course the Metal God Rob Halford. I guarantee you will NOT be dissapointed.
That's some quite heavy song.
I would suggest instead songs like Victim of Changes, Dreamer Deceiver or Run of the Mill
Happy New Year Katrinka , hope you have a great year. One of the best story tellers around with a huge catalogue to go through, check out his solo albums.
Welcome to my Metal world for just 40 years - I´m 53 years old and i love this music
"... life down here is just a strange illusion"
Always different, always beautiful.
Saw them last night at the Download festival in the UK best band ever as usual, actually voted by Planet Rock as the best Heavy Metal band of ALL TIMES!!!
Loved the reaction! First time I see someone comenting on how he moves the jaw when he does vibrato, very interesting :)
thank you :)
@@KyleS.1987 It is always a "correct way" to do a thing, and than it's "your own way". If you are comfortable and the result is good, who cares?
His moving of the jaw may be the result of no formal training in the early years. He was singing in a way he thought that all singers sing (remember - no videos from shows etc. in 70s when he started) and that may be the result for that. 20 years later he took some lessons (not from the teacher, more like extensive reading on the subject) but probably this become habit for him.
as I said, if it doesnt cause any further problems it is okay, this has to be years old habit so it would be terrible to unlearn haha :)
There are many videos of him from 1980/90's hitting much higher sustained notes with no jaw shake at all
@@Katriinka There are many videos of him from 1980/90's hitting much higher sustained notes with no jaw shake at all
@@Katriinka when this was recorded bruce had the beginnings of tongue cancer coming in, so the mouth vibrato may have been a way to compensate for his loss of his more natural vibrato because if you look at their earlier videos he doesnt have the mouth shake. so i really think this is more of a compensation instead of bad habit.
You should see the live version of this song from when they were younger.
I love that you did this, I love this song and you of course gave a great review!
If you haven’t read the lyrics to this one you must,, what a story.. to experience them live is imaging, you can feel it in the air before you even enter the venue..
Beautiful reaction Gorgeous Katriinka
Thank you Katriinka, I grew up listening to these guys and saw them live twice when they came to Australia. The energy was incredible. FYI, the first part of footage in the plane, is Bruce Dickinson flying the plane. He always flew the band everywhere all over the world.
No, it's the last song. It was also the last show of a crazy tour. The vocalist was also the pilot of the plane!
HAPPY NEW Year to you too, pretty lady. Wish you all the best for the upcoming year (can only get better) *hugs*
I love that you guys have respect for the metall genre. Thanks, and a heart for you
All the best for 21 Triinka and keep up the good work mate!
Bruce Dickenson is considered by many as one of the greatest vocalists in rock/metal.
Keep in mind, he was born in 1958...so during this concert he was 49/50 years old...and he still has that energy!
You should react to more of their music...some suggestions;
Run to the Hills
Fear of the Dark
Aces High
Wasted Years
and one of my favorites...
Hello Kat loved the reaction
This is the 3rd Encore in a 2 hour set I believe
Bruce here is much older here his 1982 performance is out of this world would love to see a reaction to that
I would love to make some comparisons in future! :)
@@Katriinka that would Very cool
Listen to this from the 1980's before his throat cancer. He carries it all the way through.
It's was the last show of an insane tour that they did. Also the pilot at the beginning is the singer and he flew them all over the world. Still does too.
iron maiden are legends still going after 45 years
I saw them last month in Leeds... 15 years after this Toronto gig, they are as energetic and virtuoso as ever... simply the best rock concert I've ever been to including U2, The Police, The Rolling Stones and Metallica. Bruce is still there.
I hope you do Ronnie James Dio soon. His live performances in the 80's are excellent
I had the good fortune to see the live concert in puerto rico 80.0.000 of us maiden eds bouncing about to the best vocal front man around
Thank you very much for this reaction video. I loved it a lot.
I learned a lot about singers's technics and especially Bruce Dickinson's singer technic.
Thank you so far!
Better to be occasionally overwhelmed than chronically underwhelmed :) Great job lady.
thank you so so much :)
You ask where they take their energy from .
Answer : 100k crazed fans.
Every single member is a living legend. Maiden are untouchable.
"We need to start the year with a bang!" literally posted the same day as the DC riots. That is next level premonition!
Besides the amazing musical talents, it is great to see them on stage, obviously they Love every second!
More Iron Maiden live videos please!!
This is a performance from a band 40+ yrs in the game!!
I grew up with Iron Maiden one of my top 10 bands.
they are amazing role models as well :)
@@Katriinka Absolutely!!!!
( Top 3 ) here...
Had a live after death backpatch on my denim back in high school 30+yrs ago
Top 1
Oh, the Super Sayan comment...😆.
I've not had the pleasure of seeing Iron Maiden live, but man... What a performance.
I don't know how he can stay in that high range for so long incredible
Hello Katriinka 🌟🎄 Merry Christmas 🎄🎄🎄❤️❤️❤️
When you look at this kind of performance, you can easily see why none of the band are overweight.
Something that seems to carry over into most really good rock and metal groups who are truly passionate about their music.
Iron Maiden - The Talisman Live from En Vivo. One of Bruce's best vocal performances in my personal opinion
If you want to watch more of them I highly recommend their rock In rio performance. Bruce is an amazing singer still to this day and has an amazing philosophy when it comes to singing and keeping his voice intact even in his 60s
Could your eyes be more fantastically amazingly gorgeous. Just wow and more wow. Hugs!
You should check out the “Studio performance “... It’s from 1982 this performance was from 2009... and Bruce the singer is not only just the singer HE PILOTS THE JET ... anyway the studio track vocally is AMAZING, long held notes, great range, and the tempo is kept under control, so he’s not rushing to fit all the lyrics in, this live version not bad as far as rushing due to it being a live performance, but huge difference between “studio” version from 1982 and “live” version from 2009....
..never quits....no..no he doesn't....over 60 years old, beat throat cancer, and is STILL The Human Air-Raid Siren! Up the Irons!
To think that Bruce D. Is 50 years old when they recorded this live version and over 2 hours into a show 🤯. Great review have been to Maiden concerts from 1983-2006 was the last show I was at
The singer of the band flew the jet all around the world !
Hello Katriinka!
If you want to hear a band that Iron Maiden has heavily influenced, I highly recommend a singer named Brittney Slayes, who is the lead singer of a Canadian power metal band called Unleash the Archers! I would recommend:
1) Awakening
2) Tonight We Ride
3) Time Stands Still
4) Abyss
5) Test Your Metal
Relatedly, Brittney Slayes could be called the "Female Bruce Dickinson." That's how good she is!
Hopefully they will continue to do so in the future for many others.
you should check out their performance of this song from the 80s. When Bruce was in his younger days. When he was called the Air Raid Siren.
#IronMaidenIsMyReligion
Best Band ever!!!
#UpTheIrons, wherever you are!!!
🤘😎🤘you need to listen “ ToTame a Land” and “ Where Eagles Dare”!!!
Congratulations from Brasil!!!
He's fixed to the ground with a wide stance taking all energy into him.
Pleaseee react to Julie Anne San Jose a great artist. She can belt, sings any genre, she writes her own song, she can rap, play musical instruments (piano, guitar, drum and currently shes learning to play violin) she is good in harmonizing and everything. She is versatile, and a music genius. You can react to her songs:
Adagio
You song
Nothing left
Regrets
All by myself
I'll never love again
I Believe
Never enough
So on...
Hope you grant my request, Im looking forward to you reacting to Julie Anne San Jose.
