A enduro tour operator in Romania I ride with has 2018 300 tpi’s. He’s had no real issues n got 250 hours on he’s personal bike n only just changed piston
Can you speak to the difference in power valve power delivery on the 17/18 vs the 19 300 xc? I know they updated the power valve between the two generations and curious if this is noticeable
@Rick Carley I agree and I've heard that after you ride a tpi that you would change your mind?! I'm not so sure about that with myself anyhow? I mean a nearly $10k bike but to make it run as well as a carb bike you still have to spend $700+ for a different ECU & I prefer a simple self contained smart carb 2 and although I have a Keihin 36mm. carb on my 2011 ktm 300 XC I've ridden a 2014 and a 2015 with the smart carb 2 and they both ran very, very well! KTM brought the TPI out due to Euro emission standard's but they never said that their TPI bikes run better? I'm a carbureted 2- stroke fan for life and at 50 years old I'm quite content!
My all time favorite dirt bike. I have a 2011 KTM-300xc and still love it! My 2011 was the last year that the XC had the rear PDS shock so I'm going to keep it as long as possible. I now weigh 205Ibs. without gear so I'll have to get stiffer spring's but not a big deal. To be honest I never rode a TPI bike but I know KTM brought the TPI bikes out due to Euro 4 or 5 emissions which sucks! I'm going to put a Technology Elevated Smart Carb 2 on my Katoom 300xc next along with stiffer spring's.
Nice bike ,I have a few of these TX / EXC ,the TX came with a Mikuni which I wasn’t a fan of ,the JD jetting kit as you say is the best way to go which improved the Mikuni , I then fitted an aftermarket head from two stroke performance here in OZ which made a big difference ,the keihen I fitted later on this bike is still better in my opinion but if I was on a strict budget a JD jetting kit in the Mikuni and probably any aftermarket head lol fixes up 90 % of the complaints laid at the Mikuni ,TPI is the future but these carbed 300 s deserve all the praise they get ,cheersd
dnrg62 I am still running the Mikuni on my 17 300XC, Vforce4, JD jet kit and JD jet block gasket is a must. Most people forget or don’t know to change the jet block gasket. My bike runes phenomenal. Everyone who rides it says the same. I’m sure every bike is different. I just wanted to mention the not very much talked about jet block gasket upgrade. I bet many people have trashed the stock carb just because of this. I love this channel 👍
J S , lol forgot about the jet block gasket , lot of people bashed the Mikuni , once I changed the head I realised KTM was the real culprit lol ,I have used Keihen for 40 years , hard to teach an old dog new tricks , but Mikuni is a good carburettor, cheersd
I have a 2020 TEi Husky 300. I get a new bike every year and have had them all (350/ 450/ 300's with carb). The 2020 TPi's are phenomenal and need NOTHING. They run strong.
Injection is the norm for 4-stroke bikes but it's most definitely not perfected with the 2-strokes yet! Although if you can afford a new bike every year I guess it doesn't matter all that much.
Asking what you would do?? Have the chance to pick up a clean 2019 300 XC with 87 hrs or put my name on the list for a 2022 300 XC and hope to see it June or July, you think the TPI is far enough along to trust it or would you wait another year or two, money not a deciding factor just want a reliable bike
I have a 2019 300xc @145hrs with Lectron carb, s3 head, vforce reeds, 300sx cdi, fmf fatty/2.0 turbinecore. The bike pulls hard and have not thought about selling it once. Typically based on hours I would have sold and bought a new bike already. Have rode new TPI in both husky and Ktm, still like my carb better.
So the question is the last review was a ktm366exc and u called it an old guys bike, even thou the WESS rider use mostly 350s for there open events, so obviously u didn't say it. but this would be the other old guys bike because the 300 is the other bike the WESS pros ride??????
I have a 19 mikuni with all of the Jarvis mods. I thought the the bike was running great. I picked up and installed the Lectron H and now the bike is faster and more responsive throughout the entire range
What a gorgeous bike! I regret getting my 2019 xcw tpi nothing but problems. Should have gotten a 2018 Carb.
Strange, friends love their TPI nothing but good

Tpi sucks
Looks amazing I really like the matte graphics. That's probably why it's so fast.
Would love to see you for a stic metering block into the kehin and review it. I have one fitted and it is unbelivable
Beautiful bike Jay! Sounds incredible to me with the Keihen carb and looks like it rips!

Awesome video. And a sweet looking bike!
How's the Fmf titanium silencer holding up ? Great looking can, very exposed though. What benefits over stock or a shorter silencer does it offer ?
Been good-- makes a good smooth power that has some manageable grunt down low for sure.
@@dirtbiketv1 sounds good, it’s a pity they make aluminium version
That's a great looking bike. Your 300's always run so smooth, it makes it difficult to want to switch to TPI.
Ride a TPI and you will change your mind!!

Nice Bike! I got a '19 for a lot of the same reasons - Did you use the SX CDI on this build?
We ran the stock ECU in this one and feels great--
Very nice build
Did you install a hinson clutch or did you just put on the clutch cover?
Clutch plates - spring and cover--
Nice bike build. That looks like a fun place to ride.
Be interesting to see how you can make a TPI run with remapping and new head. TSP kit, or GET ECU with adjusted fuel and ignition mapping.

I second that statement, Desert Dog! I'm loving it!

Email me if specifics. But the carb bike is better.

The old Dude reference is mainly because its a EXC and street legal with lots of good bit added on to make it $$
Why did you cut the head down? I've never done that on my 300's so I'm curious.
More compression -- gives a bit more umph
I can guess you won't and why, but I'd love to see you build a Beta.
Good info!
What wrong with the mikuni carb? Mine runs prefect
I have a 19 mikuni with all of the Jarvis mods. I thought the the bike was running great. I picked up and installed the Lectron H and now the bike is faster and more responsive throughout the entire range
So what do you do to get a light on the 2020 XC then? Hard wire it with a stater swap. (Besides rewiring the whole bike)
Have to run the XCW full wire harness.
@@dirtbiketv1 thanks
Is this Ca.?
Yes
what throttle cam do u guys run on your ktm 300 the black or the gray?
Stock- on the 300s I was not sure there was different ones-- I have to check next time in there--
The 2020xc rear fender support and lic. plate holder fit the 2019xc?
you need a 2020 XCW fender and support and tail light to make it all happy- if get further into it just email me any questions
@@dirtbiketv1 Thanks for the reply! Appreciated. I assume the wiring is in that area somewhere. I haven't looked yet.
Rad bike!
36 or 38 mm carb?
38
KTM leaned out the TPI bikes for emissions, they run much better with a reflash of the ECU (TSP), Coober ECU, or GET ECU.
Switching from the Mikuni to Kehin is really an easy swap. 20-30 minutes.
It has a carb? Oh so it's automatically better than TPI!
This guys sounds like he’s always out of breath, lay off them cheeseburgers pal
I can do 40 minute Motos but talking while riding is very hard-- try it
