When ever your fighting guards if they are just guards with batons just fight until your unconscious but when an armed guard pulls out the shotgun get out of there or surrender sometimes it knocks you unconscious but it is unlikely or that might just be my luck

Could you not dig out from one of the bottom cell if they are free. It would just be maybe 5 spaces.
