i remember the days of being younger.... and like Richard wills said. life was far better then .but we didn't know it. time and memories will always be remembered. the hot water bottle. not so many cars on the road.nice big gardens on the council estate.playing all day and all night.and my mum shouting for me to come in.= bath time school tomorrow. playing over the fields.scrumping. knock and bolt.and we could leave our doors unlocked................. i remember too.iam getting sentimental as i get older..... thumbs up ;0)
exceptional imagery and music....a true work of art....good to see old Harry Ridgeway near the end with his racing pigeons....we did things different then....
Excellent well done ,life was so different back then and we knew all our neighbours ,in this video alone I recognized so many people ,now sadly passed on ,the video is so pleasant it does pay them tribute ,I shall look forward to more , thank you Jason .
I was born and bred in Aylesbury. I was a teenager through the 70's but these photo's are totally alien to me. Just a very occasional thing I recognise - like that town square! I haven't lived there now for 30 years and would never go back ( I still have relatives there). It's so big now. Pretty much the pits.
I remember the monstrosity that was the old Friars Square being built. It looked like something from dystopian science fiction film - a concrete nightmare. Thank goodness it's gone. I also remember visiting the cattle market with my cousin every Saturday - when Aylesbury really was a market town :-)
Lovely video of much happier times. I've lived in Aylesbury since 2006. We have evidently lost so much. But you only miss things once they are gone. As with many towns, we now are a segregated community with conflicting aspirations. I don't believe we will ever again have a strong sense of community.
Thank you for posting this. I grew up in Aylesbury in the 70's When I look at the teenagers in the pictures they must be like me now. Old! Thank you again. All the best from sunny Thailand were it's raining at the moment.
What a gorgeous collection of pictures!! I grew up in a village very close to Aylesbury in the 1970's... now living in bootiful Norwich! 😉 I generally love old photos and collect as many interesting originals I can get my hands on... but these are special, brought so many memories back of that time. Love that later version of Joni Mitchel's song too... such an excellent choice of music. Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Subscribed... I think I'm going to enjoy your channel! 😎
@24:30 I'm sure that's Derek Grey on the left holding the cup. I remember him being a very good schoolboy boxer when he was at the Grange School in the early sixties.
Thank you so much for this Jason. We had a lovely time watching these pictures. They brought back so many great memories. And we recognised more than a few faces! thanks again. Where did you get the pictures?
Born in Aylesbury 1976, a lot of my family still live there, I was trying to see if my Nan Marjorie Hart RIP was in any of them 😢 or any of my Abrahams cousins were there, anyway an absolutely amazing video, thank you 🥹
Fred & Tony Rance ran Crombeys Menswear in the late 1970's next to a pub, a proper rough house, but that aside, they were nice blokes. It was a good shop but for some of the clientele, you wouldn't believe the late 70's, Rough. Me? Long story short. There isn't one. Except, I am on here, on the BBC. DJ.

I moved away because I got sick of the way it was heading. My mates daughter was caught up in a grooming gang at 13 on hooked on heroin. Too many of my neighbours thought it was ok to throw household rubbish in the street. The mp said there was nothing could be done about it because "Where they come from that's how they live"

Does anyone have any info on Prestwood or Chesham in the 80s?
We’re a different country now. Escape if you can endure if you must
Thank you.
Looks like there was a lot of fires\ car crashes in Aylesbury back then 🤣😂🤣😂
Not an IPAD or smartphone anywhere.
It’s a bit different now… just lots of noise halal meat shops and lots of trouble
Grew up in Aylesbury in the 70s John Ottway and all.
Pity its become a Suburb of India now.
Dia and Esther's house
No acknowledgement of your sources !!
Sadly ruined by the new comers from P.......n! Like most other nice ruined places.
Aylesbury could not have thrived without those "newcomers from P ....N .
