Voles often appear in children's books in the UK ,the best known book is 'The Wind in the Willows'.Excellent vlog , good early morning laugh ❤.
I had a cat once who had to poop in the middle of the night and decided to do it in my slipper, unfortunately I didn't notice until I put it on. My wife couldn't stop laughing 😂😂
😳
If you live in the UK countryside, you’d certainly know the difference between a mouse and a vole. 😌 Btw, some jimjams, Jodi!❤
Meadow mice is the US term for the field vole, there is also a water vole and a bank vole to be found in the UK. They are related to lemmings and hamsters
Or field mouse
The meadow vole is one of the most common species of mammal in the US and Canada. N.America has it's own native sub-species of water vole as well.
@@Covenantt666 a field mouse and a vole are different rodents
@@francislaverty9262I became unsure after your comment so I checked wiki. From Wiki: "Field mouse may refer to:
in Europe, Asia and North Africa, one of several species of mice in the genus Apodemus
in North America, a small vole such as the meadow vole
Voles are pretty common here in Ireland. You also get a lot of Water Voles which are often mistaken for River Rats.
The field mouse is actually the wood mouse (Apodemus Sylvaticus). The bank vole is Myodes Glareolus, the field vole is Microtus Agrestis and the water vole is Arvicola Amphibious. None of the voles are classed as Apodemi
Pigeon pie was actually very common for certain families. My grandfather talked about them eating it and every other thing about how he grew up. He left school at 11 and worked since he was 14 until he was 70 with an interval to work on a boat. Pigeons were easy to catch for food because of the overpopulation when communicating via carrier pigeon became obsolete.
Nothing gets you out of bed faster than the sound of a puking cat...
Truth
My garden is full of voles. They make holes all over the lawn. But on the positive side, elephants are scared of them, and I never see an elephant in my garden.
😂
We have water voles too, sadly very rare now, back in the day often mistaken for a rat, whilst swimming, persecution through mistaken identity and habitat destruction ( for progress / profit ? have decimated the indigenous population of these beautiful and fascinating rodents. very sad.
To: @lordflashget8780 - Indeed! A major problem has been the unnatural breakage of corridors between suitable habitats.
Water voles are extremely territorial so a viable population needs a sizeable habitat and genetic diversity requires that these habitats are interlinked.
This issue is a 'hidden' but critical component in the preservation of many species
Fantastic stuff, thanks guys!
And have owned a few cats and a dog. This was so much fun to watch!
We have lizard in Australia called a 'drop-tail' lizard. It's a defence mechanism, if the lizard is caught by the it's tail, it drops-off allowing the lizard to escape; later on, it regrows a new tail.
We've always had German Shepherds and cats. Unusually it is I that always bonds with the cats and the missus with the dogs. I've always been a cat person since I was a small child and they also seem to be attracted to me.
I have 3.5 cats.
.5 being a stray cat that comes in for food & lives with us most of winter 😂
One cat I had used to pass off dead things as his own. He brought home a mouse that had a mouse trap attached to it, a bird so flat (and dry) he'd clearly scraped it off the road...😳😆😆
He was also a notorious thief. Toys, socks that type of thing. We had a gallery of stolen goods hung on the gate for owners to claim 😂😂😂😂
Aslan is the lion in The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Yeah. We got that reference. Love those books and movies.
Sorry - I thought I heard you ask who Aslan was! Love your reactions!
I love that, hearing a word for the first time then hearing it again soon after - it's called the Frequency Illusion - it's apparently to do with cognitive bias but it's a strong effect - happens to me a lot too 😄 Voles are gorgeous. They do look a lot like mice! I keep mixing voles up with shrews in my head but shrews have a much longer nose and aren't even rodents (even though they look like mice apart from the nose thing) 😄
We have a barn owl here on the farm. He goes out hunting voles in the field opposite at night. Often see him returning at dawn with one in his claws as a snack for later...
Thanks you two that was very very funny ❤
Can't believe Jody didn't scream 'NOPE' at the 'finish him off line' lol! great video guys i laughed a lot thank you!
i am a cat mom to 4. 3 are mine, 1 was abandoned so i take care of her.
A Vole is a small rodent related to Lemmings and Hamsters.
looooooooooooooooooooooooool
thankyou. Love Sarah Millican
One of my cats brought me half a seagull and tried to pass it off as his hunting skills on display.. Sadly for him i knew it was roadkill as i'd walked past it that morning with the dog lol
We have 3 cats (just lost one this year) and our cat sitter claims to be an Animal person, but every pic she sends feel like a hostage situation with a proof of life picture.
Hilarious, Jodie really seemed to enjoy Sarah's act. Great fun guys.😂
One of my cats brought in a frog. I don't know which one. The frog was hopping around my living room but it was easy to catch under a plastic jug. I scooped it up and put it outside again.
There are water voles, which can be as big as a large rat!
Voles love water, streams, rivers etc. They live in the banks above the water line.
im not sure if you're aware but sarahs husband is gary delaney, who youve reacted to before. 😊
Talking of 'Scorpion lollipops' Try "Johnny Vegas Eats A Scorpion | QI" and / or "QI Compilation | Best Of Creepy Crawlies"
Yes, and then afterwards, Nick is going to have a go on a scorpion lolly to let us all know what it's like...
Sarah isn't afraid of bringing in the audience , we do have a lot of wildlife programmes and voles are quite well known even if they aren't that common in towns where most of us live . I like cats but haven't had one for years , they are welcome in the garden .
I'm definitely an animal lover. My fridge is full of them.
Yes. This is a great comment
@@BoringReviews Thank you. I love your content. Always look forward to your reactions.
Thanks for watching and enjoying it them so much.
A vole is a bit like a mouse with no tail.
Aye and it's obvious it's not a mouse even when you first see one.
Cute as
@@oopsdidItypethatoutloud yes indeedy, they are cute.
When I was in the security industry many moons ago I was called to catch a rat that had found its way into the building.
It turned out to be a vole.
I went to get a container to catch it in and just as I came back it ran towards my mate who tried to block it's way with his foot and accidentally stood on it.
I was nearly in tears.
I've tackled knife wielding maniacs and rugby tackled robbers and there's me blubbing over the demise of a tiny rodent.
Voles have tails, but the length depends on the species, Common vole (Microtus arvalis), Eastern meadow vole (Microtus pennsylvanicus), Western meadow vole (Microtus drummondii) etc, have tails a couple inches. There's even a Long tailed vole (Microtus longicaudus), that has a tail length about the size of your typical House house (Mus musculus). The Water vole (Arvicola amphibius) tail length is about half the length of a Brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) tail, just to name a couple, there are many more vole species all having tails in different lengths. Was you thinking of Lemmings or Hamsters that typically have a tail length of a couple centimeter? Typically Voles are more rounder looking with a blunter face. If it has a short tail you can assume it's a Vole, if it has a long tail don't assume it's a Mouse.
Voleshave much shorter tails than mice and usually smaller eyes and ears. (in the UK0.
Aslan is the lion in the chronicles of narnia.
Nick, we need to have WORDS! 😅 Anything from a rat to a moose I'd go aahh.. can we keep him?! 🤗🥰🤣
We wouldn’t work out my friend. But we can still be acquaintances

The US has voles. Mainly in fields and meadows. They like dark damp places.
In the UK voles are also known as water rats because they make their homes in the banks alongside rivers and other water courses, they are just as at home swimming in water as they are on land. In the children's book 'Wind in the Willows' the character 'Ratty' is supposed to be a vole. They are seen as an animal at the bottom of the food chain. In the UK in recent years their numbers have gone into a serious decline, but there are groups breeding them in captivity to release back into the wild, because they still have an important role in British fauna.
I don't think Voles and Water Rats are the same species... Voles, at least common Voles are tiny things, whereas Water Rats are quite a bit larger.
@@kmcarchive8288 Water rat is a incorrect name for the Water Vole (Arvicola terrestris), this is because of a book, The Wind In The Willows, the character "Ratty" not a Rat, but in fact a Water vole, Water Voles are a bigger Vole species, more around the size of a Brown rat (Rattus norvegicus).
Her "fella" is Gary Delaney, he of the offensive one liners.
Voles live along river banks.
The cat could have brought you a dead Mouse, because he loves you. lol.
I definitely get voles, quite a lot of them, sometimes without half the body because of my cats 🙄

I have a little bit more trouble trusting people who don't like animals
Actually frogs can drown. I know this because I once accidentally drowned one.
She’s the best, please keep reacting to her when and if you can, obviously if you feel to…
Voles are mouse-ish size animals usually with short stubby tails and rounder faces..
As you probably noticed when you came to the UK, cats are outdoor animals and only come home when they want to be fed or go to sleep in the warm. Voles are everywhere in the UK.
Voles are protected in the UK, mice aren't.
We have three recognised Vole species in the UK, Field Voles (Microtus agrestis), Bank Voles (Myodes glareolus), Water Vole
(Arvicola terrestris), only the Water Vole (Arvicola terrestris) is protected. Also as of 2019 the harvest mouse (Micromys minutus) is now a UK protected Mouse species.
Scorpion = desert lobster
You ought to watch Gary Delaney Sarah's husband.😎😅
Another 'Comedy Game Show' Suggestion... "You Have Been Watching! - Religion"
No pets any more, but where we live we have a lot of different wild birds that stay in our yards most of the day, so no need for domestic pets. I think I'm like Jodi, I like animals and want to hold them and stuff but I don't wanna deal with the like vet stuff or grooming.
I absolutely love animals. Not keen on mice and rats. My cat has brought home mice which was quite scary for me. She brought them home alive!!!!
I managed to put a jar over and would put them back outside.
Don’t like the idea of killing ANY animal or hurting any animal. I am also vegetarian for same reason.
I used to have a tiny tortoise, shell, female cat It didn’t take her long to find out that she could attack dogs and win We had to look after my friends German Shepherd for two weeks he was big, but young and they had a cat at home. She tortured him When he realised if the cat was about not to move She’d walk past him, daring the dog to move when he wouldn’t. She jumped onto the chair and jumped onto his back with claws out. My friend picked up the dog a few days later he said for some reason the dog won’t go anywhere near their cats anymore 😂😂😂
That's why one hates cats
A vole is a blind little animal
We had a mouse our car bought in and our cat shared his food with it. I boxed it with peanut butter and released it at local park with food as scared the Jesus out of me.
Kitty cane to mommy because it felt sick. Poor baby. It is gross, but they are our babies, lol.
Cat's are interdependent and you are servants...
Your wife seems to be totally organic food, but she looks like she's on magic mushrooms 🍄😊
I can top your cat sick in the hair in bed, Jodie. My West Highland White Terrier was under the duvet with me during the winter, and she got too hot and threw up all over my feet at 3 in the morning. 🤮
Eww!! So so sorry!
