Offered for sale is one of the most reliable Mercedes-Benz ever built, a one owner 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300SD, W126 S-Class, finished in light Ivory with Palomino MB Tex. This car was built in June of 1983 and was delivered thru the European delivery program in Stuttgart, Germany. The German owner living in the US took the delivery of this fantastic car in Germany, travel about 6000 miles thru Europa before shipping it back to the US. Himself a German car Mechanic was in love with this fine automobile and kept for the rest of his live. The car runs and drives like it should. Shows very little wear for a 37 year old car and still is fun to drive even at highway speeds.
Great car. I owned one of these back in the day. Bought it new (in 1984) and put around 500K miles on it with virtually no significant problems. Sold it to friend in the late 90’s when I left the country on an overseas assignment. He still owns the old girl till this day, tells me she is closing in on one million miles...still runs good and has never required anything other than normal maintenance.
The OM617 engine. Cast iron head, cast iron block. Change the oil regularly and it will last forever.
True...but it sounds like *hit and it's SLOW as *hit....FORZA ALFA BABY ....Give me a 1750 Twin Cam all aluminum Alfa 4 cylinder any day of the week over this tractor engine...

My 1986 300 SDL attests to the veracity of this report. With 170k miles old, barely broken in. All original. It runs like out of the dealer. Tough keeping it from the Corpus Christi rust. Will only sell if in dire need.

This diesel engine was so dependable it ignited GM to start it's diesel production line in 81-84...which was a total flop, you couldn't even start those things...great video once again Mary.

My stepdad had one of these, in what I called German Army Green (NOT with the ugly chrome wheel arch trim), solid af, but embarrassingly slow until you got some momentum built up.

Once everything opened up I'll go to South Florida for vacation in my 83 W126 380 SEL it will be from Texas to Florida more than 20x not to mention several trips to Boulder and Denver Co.

Cool car, the odometer reads 6500 miles more than the CarFax that was done on 4/23/2020, the day you made the video. So how in the world did someone drive 6500 miles in less than a day? lol.

I think light ivory was the most common color for the W1 23 and W1 26 platforms. It’s also the standard color for taxi cabs in Germany. Not a bad color. But unremarkable too.

You have no idea 374K miles is nothing. A million miles is a realistic possibly. Rare durability seldom seen today.

Not really my cup of tea and those chrome arch trims look awful !
The chrome arches are aftermarket and can easily be removed. As is that burl walnut box (Mercedes accessory, er no Mr. Cameraman - another aftermarket add on) that isn't even in the same Zebrano trim as the car...
Please get in front of the camera and take off your shoes in front of the camera

By far not the most reliable MB, really. There are many more reliable then W126.
