A great choice, Rob. Nice to hear Ido playing in a more "old fashioned" style here, which he pulls off very effectively. Always nice to see our heroes are more versatile than we (perhaps) expect.
@@RobEgertonJazzTranscriptions they're super close! I like the way you notated the turns that Ido does better than the way I wrote them. And yes, I have seen the video of Bob McChesney's solo, it's fantastic
Funny story about this chart, I was talking to Ido in a lesson recently and he told me how the bone section ghosts the low Bb to B in the head, but you can see Bob Lawence try to play the Bbs normally before giving up and joining in in ghosting them
The way his fellow trombonists look at him during his solo tells you everything! What a master of his instrument.
That's what it's all about!
That bass trombone player looks pretty cool
Humble, too
I dunno. I'm sus.

I transcribed this for myself a few months back, it's cool to see a take from someone with much more experience than me. Well done!
How do they compare?
Also, have you seen my transcription of Bob McChesney's solo on the same arrangement?

Amazing soloooo
Truly an amazing player
Bro, that solo made me smile, too!
Awesome, Rob, thank you!

Oh yeah, I had not noticed that!
He clearly made some friends out in the audience too.
Quality as always ❤🎵
whoa
great trombone solo. what make a model trombone😊
I can't be sure but I think it's a King. I believe he plays on a BAC now, though.
Could I add a request? Frank Rosolino’s version of Star Eyes (1973) is one of my absolute favorites:

That's a lovely solo, but I'm predominantly looking for solos with video.
