I once went to buy a hot tub, I told the sales person that I was looking for a hot tub, he looked at me and then said, "we only sell spas," at which point I turned around and walked out. There is a cost to being a know it all and he paid it that day. Keep up the good work on your log cabins.
I think the term cabin is more associated with the overall size of the structure (livable square footage) than how it is constructed. Somewhat akin to the tiny/small house movement that is popular these days.
Because I am East Tennessee born, I interchange words in ways linguistic experts find most fascinating. So the cute as a button, Pi Beta Phi Settlement School at Arrowmont is too small to be anything but a log structure on the National Historic Registry lol. Thanks for the videos, I am seeking out these old structures and looking at them in a new light. New vernaculars too. Like the log cabin style school houses that were never home to a family. Fun.
I think most in North America think of a "Cabin" as a weekend getaway place other than a primary residence. Ive seen some pretty ridiculously sized "Cabins" ! Log home is a label for a primary residence which happens to be built from logs!
Something tells me that you live up north... way up north. I'm here in Virginia and the only time I ever hear the term snow line is reference to that part of a mountain where snow is above, but no below.
You'll drive yourself nuts if you listen to and respond to all the dipshits on the Internet. They are surely not your target audience. You come across as very knowledgeable, and I appreciate your time and effort in making these videos.
Cambridge English Dictionary has this for Log Cabin - a small house made from tree trunks. Websters has this for Log Cabin - a cabin made from logs. Hope this helps with the idiots that want to put additional requirements on the word instead of checking the dictionary. LOL.
oh my, it's a work of art. The things folks spend their time on
I love log cabin home,

Thank you!
Log home sounds like marketing, but I agree that size factors into it.

The lowest logs should be above the snow line.
