    Vulcan: Hundreds of years of R&D led to ion drives and antimatter reactors, allowing for the 1st line of exploration cruisers.

      Human: Cuz damn Ruskies went there first and we couldn't let them gloat! They did it to gloat of course!
      Alien: *steps away from the human as he is clearly showing signs of aggression* What made you despise these "Ruskies" this much?
      Human: Nothing its just our entire species is driven purely by spite and we go to great lengths to find someone to spite. For example the Vulcans!
      Vulcan: Thats highly illogical and dangerous.

    So glad you did this, it's great. I am fortunate to have been alive on 20 July, 1969 and watched the landing and first steps live at my home in California. A warm summer evening for us here, it was 19:56 local time (PDT), or Pacific Daylight (summer) Time in the States. So, for the folks in UK, 02:56 UTC 21 July. Ah, and Walter Cronkite, a CBS network newsman, a fixture here (back then). He was incredible..."Oh, boy." is all he could say at first, looked like his eyes welled up with tears.

    Thank you, This is awesome. You should look up the R4 engines and how NASA had constructed them first (by hand where each one was basically an individual work of art by craftsman,) and the new R4A engines they are going to use for the new Mars missions. They got hold of a few of the original ones and after realizing that each one was individual, they remade the highly efficient R4-A model so they can reproduce it and change out parts for mass production. Its an astonishing story. You should do a story on it. (Oh and I tagged NASA on FB when I shared it on my page LOL)

    6:23 that must have been an early concept animation, docking with the LM was actually done by using the attitude control thrusters on the CSM to thrust forward, flip around, and then thrust back to dock with the LM (still attached to the S4-B), then pull it away.
    Also, only on the later missions (after Apollo 11, IIRC) did the S4-B hit the moon, the earlier missions had their S4-B stages go into solar orbit.
    Other than that, a well-done video. :-)

    • @GabrielGABFonseca
      @GabrielGABFonseca 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm aware of the early S-IVBs' destinies, but there wasn't enough time in the video to go into such a minor detail.
      As for animation, that's a very early Apollo Mission proposal animation that Alasdair dug up, sadly again due to time constraints, as the video had to be exported for today.

    Great video! Several years ago a friends father passed away, he'd worked at NASA during the Apollo years. Since my friend has no interest in anything space related his father left me, "that science fiction weirdo", a box containing "memorabilia". I never thought much of it until the fifty year anniversary came along. Well, I finally opened that box... and Whoa! Some of the things in there are simply mind blowing. Now to figure out what to do with it all! Anyone ever heard of an Apollo 11 Mission Analyzer? Pretty cool stuff!
