How do we come to know when to use saytzeff rule and when to use Hoffmann rule?
Least substituted olefin acts as a major pdt in Hofmann rule .. opposite to that saytzeff rule
We look at the medium of the reaction. Bulky solvents usually give Hoffmann products.
