1000 heroes sang this beautiful song by David Bowie in the version of Popup Choir, at the Christmas charity event 2019, where we raised 15.000 euro for Musicians without Borders.
Popup Choir is the best known ‘walk-in’ Choir in the Netherlands. One song, two hours, three part harmonies that leave you mesmerized! Every week, Maarten Bos &Tijmen de Koning teach a beautiful version of a song to a new group of people. After an evening of laughing and singing, the magnificent result is captured on video by Maurits de Koning.

I was in that choir (hiding at the back) along with my son. My daughter was with the soprano section. The most abiding memory of the event (for charity - to provide instruments to musicians in poor countries) was the range of generations who took part - from old Bowie freaks who’ve followed him from his earliest days, to children & even grandchildren of fans, from punks & hippies, to lovers of classical music, through every genre & generation.
