Very interesting. Remember it gets very cold and somewhat snowy here in the winter as it is a desert. Lovely bottle glass
wall art. House is very extravagantly apportioned and all with recycled stuff. Out of Wonders price range but she wants a
bottle glass wall like that at her new digs.

This house is beautiful! They may have used much recycled materials, but there was also a good amount of new materials. This adventure was much more pleasant than I imagined, because I thought this was going to be about Biosphere 2 (aka, "Spaceship Earth"), the Steve Bannon (yes, that Steve Bannon) project from the '90s.

I think thermal mass works because any temperature differential will try to reach equilibrium, so a relatively cooler mass on the north side will absorb heat from the south side, over the course of summer the northern side will become a sort of heat battery that will discharge in the cooler months.

Nice concept, but a little difficult without water.
Taos NM gets around 13 inches of rain a year, and the earthship location gets even less.

Taos. The crown jewel of NM!! Well, to those from Tejas and Colorado!! We definitely need more of these across the state. Build one near the Pecos river in Fort Sumner and you've got water wheel options for power!

You can also buy a very big dehumidifier and let's go water up into a storage tank and use that for drinking and shower and toilet the d humidifier will suck the humid air and turns into water that can be stored not too many people think of that process

WOW! Absolutely gorgeous. I'm all for that. You can grow your own food year round. I know about earthships but had never seen the inside of one like that. The floor in the greenhouse part is dark tiles that absorbs the heat.

Hey Wonderfloosy, you should go to an abandoned theme park and do a Scooby Doo episode, Larry can be Shaggy and at the end you can rip the mask off some one you says they would have got away with it too. Doesn't matter if no one else watches, at least I will get a chuckle.

The Architec who designed the Earth Ships is also known as the Garbage Warrior. I discovered him 6 years ago. If you remember the tidal wave that hit Shri Lanka a few years back the Garbage Warrior helped them rebuild with sustainable housing. It's really great to see his techniques.

The French Press has been in the news for awhile as an unhealthy way to brew coffee, because it’s filter doesn’t filter out the cafestol. Cafestol is a substance that causes the body’s LDL, the “bad” cholesterol, levels to rise. If a paper filter is used with the French press, it filters out the culprit cafestol, and there’s no problem. Unfortunately french presses don't market such a filter and you will have to make your own out of a paper filter but it is reasonably easy to do.

I really admire Earthship homes. When I finally make it to my place in Elko County, that's the type of home I'm going to build there. I should have no trouble getting glass bottles from bars and casinos. And, from looking on Google Earth, car tires won't be a problem, either.

Gosh, and here I always thought that Taos NM was known for the Native American Pueblo. I visited there about 50 years ago with my parents specifically to see the Natives dancing at one of their ceremonies. But I guess the Indians have been invaded again.

Lots of traveling wilburys out there I know and they all come to the hussey ya know ...just got a van myself and thinking about visiting with some 2 star gypsies I know. For a few days but I have a place and a few days away will light up my schedule. Wish I could do the wander thing but do it now I'm telling ya whether ya gor money or not. Shit do it on a ten speed. I started at ASU May 15 1979 and ended up in Eugene across to Toledo down to the st. Joseph wagon train westward ho jump off point to Denver....over the passes to Ouray Silverton Durango. My feather army bag and Michelin man coat and wool lined ski mask got me into Prescott Halloween night . And I got a proper welcome home as I guess girls are turned on by 7 foot giants in a brite blue ski mask ....thank god for Mario's Halloween bash. It was snowing going out on the pass Bend to Eugene and snowed a little in Ouray. Slept on the ground cozy. But then again at 27 yer bulletproof.....so get out there and have fun !

Great video! You need to watch Earthship Biotecture videos to better understand the level of integration of this and othe homes like it! Being from Las Vegas area - we need Earthship Biotecture in Nevada. I am in Reno and trying to build one of these homes! At the rear of the home (on the berm) you were looking at the lid to one of probably four cisterns linked together (the black top/lid)...Thanks for the video, Young Lady!!
