Bushiroad's sealed decks need to step up MASSIVELY. Stride Decksets are a very high price bracket for a starting player, while the recent Quick Start Decks are the scummiest VG product in a while. In places where the game doesn't have such a large community VG lives and dies on the quality of sealed product outside of booster sets. Some of these ridelines that are in the booster set could be mid price range slightly stronger than starter decks (akin to the Gramgrace decksets, maybe without the price-hiking accessories, maybe even non-foil). A Graiandra Starter? Lascaria Starter? It only sounds crazy because Bushiroad seems desperate to make it hard to play the game. We don't need our cards in shiny RRR foiling: We just need our cards.
Stride Deckset MSRP prices are perfectly fine for what they are, you get x4 of every single card(outside of Rideline G1) and additional accessories, you only need to buy one. Couldve been even worse and been in the sets, where they would be x4 their base prices. If the current prices are an issue to you, take it up for the vendors who are gouging prices to be x2 the original price, or prod Bushiroad to moderate that more.
Remember when back in G/V we have actual trial decks & start decks that are actually playable & budget friendly for new & old players, with banger sets after sets? Or the og 5 nation start decks that we got from the start of OD? yea, me neither....
The biggest issue with Special Decksets(Gram/Orph) is the lack of any sort of foilings, but has a $50+ price tag on it. Couldve had Alt Art foils of reprints(Like Gurguit back then), but instead we have a stack of drink coasters that became irrelevant a month after release.
Its basicly what i was saying around the first year of overdress. With this many ridelines we are basicly back at the "we have to many nations, so we struggle to suport them all" They deffintly need to step up their good generic card, but its even better for a older ride line type cards. (and possibly add those proper starter products for odler ride lines that have reall good extra new suport, like you mentioned) Personally i been lucky then greedon masq has been good, and bushi seems keen enough to keep priting desire devils, plus it always host a few generic card slots ff needed.
As far as products go, I hope that we have the following and the reasons behind them: 1)Reprint Boxes: As far as I know, the game has a lot of cards that are too scarce/priced too high. More distributions of sets or better reprint ratios would likely be the answer. 2)Clan Boosters: I know that back in the day, Clan Boosters were expansions for the G era. Why not bring that back and do reprints for all the nations for specific eras/time periods? 3)Stand-Up/Stride Decksets: This can get more new players up and running with the game, or even introduced much needed cards for past archetypes (Youthberk, Orfist, Fated Ones, etc.).
1. I like reprint boxes. I think that introducing them would do a lot for the accessibility of the game, but as a solution it basically threatens Japanese cardshops every time one is announced. If they started aggressively reprinting cards that shops were planning to sell as singles, it hurts the business model that these shops go for (which is sustainable not globally but in Japan, where the playerbase is large enough). I’m saying I agree, but Bushiroad has to toe the line with Festival Boosters, which contain sought after reprints and are saturated by new cards to keep up the FOMO. 2. Alienating the other 5/6ths of the people who play VG for a single nation could have catastrophic effects on the game. If a Keter set is really good, only Keter players or people interested would pick it up, and if it flops hardly anybody will. The whole point of the Nation system was so that Bushiroad could force all of us to need something from every single booster set, so it goes against their strategy entirely. But I would love to see it. 3. Stride Decksets always seem to be met with cautious optimism seeing as how they were instantly competitively viable for the last 3 out of 4 decks. While introducing Premium to Standard is quite unique and honestly impressive, the novelty will wear off quick if they shake the meta every single time. More Stand Up Decksets for maybe cheaper, without all the extras would be awesome.
@@adrianvargas9257 1) Would making the reprint boosters English-exclusive help? Since the issue with cards being expensive feels more of an ENG side thing where not every card shop carries Vanguard (or any card game besides the "Big Three") and its playerbase is still niche compared to them, contrast to Japan where card shops are almost everywhere with more of them carrying Vanguard, and how its player base is larger than ENG's. It'd be a way to appease the Western side's concerns while not pissing off Japanese card shops. 2) Yeah nation-exclusive boosters are a bad idea, especially if it's non-Lyrical ones. It's also for the same reason why collab boosters to my knowledge don't sell well and tend to rot in shelves: You only get it if they're busted and/or you REALLY like the collab IP. Even then, power creep eventually kicks in and those collab decks are left to rot until they get further support, if they do get more that is. It's why collab decks that are either part of the main nations and/or are EX cards featured in the main sets are better imo cause they're at low rarities and high supply and are in a set people will more likely open, making it easier for fans of that IP while allowing non-fans to experience the collab themselves.
@@730Flare i think english exclusive product would be awesome, however the longstanding promo issue and the disparity between how its been handled (until recently) in english as opposed to japan serves as a sort of symbol for how much EN Bushi cares. I can’t speak for Japanese players, but I would expect negative opinions from a product exclusively for English that could be seen as benefitting Japanese players all the same, that’s simply not released in JP because ‘EN players need it more’. This is why Bushiroad needs better sealed deck product, releasing it at a better and more stable power level and price point. Trial, Quick Start, and Start Decks have always been a launching point for new players to drown in a card pack gambling addiction. Symmetrical improvements (good for JP and EN) need to be made to Bushiroad’s products are the way to go, because a lot of the drastic changes that players tend to suggest, while often potentially good for the game’s longevity, often cost a lot of short term growing pains which I don’t know if (or Bushiroad doesn’t believe) the game can sustain.
I think giving support for old decks through trial decks and decksets would be a great idea. I've always been of the stance that legacy support for really old and bad decks should be busted and break traditional card design rules for new cards. By giving these busted support cards for old ridelines a home in these trial decks, it would really make the game easier to get into and keep existing players happy. This game's affordability is not a selling point anymore, and it's hard to recommend without making several white lies about the game's accessibility and price point.
I feel like new boss units should recieve a trial deck like the original overdress ones and leave the set boosters for support for them. It makes the decks more accessible frees up spots for more decks to get support.
Another thing that kind of sucks is the Cray Epic Sets happening every two mainline boosters. This is where things like Mythiarq and Silhouette should get support, but they were screwed during the switch to Divinez cause Bushiroad couldn't be bothered to give that one more set before the switch. At this point they have four avenues of new deck ideas: The Anime, The Main Manga, The Corocoro manga and Cray Epic. Bushiroad really needs to start pushing product that helps out each of these in wider spanning products. It's the one reason why I despise collab sets, they just eat up resources and time that could be done giving support for older decks that desperately need them so if you're not a fan of a particular anime they're trying to push, you're stuck in this deadzone of content until they finally release something worthwhile for your favorite deck, if at all in one set. Lyrical Monasterio shouldn't be the only nation getting support solo anymore since they joined the Divinez sets. Absolutely zero excuse.
I don't like how Vanguard recently has become a game where you just buy everything because you don't know when something will be good to save you the trouble of buying it at an extremely marked up price when it does eventually become good. Bushiroad can do something like the recent Yugioh structure decks where it contains very important staples, I feel they can at least ease the prices of those extremely sought after old cards. In an ideal world they can include like 2 copies of the staple in the product so you only need to buy 2 of the product and you're good to go but we all know how Bushiroad works. Looking back it's also a big contrast to how they were just making new Trial Decks every now and then. Revengers just came out? here's a Trial Deck that has them and you can buy upgrades in the booster set that releases alongside it.
I feel with how Bushi handles ridelines such as Baro, Eugene, Flag and the like, they're better off just dropping them entirely. It's unfortunate for the fans of those ridelines, but its impossible for Bushi to constantly support all the rideline's we currently have and keep receiving. I also have a feeling most of the ridelines out in Divine Set 1, 2 and 3, the non Anime one's are going to have the same issue in a year or two's time. It'll be like a repeated cycle of a ridleine coming out, get another wave of support the next set, maybe a promo then they disappear outside of a random support card in a foil slot that feels awful to pull. Lets not even discuss the Lyrical side for this X.X To summarize, there's too many ridelines, not enough support slots to go around and pulling a RRR for a 3 year old deck sucks lol.
When certain ridelines have to share support due to having similar playstyles (Eugene/Gandeeva, Lianorn/Granfia, Almajestar/Ominagruzio), you know that this is an issue - an issue that Bushi will not be addressing soon.
Would be nice if Bushi dropped some of the poorly designed cards (commans and rares with bad costs, like counter blast 2 to darw 1.) that no deck wants to use ehiter due to not fitting with the play style or just being a cost ineffective card, and put more legacy support there. Pretty much what WCC was talking about. Drop the Eugine Triple R to a rare and give Varga or Triumph dragon more support. They have less wasted cards and older ride lines could have a more playabiltly. Also they need to have the new destined ones be legacy support. Welstra and Zorga got fated card text. Why can't we get a destined one Flagburg or Eugine. They can give us a break on new ride lines and make that support they been pushing more appealing.
