I've been here since the beginning. This is so beautiful to see. You guys have done a tremendous thing there in your little corner of the world. What a beautiful life. Thank you for sharing it with us 🧡🌿
I love the thoroughness (dodgy word yes) of your videos. Slowly but surely you're teaching Latin root words to the world. Your attention to detail is inspiring The response to covid and your medica drawer my very favourites (also road drainage cuts from edible acres) Well done
Thank you - I really enjoyed your video. I have a suggestion...would you be able to do a video or offer a webinar on basic botany? Your teaching style is so accessible.
Do I saw this come up and saved it for this morning when I knew I would have time to make some tea and watch it. Just breathtaking, I really miss all the "little" waters in NY. So lovely and full of life of all kinds. Great job by both of you capturing this and the light is perfect.
Stunning! Thrilled you shared this aspect of your property! Excellent and informative narration Summer and stellar videography by Saunder! Thank you! 💚💛💜❤
I am a fisherman, hunter and lover of nature. It was good to see someone else appreciating my friends. My wife would have enjoyed this video also. The Great Blue Lobelia got the wrong common name. It is in bloom right now in my part of Indiana.
This is my favorite so far. I love ponds and the wildlife and wild weedy plants that surround them. I’ll be rewatching this many times. Thank you so much. I’m also a sucker for goldenrods. As a herbalist, I know that every plant has its own medicinal aspects.
I'm always amazed at how much knlowledge about nature you've accumulated along the years! Thank you for sharing it! The scenery along this lake is be so beautiful! You're so lucky to live there!
I'm taking a pause, this 17:38 is extremely beautiful. So heart warmning. Thank you for including the scenery shots. You and your team are truly God's Earth keepers.
Thanks again Summer! wondering if you could do a part two and take us to the other side of the pond. It looks very interesting over there. Maybe, you two could hop on a rowboat; 🚣♂️🤳🌲 that would be exciting! and preferably before winter? thanks! 😉
I can't believe its finally here! Been waiting for your pond tour for hat feels like forever and I'd say "popular" demand is accurate :D I just love aquatic habitats and there is so much diversity here! Half Lake is so beautiful, especially in the mornings
Be careful with the bull rush, we had it take over a wildlife pond in CA, we burned it twice and it kept coming back…thx for the videos. Jeff Zimmerman NM
Thanks for identifying so many of the plants. I have an area of my property that was originally a marsh and is still pretty wet. The fill that the developer used pretty much obliterated the plants and the seed bank but I am enjoying planting this area primarily with native plants. Like you, I couldn't resist throwing in a few of the hibiscus cultivars. We are surrounded on most sides by woods and state parks (just south of West Point in a Zone 7 pocket) so before I pull an unfamiliar "weed" I check it on iNaturalist to see whether it might be some interesting native that has found its way into the garden. I am glad to learn that I am not the only one having a hard time distinguishing some of the goldenrods. My current passionis are for zigzag (solidago flexicaulis) and bluestem (solidago caesium) but these are more for shade.
I am 100% down for a "weed walk" whenever you do one. Will be cool to see how this landscape changes and develops over time. You mentioned that there was a cool plant along the pond that didn't come back this year. Do you think it might have been a biennial?
When does a pond become a lake? If I can get in a boat and traverse it, it's definitely a lake. Beautiful spot there, would definitely be a place I would sit and contemplate.
Great question. Gray area, but lakes are generally much larger. We read at some point that the smallest lake is around 5 acres, which is why this body of water has earned the name "Half Lake"
@@FlockFingerLakes okay, thank you summer it was just something that came into my head. Beautiful spot there, definitely a place for a table and a chair for those moments of reflection and to absorb those gorgeous surroundings.
@@FlockFingerLakes Our property attracts every hawk, cat and owl in the area. Other predators are foxes, raccoons, possums and herons. We have ponds. It is fun to add plants and share them with others as they populate and establish.
From your neck of the woods...I just posted a video documenting the ceremony of the Kalachakra puja fire today (sept 14 2024) at the Namgyal Monastery if anyone would like to experience this art of peace ✌️ please share the love 🙏🏼💚
QUESTION: Is the lake man made? Is there a beaver damn or some sort of larger system it connects into? The reason I ask is that I have seen a few forest lakes created by beaver damns and over time they turn into these amazing floating bogs with thousands of different plants. I wonder if you could convert part of the shoreline into a bog or extend the lake into a stream that runs through the property. I have a small sctream running through my backyard I built in the middle of the city and it is an absolute oasis for the birds. They love the running water and gravel.

So beautiful!! Such a relaxing video. I'd love to see some of the forest behind the lake. What a paradise
My goodness you choose the most majestic time to shoot, another stunning video ❤
Thanks so much; and thank you for taking the time for watching.
I'm a native plant garden designer and I have to say, I'm jealous. In your walk, I saw no johnson grass, the bane of my projects.

Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for pointing that Lobelia copy-paste error out. That is correct.

Always so beautifully filmed!♥️ love learning from you …slowly turning my land native as well♥️🌻🐝

Iris pseudachorus.? Very invasive moisture loving iris with yellow flowers.

It suddenly strikes me, after years of watching these videos, that it's so good to see no pets in these films. Nothing attacking wildlife. Well done
We had to shoo off our neighbor's cat the other day, however. We wish they would keep the cat inside, as it always winds up on our land....

@@FlockFingerLakes Does the deer fence not protect the main area around the house?
It looks very wild, but why no cat tails around the waters edge?
There is a little Typha latifolia in this waterbody. But not a lot. More in two of the other ponds.

Autumn olive is really invasive in the North finger lakes, especially in riparian ecosystems.
Thanks for contributing.

solidago is very invasive plant in Poland

Why no pitcher plant?
probably because it gets too cold in the winter!!
Sasquach?! 😅
