I've been jobless for six months now after being laid off, and seeing this news is just crushing. I think I had an easier time landing a job back in 2017 when I first started 😅
i just checked out Alessandro content and i realise he spoke alot about the unspoken /awareness that artist have equip the knowledge in the industry. this analysis is really good as we also discussing with among each other in uk here...its true...well explain and really appreciate , sometime we talk about it so much i felt like repeating too much and i felt im anoying for example, fortunately i dont have to talk about it anymore, i can just show this video to my friend, easier!
This kind of feels like the game industry is starting to experience what's been happening in VFX for years... The vicious cycle of 'hire, crunch, discard'... It's scary to watch what's been happening in the past year and a bit, honestly, and I don't think we've seen the end of it yet. I don't know how I feel about the companies not taking much responsibility for over-hiring because of the corona boom - and while I understand companies are mainly here to make profit, you'd think they would have some plans in place to prevent this situation from being the case... Like you said in the video, there are games with a comparatively small budgets that have blown up very recently. With how accessible making games have become, achieving a higher graphics quality of the final product is no longer a viable selling point, if that makes sense, which I don't think a bunch of AAA studios have realised just yet... When playing, people always remember the story and how it made them feel and it feels like big studios kind of struggle with providing that experience to their player base right now. In a market where there's games of all kinds being published every day, having a game with a 150mil budget not do well, shows us that not enough people are interested in purchasing the title to justify that big of a budget. Thank you for an insightful video as always Alessandro. It's going to be a tough year for everyone involved, and I hope we all make it through to the other end.
I don’t think it’s just people consuming less content, there seems to be a major tech layoffs outside entertainment and other industries as well. It’s rough trying to enter the industry
@@acamporota Cool. I'll look around. It's always interesting how the more successful a company gets, the more risk averse they become in some sense. While I can understand the reasons, funny how taking risk is what got them there in the first place.
let us back to China game and vfx industry,i have been layoff for 13 month still not find job 。i just do some vfx and tvshow, future film outsource to mortgage, what can i do? man?😄
I've been in this industry for more than 35 years now. Believe me when I say that you should think about a second job in case. Take this time to do a formation in something different than film or game. But stay open for animation if you are passionate about it.
@@Jeanbanvillethanks your advice. i ve been in the industry just around 5 years. i am rigger. now i am experiencing job cuts. this you said is correct. we should keep that . like you siad.
This is a very reasonable take on it, some people often like to just trash the industry using buzz words like capitalism, oppression, predatory and such and such. While those things exists, I believe the bulk of the companies are just being pragmatic and reacting to the demands of the market. Thanks for the kind words Alessandro, let's hope everyone manages to get past these times.
@@acamporota yeah I can't argue with your take since am not from gaming industry. Am from tv division and more over your takes a sometimes hard to swallow but most of them are true it's like when we are teens and parents say some thing and it's like instinct thay we get oh no quick we have to do something opposite to what they are saying 😂😂😂 but what they say is true and for our good future

And animation is the perfect career for future use ...... ANSWER SIR ??
Nothing is perfect in life
Studying animation is good or bad choice in 2024?
Is still a good career. Just need to stabilise
Bad if you want stability and constant income not dependent on short term contracts.

My pleasure
capitalism is part of it obviously, as when you keep companies unchecked they will just dump workers like trash even if they arent losing money
Remedy is the few companies who dont over hire and maintain their financials
In a perfect world
