Glad this is still helping people! I soon stopped using this radio and as we speak haven't flown in over a year, maybe when summer rolls around....

Thank you. You said in 2 min what 100s of other videos couldn't. I don't need to watch people solder the cables, I just need to know which connections to make. You sir, are a legend.

Finally someone who talks actual sense. Thank you so much!
Everyone else is spewing nonsense about wire colors, do they not know that's not how it works?

Problems that no one has mentioned yet that affects this video. The author mentioned that he wasn't going to address the software for this mod, BUT there are actually 2 (two) different ways to achieve this, one using PPM and one not (which makes the MOD software dependent). Also his S-Video cable isn't like mine, or the others I have cut open, mine has 5 wires (Silver Bare, Black, White, Red and Yellow.) This mod would use the Red wire and the shield ground, where the other mod uses the yellow PPM wire and the shield ground. Might as well tell the rest of the story. I am using my Lenovo laptop to run my simulator. As with a lot of current laptops, there is only one Audio connector that handles BOTH Audio out and Mic input. These connectors are called TRRS (tip - ring - ring - sleeve) where he is using TRS(tip - ring - sleeve). Plug a TRS connector directly into a laptop and nothing you can do will make any MOD work. You need a special cable called a combo audio splitter. These adapter cables are only needed if you need access to the MIC, which all these type of MODs do. Back to the software. I would tell you which one to use with which MOD, but I don't know which one he is using. I thank him very much for his video, and not trying to find fault, but this video, like most of the ones I have seen on TH-cam presume everyone watching knows the same everything the author knows. People just trying to figure this stuff out don't, or they wouldn't need videos to help them figure it out.

Hi can I hook up a chin switch which will be a single gimble with this remote thru the trainer cable if I wire it all together? The chin switch is for a paralyzed man who uses his chin to control the car

Thanks fergs, I just used your breakdown to build my cable and thought we should make an actual diagram!
    So here it is, imgur.com/a/ZUBRpWP

Afraid I moved on from this to an FRsky x9d plus pretty quickly so never got into hacking it - even have the ftdi here - never used. Best of luck!

i'm trying to solder my own S-video cable. Your diagramm is the opposite of every other video I watched. In all other Videos one of your ground pins is the ppm-signal. Something doesn't make sense.

I simply put 2 pieces of wire into the fs i6, wrapped the cable around it and fixed everything with hot glue xD

Glad to have helped someone! - I use a taranis x9dplus now - which just needs a usb lead but this got me over the initial learning curve.

Fergus builds hiya there's a very easy way to do it if you purchase a flysky x8 receiver very cheap and use ppm or ibus and connect the red & black to a old usb cable and the signal wire to a phono plug and plug in to the mic :-D and bind to the receiver and your good to go. wireless lol no cable's I'm sure I got my x8 receiver on EBAY.CO.UK for £6 and it saves sitting in front of a screen lol
