The shotgun ready press was 199$ including the full die set, measures and all extras for one gauge of shot shells.
Rex, I really enjoy your reloading related videos, please do more. A friend in the US offered me a Hollywood press for free (I’m in the UK) - I was very tempted because they are such a great tool but the shipping costs killed the idea. I’m envious of yours 😉
That's a painful story, but I fully understand. Where in the UK are you located? My wife and I are avid fans of Britbox and Acorn with their great collection of British TV shows.
Hi Rex I have the same press, it is a real gem. I just took it apart and had many of the part cerakoted. As you might have guessed I had to hone some of the holes a little in order to fit the parts back together. I picked up a 1/2 3/4 7/8 and 1 1/2 inch flex hones. I wish there was a way I could send you a picture. Do you know what the patent number is on this press?
I am the proud owner of the Super Turret. From my understanding when Hollywood was still in business there was only 100 of these made. I also have a few Corbin dies for swagging. This re loader is made with superior strength in mind. It is fast and it is slow. I use a different primer installer and powder trickle my loads. This helps in it being more speedy. You have covered a lot of great knowledge on this equipment. It is sad that they are no longer in business. These were all build for more then a lifetime.

I wonder what other types/styles of presses were available during the 40's and earlier but before RCBS etc. There're so many competitively priced and different style presses available today, all with unique advantages, that's it hard to choose just one. I've used both single/progressive RCBS presses in the past and now have a Lyman 8 hole turret. I'm thinking of adding the RCBS Summit or possibly the Forster Co-Ax.
I started reloading on a used Hollywood Senior press (the shorter version) that I bought from one of my college professors in 1963. I paid him $25.00, and that included a set of Hollywood .30-06 dies and shellholder. I'm still using that press on occasion today, but I've since added the taller Hollywood Senior, with the swaging bar, to my loading bench. I use the taller one for swaging bullets and loading .45-120 Sharps ammunition, since the 3.25" long Sharps case is too long for most other presses. In the late 1970's, the rights to the Hollywood machines were owned by a gentleman who's first name was Jim, but I don't remember his last name. I believe he was an NRA Board Member, and had his shop in Reseda, CA., in a small industrial complex. I was rangemaster for our department at the time and I took our Hollywood Super Turret press, which was set up to load 12 gauge shotgun shells, to his shop for a conversion he had come up with to feed wads automatically when the handle was pulled. The conversion worked really well, and I loaded many, many shotgun shells on that press. Jim let me pick through his shellholder box on one of my visits and I was able to get the shellholders for the other calibers I loaded on my Senior press. I wish I could remember his last name, but there's been a lot of water under the bridge since then.
Fred, I think you may be talking about Joe (rather than Jim) Mueller who bought the Hollywood Press company from Lysle Cochran, and owned it until everything was destroyed in a fire. Very sad ending to the story.

You had to call early in the morning to talk to him, because if you called, or showed up, in the late afternoon, his housekeeper would tell you he was "sick". Once when I had an appointment with him about mid morning, he was in pajamas and slippers. He was quite the character, and the reason he let me pick through the shellholder bin was because I had furnished him components to test the Super Turret with, and he said nobody had ever done that for him before.

No, you shouldn't. You'll probably find that one's been on eBay for a long time and will stay there. I suppose the seller is figuring with 8 billion potential buyers "out there," eventually a wealthy lunatic will come along...
The last two Super Turrets eBay sold for $4.5k and $5.5k , both rough and with no accessories. So the current one on eBay for $6k in excellent condition and complete with extras is not a bad deal. Only 100 made by HGS. Those presses aren’t for everyone.
I have the Super Turret and $6,000 is really not a bad price. You have the power to reload 50 BMG as well as swagging the bullets. It should last several lifetimes. @@steveurias6282

the Universal 3 presses with the 3 turrets were made with the frames cast of Aluminum as well as cast iron. I had 3 at one time.

I understand the Hollywood can reload .50 caliber bmg rounds
All you need is the Dies and the Super Turret. I might add you also need to locking rods. I have the Super Turret
