- Welcome to Episode 35 of Rover! Today I am at Taunton on the Great Western Main Line. Services are seen by Great Western Railway and CrossCountry.
Somerset began with Taunton in this video and it was a great station. Everything stopped which was nice and finally some 166s and a 158 came into the series too. The views towards Tiverton are great and you can see white a nice view towards the North as well! Definitely will always return here, it's a station I'd recommend too.

Nice to see turbos at Taunton. Just after Easter I got on one from Bristol to Bath on a Weymouth train.
Yup, they fit in well at Taunton. I have yet to ride one to Weymouth.

What if the entire CrossCountry route were electrified by overhead wires going all the way from Aberdeen to Penzance. CrossCountry need new electric trains, possibly they could have Class 800s to run between Aberdeen and Penzance as well as to Bournemouth.

boi they've been running Paddington-Taunton services for at least 2 months now. They're well on their way down South West
Those are the 800s, the South West are getting 802s.
IETs were in question, but yeah 802s doing the Penzance and Plymouth runs

I'm not sure where you've got to now but if you would like could you pay a visit to Westford Level Crossing it's a real nice foot crossing and a bus ride away from Taunton then a short walk. It's real nice and there is plenty of vantage points to get trains and tones especially. If you are interested then great it's real nice on a summers day.
I've gone way past Taunton I'm afraid bud but I certainly will still consider it.
