I think the black suitcases are just to look more professional. If they let us choose our suitcases there’s no telling what people would show up with 😂
On reserve I’m pretty senior. I think I was in the top 35%. Line months I’m still pretty junior. For January I’ll be 83%. I know what I can get with my seniority so I try to bid accordingly to get the best schedule I can.
I’ve actually found it to be not as crazy. We have dates during the month of December where we receive holiday pay if we fly, so people tend to pick up more to make the extra money. The summer is probably the craziest time to be on reserve
Thanks for the explanation. My coworker just transferred to flight attendant training. How many times in a year do you have to be on reserve or line? Which do you prefer? All airport job contracts are so confusing and complicated 🤦🏽😂
I’ve been with the company for 6 years so I’m currently on a 3:1 rotation. 3 months on a line 1 month reserve. I prefer a line. There’s more flexibility. But I like reserve for December because I can get the days off I want. I’m not quite senior enough to get the holidays off on a line yet
After our first year we switched to a 1:1 rotation. So you have one month on a line then one month on reserve. Now I’m on a 3:1 rotation. So I have 3 months on a line 1 month reserve. I’m not senior enough in Charlotte to hold off reserve yet. Probably another couple of years for that.

It seems that you have to be able be within 2 hours of your base. Also, it seems pretty hard to be a commuter.
On reserve you do for sure. Commuting is tough on reserve months. I had to do it back when I was Philly based and it wasn’t fun.
