    Definitely my era of bikes. Still love how wide they are, the analog clocks, great big fcuk off exhausts and the paint designs. Would take these over any new machine. All time fave is the RC51 VTR SP2. Kinda lost interest in watching WSBK when they moved on to litre bikes, to my a 750 will always be the superbike

    This is probably one of the best reviews I have watched. I own a 03 zx7r and absolutely fell in love. I remember watching the races and for the most part did remarkable. Plenty of power and I can out run any newer stock 600 or gsxr 750 in the curves. I actually hit a cat in the middle of a heavy curve and when most bikes would have hit the ground, all I experienced was a little bit of the death wobbles. It recovered very well and very fast. This bike will be with me till I can't ride any more.

    It is interesting to compare this zx7 with the 996! Two super bikes from 90s so different from each other in all aspects! The Kawa still with a bulky apearence original from the late 80s/early 90s and the Ducati with a slick and light look! Anyway the Kawa looks like new although I prefer the previous green model, with the ram air pipes through the gas tank like the Honda RVF 400/750, and rounded headlights like the first Firblade or Yzf750 genesis!
    Great job guys, it is a joy to watch your videos over and over again!

    The mighty ZX-7R, one of my favorite bikes of all time! I only sold my one earlier this year to make way for my 2015 ZX-10R. The 7 has made me a huge fan of Kawasaki for life, I had it for 5 years out of my almost 7 year riding career. It was my first real bike (here in Australia we need to have a learner bike for a year before getting your unrestricted license). I had the suspension professionally setup for my weight and more aggressive riding which resulted in the bike just happily tipping into corners although if you threw it in you really needed to catch it! Once you had it in a corner it had more stability than anything else I have ever experienced. You could hit a pot hole or big tree roots mid corner at decent lean and she just ate it all up. Watching this video really made me miss the bike, she was so good to me. P.S. the black and silver was the best colour scheme for these :P
    On another note please keep up the good work, I have been really enjoying your videos. Professionally done, good information, nice shots and no dribbling on about irrelevant information or showing off for the camera.

    Today it is still one of the most beautiful looking sport bikes. I am 6ft 4 and rode one for years. Because its front end weight it may not do wheelies ( im not a squid) but it is incredibly stable in corners. This is the most important trait in sport bikes. Confidence inspiring like no other sport bike i have ridden. I put a 4 degree ignition advancer on it ,Muzzy full exhaust and a proper re jet job. Perfect! My friend was lucky to find light weight magnesium wheels and that was an incredible upgrade. In real world applications this is a fantastic bike and i miss mine very much. Ask anybody who knows, this goes through corners like its on rails.

    This was an AWESOME review on my Favorite bike of all time. I've actually swapped '07 zx10r fork tubes & front wheel, EBC XC Contour front rotors (310mm) & '09 zx10r front calipers along with a custom billet triple tree (zx7r head tube bearings & zx10r 50mm fork tube openings, instead of a bearing & race swap to use the stock zx10r triples) and an '05 zx10r swing arm & rear caliper and bracket with an '07 zx10r rear wheel. The zx10r suspension & wheels shaved about 36 lbs off my bike, which makes for an even More nimble & very stable zx7r in the corners. It's not as light as my '08 zx6r and you can tell, but it Is just as flick-able in the corners as my zx6r and it has better braking with 10mm bigger rotors up front.

    I love the sportbikes of yesteryear. It is easy to forget about all the good ones with the current pace of technological advancement with modern motorcycles. Before I bought my new R6 two years ago, I nearly bought a 2003 7'er same color and somehow had only acquired 700 miles. For $4k I think it wouldve been a good buy. Now I cant say I ever regret not buying it, as a 3rd gen R6 is a tough bike to beat. There is something to be said about the older bikes with their softer suspension, lower and more relaxed seating positions, heavier weight, more streetable powerbands and I do feel the build quality was also better. I recently contemplated getting rid of the R6 for a 1992 GSXR1100 in mint condition, I think it'd be fun to ride something you just dont see everyday here in Mobile, AL.

    Yep.. they are heavy and slow compared to what's out there today. But who cares, still one of the best lookling motorcycles ever built. I have a 1997 7r that I've owned for over 20 years and it still puts a smile on my face every time I ride it. You cant beat the sound of the thing at 13000 rpm! Will never sell it.
    This bike come from a time when you exactly what make and model a bike was at a glance.
    Fireblades, Gixxers, Ninjas and R1s were the greatest era of bike development.
    Today Modern bikes are just ugly and soulless. Maybe I'm getting older... each to there own. There is a reasurgence in older Japanese bikes for good reason. They have way more than enough power for any person, you can work on them with spanners and they just look so fucking cool. Bring back the 90,S !!
    Cheers

    I had an orange 2003 ZX7R (which I regrettably sold). I looked very small on it, being 5'7, but the bike, to me, is as comfortable as my 2001 ZX6R and better than my 2001 R1 (lowered), at the time. Cornering was better than all my other bikes. It gets hot on the legs on the summer but very nice on the winter. I rode it for 650 miles (from Jax FL to Norfolk VA) with no problem since the seat was very comfortable.

    the support bars behind the wind screen worked good when you got up to stand on the gas tank (for people that did that kind of thing). i remember later when they designed better wind screen supports i had to grab the top corner of the wind screen to get up on the tank. The mirrors also got in the way if you sat on the tank with your legs over the wind screen riding wheelies. Not just the Kawasaki that went for all those old bikes.

  • @Spanky1962
    @Spanky1962 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yea, they're a bit old school and no they don't match the refinement of newer bikes but you really have to be what my brother and I refer to as a "soul rider" to appreciate and enjoy this bike. It's for sure not for the weenies who want all the electronic gizmos to do half the work for them. Then again, I prefer a manual transmission with a real clutch pedal in a car. So I'm most likely some kind of old school throw-back and maybe even the evolutionary missing link that science has been looking for.
    Regardless, this is also not a bike for a newbie:
    1) 122 hp @ 11,500 rpm and actual redline well above that
    2) 57.5 ft. lbs of torque @ 9300 rpm
    3) Top speed of 150-163 mph
    4) Instant wheelie machine whether you intended to or not
    All combines to induce a serious pucker factor and get you in trouble if you don't pay attention. On the other hand, if you really know how to ride, these things are a blast and will leave you smiling at the end of each ride.

    I don't know how much time i seen this review.. i just got a '97 for 100$, that have not moved for 11 years, and is almost ready to go on the road agian! i just have front forks to rebuild, and put new tires. started at first try!
    i want to use it as a second bike for tourer purpose.. but i'm really starting to fear that is gonna replace my zx6r '03 (636) on a daily basis.
    for sure gonna subrscribe (:

    Spot on review, uncomfortable and not that quick, if you want power wheelies not the bike for you, handles great and looks great, had a couple of these in my younger days.

      That's actually my LS400 being driven by the camera man. I've since sold the car and regret it!

    Greetings from Portugal! Thanks for this practical and honest review. Maybe you could tell me if this bike has fork spring preload adjust, rebound damping and compression damping as well fork position? And the same goes as well for the shock absorber (spring preload adjust, rebound damping and compression damping)? Thanks.

      We would love to, but those are hard to come by here in the USA. If one comes along, then definitely!

    I own a 2000 zx-7r I love that bike, it is now my track bike not the fastest bike out there but still very fun. My new ride is a 2015 BMW s1ooorr much faster. Still love the old green machine.

    Great video but prefer your old layout with wideshots and closeups instead of POV for 90% of the video.

    "You can get into one of these for around 3 thousand dollars" I guess it's just cos it's 5 years later and in New Zealand, but we're looking at 12,000NZD for one in pretty much the same condition as the one in the video. I wish we had the USA prices.

    • @PracticalEnthusiast
      @PracticalEnthusiast 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They've skyrocketed in the US as well. I had to give this bike away on eBay for $3800 USD. Nobody wanted it and I didn't have space to keep it. Wish I had!
