The end of an era at that time, really. Macy had been on the show for 11 years by that point, so her leaving then was a huge loss to the cast.
Still can't believe Brad didn't know how to write for this legacy character and talented actress.
I can! It’s sad to think how the same thing happened to so many great cast members after this, including the brilliant Darlene Conley.
I really think the way Brad 🔔treated Macy disturbed the balance of the show because by writing her out (and never letting her have children), the entire Spectra branch lost its viability and eventually withered. When DC died, the Spectra clan died with her, and it didn't have to be like that if Macy had still been on the show to carry on that legacy.
it was pointless to stay alive at this point.they made her character neurotic psychopath drunk
anyway she came back two or three years later...
Thorne is such a fool. Pops in a cassette of his wife singing, while driving around looking for her to sign divorce papers to be with his mistress. 😠🙄
Think of how repulsive that would be to tell your sister that your mom is involved with your brother. 🤮
Think of how repulsive it would be for that same sister to overhear a few years later, her loving mom and newlywed husband talking about the baby they're expecting at the baby shower she just hosted.

This was a great shock for viewers without spoilers when it aired. One of those "top 10 shocking moments on b&b", this is after 11 years on the soap, the first major character death since Caroline 1990, and then Taylor in 1994.
Your so right about that
They had spoilers then. You just had to read them in TV guide or on the soap message boards.
I'm curious Kobi, when you were watching it back then in 2000, were you rooting for Macy and against Brooke?
@@NewYorkNick0607 When I was young, I loved Sheila the most.
I was rooting for Taylor and Macy, I never had any special feeling of hate or love Brooke. I thought that Amber was annoying with all the crying and drama, and I didn't like her storylines which took the center too much at some points (but I liked her in the 2002 Sheila storyline).
I did love Macy, yes. Still do. The actress has a nice voice, I like the way she sounds and speaks, she looks good, has some tenderness, she is the victim of the story. Yes. I liked her. Today I like Sheila and Stephanie most of all. I think 1989 was the best year, then 1993, and I loved Kimberlin Brown in 1996 (poisoning), 1998 (shooting Stephanie) and 2002 (Erika).
I think Caroline's death was played beautifully, and I really loved the entire Angela storyline too. The best episodes of the show are around 660-690, and also some of the Belief story.
@@kobibarda2259 Wow. I couldn't agree more with all of that, Kobi!
@ Babs; thanks for mentioning that Taylor tried to save Brooke too, so Macy’s not the only one showing compassion towards Brooke. Although the valley girl didn’t deserve any compassion from either one of those selfless women!
And Brooke never thanks them for that. She'll go on and on about how she raised Taylor's children
When Macy took one look at Brooke’s face and shrieked, I think a lot of could sympathize. Can you imagine seeing that in *close-up*?! Shuddering just thinking of it.
Joking aside, what an episode. My heart was in my throat!
Good one!😂
Macy did not die in 2000 in this tragic accident. She returned three years later. Her father rescued Macy, drove her to Italy and she pretended to be dead. When she returns, she will never stop wanting revenge on Brooke. She will marry Deacon and will want to get little Eric back from Amber. Macy died in 2003 when a chandelier fell on her head.
Why would Macy want to get little Eric from Amber?!
@@ChelseaBrooke85 Because the boy is Deacon's biological son. Being romantically involved with Deacon, Macy will support Deacon fighting to get custody of his child(ren).
And yes, she won't have much sympathy for any Logan/Forrester. (One of Deacon's kids then being raised by the mother, Brooke, the other by Rick and Amber).
@@mara4450 Whoa hold on, BECKY and DEACON?! Deacon fathered Lil Eric?! I feel like he should look way older now then. lol No maybe not I guess....but Deacon and BECKY?! When do we learn of Lil Eric's father's identity?

100%. Ashley Jones is a great actor, but Jennifer Finnigan is in a whole other league.
Your so right about that
@Phil2c09 Emily Harrison I think her name was… they got rid of her real fast, i think there were a lot of complaints from viewers about her bad acting!
Emily Harrison was the first recast after Finnigan in the spring of 2004. She just didn’t have the capacity of Finnigan and it showed. She didn’t last long. That was a rough time on the show for that and other reasons.
Anyway, moral of this story is: Brooke should have stayed at home, drank some water and minded her business...
Your new daddy is your older brother and we wonder why Deacon got his hooks into her? Her daddy issuees stems from her mother playing house with her half brothers while daddy Eric is absentee as usual
Exactly… then at one point let’s not forget that Jennifer Finnegan‘s Bridget and Ridge kissed. I think that was after they found out about Eric not being the biological father of Ridge. I don’t remember where that falls in timeline wise, but unbelievable things that have happened in that family , it just blows my mind. It’s like here’s the man who initially raised you as a daughter when you were a little girl, then found out you’re siblings. Found out you’re not biologically so a “crush “ instantly developed. The ick factor was high with that one .

Her friends at school always felt sorry that Brooke was her mother and she will soon finally understand what others always knew.
Her mother and her newlywed husband will have an affair sans protection, and the world-renowned chemist was shocked she became pregnant. When Bridgette's father found out her baby sister, Hope (wonder what Brooke put on the birth certificate as Hope's father) was also her stepdaughter, he protected Brooke from Deacon, yet ignored what his daughter was going through. He wasn't Eric the Dad, he was and continues to be Eric the Eunuch! The majority of the family acted as if Brooke simply borrowed Bridgette's headband, not her husband.

I won't be surprised if that is the next season to air on the channel.
@@kimkalisek1746 Exactly. Why are Macy's deaths so extreme?! 😐
She wasn’t on long before she left again .The actress decided to take another role on All my children ,so the writers una lived her for good instead of recasting.
@@teligonI know .Why the heck can they release them in order!
The most heartbreaking thing about these final scenes with Macy is how _rationaI_ and _in charge_ she is. She is putting her own feelings aside - her ha t red towards Brooke, her physical pain, her fear - in order to try to save Brooke first, and herself second.
The saying "character is who you are in the dark" really applies here. From the moment Macy sees Brooke's injuries, she is completely focused on putting pressure on Brooke's wound, giving up her own attempts to free herself - _even though she hat e s Brooke and even though there's nobody there to witness her actions._ After she realizes the seriousness of Brooke's condition, her right hand never leaves Brooke's head, so that when Thorne arrives and tries to help Macy get out, her attempts to get the door open are half-hearted because she is doing it with only one arm. And when Thorne comes into the car and sees Brooke, Macy _continues_ putting pressure on Brooke's bleeding when she could easily have stopped, thinking it's now Thorne's responsibility. Even when Thorne takes over and puts his hand on Brooke's head, Macy puts her own hand on Thorne's to make sure he's still applying pressure (because this is, after all, the guy who doesn't know how to keep his own plants alive, and whom Macy doesn't trust to use a microwave on his own).
And throughout this scene, _Macy_ is the one giving instructions. Thorne panics when he sees Brooke, and it is Macy who has to tell him what to do. She instructs him to stop Brooke's bleeding, tells him he has to save Brooke first, and reminds him not to leave Brooke, while Thorne keeps going back to his original intention of getting Macy out of the car first (ironicaIIy, because he has supposedly fallen out of love with Macy and in love with Brooke, but throughout the entire scene, Thorne is trying to save _Macy_ and Macy is trying to save _Brooke)._ When the truck driver shows up, Macy immediately warns her of the gasoIine, explains the situation, and the last thing we see of the truck driver and Macy is the two of them making a concentrated effort to free Macy, with Macy terrified but still completely rationaI as she pleads with the truck driver to push. Until the moment of the expIosion, Macy is fully aware and focused on solving the probIem.
Macy is more compassionate than even Taylor. I love her
I also applaud Macy's actions in helping Brooke and despite everything i don't think Macy wanted Brooke to die and maybe she knew if Brooke died some people might think she caused the car crash on purpose.
@@aph1976 Macy showed that she absolutely did not want Brooke to die. If she had simply stopped applying pressure to Brooke's wound, Brooke would have died and nobody would ever have known that Macy was responsible. But Macy's actions actually saved Brooke's life.
Macy saved Brooke’s life because at her essence Macy is a good person. Had Brooke not mettled and badgered, Macy would not have died.
Brooke’s number one priority is always herself.
How ironic that Thorne finally shows concern for Macy - when it’s too late to make a difference.
Brooke needs a new car with airbags...
And seatbelts.
Thorne is right there, can’t Macy just scream to him for help? And how does he not hear her??
This episode had me on the edge of my seat the way it was being promoted I was hoping macy wouldn’t pass but had a feeling 😞then her coming back just to get killed off again I always heard Bobbie was shocked by the decision then agreed to come back when asked then left on her own the second time allegedly but she did do an interview months ago saying she would return if asked I know Winsor wanted to return to and both expressed wanting to work together again also I loved Jennifer as Bridget to I didn’t mind Ashley either but definitely wish Jennifer could have had a longer run

_"I will be back"._
_"I know."_
There is a double meaning to Macy and Thorne's poignant last words to each other. On the surface level, they are talking about Thorne returning to help Macy out of the car. But the way it is staged, with its significance in the scene and the way they look at each other during this interaction, there also appears to be a deeper message.
I have talked before about how there are two contradicting narratives in this storyline. The current story being told is that Thorne has fallen out of love with Macy and is now in love with Brooke, and dreaming of a future with her. At least, that is what he _thinks_ and _says_ he wants. But in this life-or-death situation, what does he actually _do?_ He instinctively tries to get _Macy_ out of the car - even after he finds Brooke unconscious and bIeeding in the passenger seat.
So when Thorne promises Macy that he'll be back, and she replies that she knows, it's like both of them share a moment of clarity where they pierce through the show's unreliable narrative, right to the true core of their characters. Deep down, they _know_ that they belong together, and acknowledge that Thorne's feelings for Brooke, however intense, are transient. Thorne will indeed eventually return to Macy.
But by then, it may be too late.
I'm wondering if Thorne when he literally had to choose between Macy and Brooke and which of them to save first he chose Macy might have been a sign of which of them he couldn't imagine his life without.Just like Ridge is Brooke's soul mate maybe Macy is Thorne's soul mate even if they're not together.
@@aph1976 it was like he wasn't even aware he was doing it. He was crying over Brooke but meanwhile just kept automatically trying to get Macy out of the car and Macy had to go "hey, Brooke is bleeding to death over here".
That last look they shared legit made me tear up. I got real emotion from Windsor Harmon for the first time since he started playing Thorne.

@@kimkalisek1746Erica was the show on All My Children, but there were certain lines she dldn't cross. We knew Erica sometimes blurred the lines, but she paled in comparison to Brooke.
Once Brooke schemed against her mother and family was bad enough, but her and Eric becoming lovers exceeded blurring the lines, they repaved the entire street.
There's something beyond the ick factor, being with the son, his father, the son, his father and then the son again. It borders on being incestuous.
Honestly, I was shocked Brooke had fans, and how she continues to amazes me.
I was a fan of Caroline and Taylor. They ruined Taylor and now she's irredeemable. Her Rick were beyond disgusting, however, it also indicates the respect he had for kind of woman and mother she was versus Brooke and what he wanted as a child.

Stephanie: making Brooke her BFF
Caroline: throwing Brooke into Ridge arms right before her death.
I don't understand life.
Brooke's a special one 😒
Good points, I’ll never understand that either!
Macy to Thorne: Take care of her first (about Brooke) After Thorne saw Brooke and the position she was in himself without Macy mentioning she was there, and after Macy putting Brooke in that position.
Stephanie: making Brooke her BFF No comment
Caroline: throwing Brooke into Ridge arms right before her death. She couldn't exactly take him with her where she was going. She could have pulled a "Macy" and take Ridge with her, but she was selfless enough to not to.
Taylor: jumping in front of Sheila's gun to protect Brooke Not exactly jumping in front, she attacked Sheila from behind, finding an opportunity, trying to take the gun to save all 3 of them (Brooke, Eric and herself), but I will give Taylor that she was truly brave there.
You also failed to mention that when Taylor was dying twice (when she was having the twins and when Sheila shot her) asked Brooke to be with her husband. She was good enough for Ridge then, while they are alive (Caroline and Taylor) think Brooke is the worst ever to happen to Ridge, but just perfect for him when they drop, which makes them both really selfish to say the least.
@@marn25but even after Thorne saw Brooke and the condition she was in, Thorne was _still_ going to help Macy first until Macy told him not to. And then he was going to get Brooke out and come back for Macy immediately until Macy told him not to leave Brooke. And Macy was already saving Brooke's life long before Thorne arrived. It was Macy, not Thorne, who actually saved Brooke. And she did it when nobody was watching.
I agree Macy could have mentioned Brooke's condition immediately to Thorne, but then again she might not have realized right away that Thorne hadn't already seen Brooke, since Brooke was clearly visible _to Macy,_ and Thorne spoke Brooke's name first when looking into the car.
@@annieo6527 Without demeaning Macy's effort which you correctly say she WAS saving Brooke's life before Thorne arrived, Brooke was the one who needed to get out first and get medical help. Macy was "fine" (ignoring what happens next with the explosion), she was speaking, had a clear head and moving, Plus she was trapped, so it was easier to get Brooke out of the way, so Thorne or someone can try to get her out. It was also practical.

It's absurd that Macy survived this accident without any permanent damage😂😂😂
Yes, I mean, look at the size of that expIosion. It was big enough to send Thorne flying through the air and he wasn't even that close. Macy was _inside_ the car. The truck driver right next to her could not have been put together again without an lKEA manual.

@@annieo6527 She did yes, what bothers me, is that after she comes back a few years later, she doesn't take her responsibility for the crash and the death of an unrelated innocent person, and blames Brooke for what that crash caused her.
@@marn25 I think she already did take responsibility through her actions immediately after the c r ash. And she paid a very high price for what she did. The truck driver's death was not Macy's (or Brooke's) fault because it was a result of the truck driver knowingly choosing to take a risk. As for when she came back, I had the impression that Macy had partially bIocked out what happened that night (for example, she didn't realize she was still legally married to Thorne because she never signed the divorce papers).
How did Macy survive the car accident?
It was explained that the force of the explosion was so strong that it threw Macy out of the car. She was found by her father Adam who took care of her and took her to Portofino, where Thorne finds her again in 2002.

I don’t like this 😞 I wish I didn’t know the outcome already
So unlike what others were saying Macy led Brooke inot an accident where she was evidently hurt more than Macy who fled the scene and faked her death but Brooke is the monster 😂
Macy was clearly hurt more. Brooke got to go home the same day. Macy was severely injured and took over a year to recover. And she didn't flee the scene. She saved Brooke's life and then her father found her, at which point she could no longer contact anyone as it was too dangerous.
I think I now understand by the e
vents of this episode what is really going to change things for Brooke and Thorn for ever but not by the death of Macy. Yes Thorn will marry Brooke but he will be consumed by guilt about Macy and feeling responsibe this will have consequences in his new marriage leaving Brooke once again alone looking for something else. I havent seen these episodes but I think its obvious.
No, what will happen is that Thorne will be perfectly happy until he overhears Brooke admit to Deacon that she is still in love with Ridge deep down - which is exactly what Macy (and everyone else) tried to warn him about.
Now this is where i completely lost respect for alcoholic Macy.
She needs to stop blaming everyone else for what's going wrong in her life and pull herself together.
