    An important note - Even thought I used the Beckmann BRDF mode, GGX might look more realistic. Try both and decide what looks best for your scene!
    In this C4D quick tip you'll lean how to create physically accurate metal surfaces in Octane.
    You can also support me and help yourself by purchasing my new Metal Material Pack, 14 completely procedural and physically accurate metal surfaces.

    Here's a side note for everyone - Technically BRDF mode set at GGX might arguably produce better results for metals. I personally preferred the more contrasty specular Beckmann produces, but definitely feel free to choose GGX if it produces a better look in your scene!

    hey man! great tut and materials pack, thank you! Even tho all of those are beautiful I'm straggling to get an oxidized silver material in Octane. It is easily achievable in Keyshot with curvature function... but I can not get the same result with Octane even tho I like its lighting more compared to Keyshot.. Thanks in advance!

    • @NewPlastic
      @NewPlastic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks! It should be pretty straight forward, the Tarnished Bronze material does pretty much what you're trying to do, you just need to change the IOR data from bronze to silver. Or just get a silver material, and add a Dirt node (or curvature node) to the Metallic channel (so the black info in the crevices will tell the material to remove the metallic from those parts). Then plug the same dirt node to the Albedo channel and use a gradient node in between to control the color of the oxidization. That should work!

      Thank you for the comment man I really appreciate what you're saying. I'm still trying to figure out the best recording technique, and I noticed it makes a huge difference if I play it on my 6" monitors, or on my laptop speakers, or my headphones. The 6" monitors will have a huge amount of bass, while on other speakers it won't be noticeable. But I'll definitely take it into consideration for next tutorials and we'll try to mix it on the monitors. Thanks again!
