It's been the worse year ever to be on the PCT but threw it all you kept on walking....I watch you grow over the last couple years....And I know with ur writing skills and ur quest and love for nature the keys are there what ever door you decide to walk threw it will be urs....Thank you for letting me come along ....When you get to be my age and sitting there one day with your grand children you can say your grandpa was the greatest hiker ever he walk from Mexico to Canada one time....Them r the best bedtime stories....
So sorry to hear you have had giardia added to the list of challenges that the PCT 2017 has thrown at you. I have followed 5 PCT hikers from the Mexican border. Nick went, Choc. Balls and Juliana Chauncey have finished but they all skipped at some point. You are the first of the 5 who will finish. Dixie is at mile 2000 mid OR, but based on her courage and determination if humanly possible I am confident she will complete. You sir, deserve a tremendous hallelujah and congratulations, not only for completing the very challenging PCT 2017, but shouldering the added labors of bringing all of us along with your video's that today is just the latest masterpiece. Thank you so very much and I wish you a speedy complete recovery from the giardia.-Thanks, Ray
Couldn’t have said it better myself! Mitch, you’re an inspiration in so many ways. I love Rays comment. Thank you for articulating how so many of us viewing this feel. 🙏
Oh Mitch, you have had a hard time this year! So glad you kept going through it all, although I have come to expect nothing less from you. I’m going to miss your videos! Your spirit and tenacity, your skill behind the lens, and your gift of gab (you are definitely part Irish, lol) all brighten my day!
Wow Mitch, even giardia can't get you down! You are so strong and determined to reach your goal. It is good to see your health and the bounce in your step returning throughout this video. Almost there, almost there! Crossing my fingers the fire won't be any problem in getting to Canada. Thanks for sharing this tremendous beauty with all of us. Never been there myself yet but from seeing your video, I might have to do it.
So sorry you got Giardia. That is rough! I have lived with it and its not fun. Looking forward to seeing the last bit of your hike. Thanks for working on all these!
Loving your blogs Dutch. Been my favourite to follow. Been real all the way through. Had major ankle surgery in June and following the various people out there. It's given me a lift through some difficult times. I have enjoyed your honesty. Thank you for the massive effort you have made to bring it to me on the other side of the world in the UK. 🇬🇧. Thanks once again Mitch, and I hope to follow any of your future adventures. Best wishes, good health and. Power on with a positive attitude.
That is SO sad to hear. An ol backpacking buddy of mine (much more experienced than I, too,) picked up a bad case of giardia when he was canoe tripping. He lost a mess of weight and spent a few days in his tent heaving. I got a dire warning to always filter my drinking water. He didn't tell me how he overcame it. He must have gone to the clinic. Must have been a horrible canoe trip out. I always do. Glad you got it looked after. I can't imagine what you and my buddy went through....
Thru hiking the PCT northbound means racing through the north cascades late in the season, which is a shame considering how nice they are in August with time to wander. It's like having a footrace through an art museum.
Dutch, I'm glad you're one tough Son-of-a... Seriously, nothing stops you! It also looks like you have bruising or a cut around your eyes. What happened? Also, I hope you do a gear review of everything you brought. For one of the few hikers that made it all the way through, I'm curious what worked for you and what didn't. I really appreciate the hard work you put into Vlogging. What a great summer!
I deleted my other Google account, so all of my comments were deleted. So I am posting again how awful about being extremely sick. Very nice video. Glad to see you are feeling better at the end "Whatever, 30 miles baby".
Hi Mitch. This is ICU. We met at mile 232 and camped for the night together. I saw all your videos and enjoyed them. I finished 29 sep. Here is my journal entry I talk about you and Skittle. Congrats . you are the man. www.trailjournals.com/journal/entry/565536
soheil fahimy ICU! So good to hear from you! I can only hope and expect that your journey was as beautiful as mine. Thank you so much for the comment and the link to that journal. It was extremely uplifting and a joy to read. I'll have to go read more! I have saved the link as to send it on to Skittle and the rest of the gang! You're the man ICU, and you sure saved my nose with that lip balm!
This 2017 PCT was all I dreamed and more. Your Gang were one of the great clans of 2017 PCT. I think you might enjoy my journal if you found time for it. I might never be able to top PCT 2017 Nobo thru hike but I am sure you already know that. What a trail and what a year.

You’re an amazing man! Way to go! Thank you for publishing these videos!
maxpatch67 Yes, about 18 months ago, he was a boy taking on a huge challenge on the AT. Now, he is a man, a very strong willed, confident man.
Absolutely stunning scenery!
A true sufferfest! Congrats. Those are the sweetest trips when you look back....
Mitch, you are incredible! So close to completing the PCT which is a challenge in a year without the difficulties you encountered this year.
Good job! I really appreciate your vlog. You are always so real. Almost there!
Wow...the suspense is growing from where I sit. Yikes! And the North Cascades are incredible. Go Dutch!
Amazing scenery you're sharing. Thanks Mitch!
